Our property was homesteaded in 1919 by L.T. (Toot) and Doris Evans. We began working on our non-profit, children's program in 1992 and opened to serve kids in 1998. Old McDonald's Farm, Inc. utilizes Farm Program animals, agriculture, gardens and beautiful, natural resources to "teach and reach" children and youth. We offer many programs and "The Farmer For A Day Program" is just one. This one is open to older children and their families. We look forward to meeting you and having you join us as our guest!Enjoy the lovely apartment inside the Horse/Cow Barn at our non-profit, children's Farm Program! You'll have a great view on a beautiful 68-acre farm. Join us to slow down. The Apartment is spacious and sleeps 2 with 1 queen bed. Up to 2 more people can stay but bring sleeping pads and sleeping bags for them. The Bath House is a separate building but only 25 feet away. It has a claw foot tub, shower, running toilet and sink with hot/cold running water.  It is a beautiful building and for your exclusive use. We have 32 Farm Program animals at our non-profit, children's program so enjoy horses, donkey, goats, sheep, pig, geese, chickens, ducks, dogs and cats too. "Squire" is the black cat that lives in the barn.  He is a cuddle-bug.  Also enjoy getting on our antique tractor, playing on the horse swing, tossing horseshoes, going for a nice nature walk, and seasonal berry picking (available two places down when berries are in season). Our place is rural and so breakers pop, internet is dicey, dogs bark, geese honk, chickens squawk, donkey brays, etc. It is wonderful but it is on a farm.   We are located close to the Columbia Gorge, the Columbia River and waterfalls. You'll be just over three miles from Crown Point and the Vista House overlooking the entire Columbia River Gorge.   Suited for adults and kids four (4) years old and up only please.  It is not set up for babies and toddlers. Please plan on adhering to the "House Rules."  We thank you in advance. The space and amenities The Barn Apartment has a queen bed with linens, full size refrigerator, hot plate, kettle, toaster oven, microwave, dishes, salt and pepper, some cooking ware, lamps, heat, back deck, fans, etc. In addition, the beautiful Bathhouse has a sink, toilet and full shower inside a claw foot tub. The Bathhouse is very nice, but it was built years later so is about 25' away. It is quite worth the walk though. We are located in a rural area just 1.2 miles off the Historic Columbia River Highway near Corbett, Oregon and about 3 miles to Crown Point and the Vista House where you can take in the expansive view of the Columbia River Gorge. We are just 15 minutes from Multnomah Falls and close to many other beautiful waterfalls along the Gorge. We are located just 10 minutes to Troutdale, 15 minutes to Gresham, 20 minutes to the Portland Airport and about 30 minutes to downtown Portland. You can also learn the feeding, health and housing needs of all of our farm animals the next morning if you choose to add on a Morning Chores package (late spring, summer or early fall only and only if we have availability). The animals are always happy to see folks, especially with food in our hands.  An 'Add On' can be a hayride, a fire in our fire pit (unless there is a burn ban), Morning Chores package (two hours), horse riding lesson or drive a horse with a harness and a cart (if we have availability). Firewood for fire pit $6/bundle (unless there is a burn ban). We will provide kindling and wood.  You please bring matches, lighter, fire starters, paper, etc. and you lay it up and start the fire.  Please be sure that it is doused out, out, out with water when done!  - Hay ride $100.  This takes about 45 minutes. - Morning Chores package $125 for up to two people (not $125 per person).  Then, it is $5 extra per person past that and maximum of 8 people. During this program, you will have an opportunity to meet the animals up close in their farm homes and learn to feed and care for all the farm animals. Ask us first before scheduling please. - Horseback riding lesson is $100 per hour per horse and one staff person, or we can do two mini lessons for two people in that time. - Drive with Scalloway, our American Miniature horse, in a harness and cart $100.  This takes about 1-1.5 hours.   If interested in these, please contact us in advance and ask. We can see if we have a staff member to teach it or run it and then if so, we can tell you how to book it from our web site. We thank you for your interest. Once booked and you are joining us, meet one of us to welcome you, show you around, show you where the fire extinguishers, parking, etc. are and get you settled. You are welcome to come and go as you please once you check in with us! We just must make an appointment with you to get you checked in please. We do not do self-check in. Thanks in advance. Barn Apartment on a Beautiful Farm!
We went during the off season and I can't even imagine having a better time. They accommodated us last minute. Very sweet barn apartment that is just above the horses with a little balcony to look out. had everything we needed and my daughter really loved reading the books. It was a luxury to have a regular working toilet in the "outhouse" or whatever you would call a really cute bathroom just feet from the apartment. Although we didn't purchase any extras, we were able to hang with the horses through the gate and they are so friendly. So cool. Loved Spirit the black cat the most we must say. We really couldn't have asked for a sweeter overnight adventure.

A Charming Farm Experience

Farm Cottage on a Beautiful Farm!
My 6yo son and I had a lovely two nights on the farm! We stayed in the perfectly petite Farm Cottage, which was just the right size for us. Being surrounded by so many happy animals was a delight, and we especially enjoyed the Morning Farm Chores add-on, spending about 90 minutes helping feed and water the horses, pony, goats, dogs, cats, ducks, chickens, geese, sheep, mini pig, rabbits, mini horses, and donkey. The location was great for Gorge sightseeing, and we enjoyed meals in cute downtown Troutdale (a 15min drive from the farm), easy hike at Latourell Falls, a visit up to Vista House, and brunch down at Multnomah Falls. The farm was peaceful and quiet, and a welcome retreat from city life. We highly recommend a visit or a stay there!

It was great for the kids (ages ranging 6-8) and fun for adults too, lots to see! The barn loft was great with an air mattress - there are plenty of outlets to use (for inflation and whatever else). We loved the animals!

How many people can say they slept in a barn? We can, and it was amazing! Don’t forget your essentials! The animals were so fantastic! The farm is so cute! Non profit for kids?! Yes! How great! Ms. Elana help say with the farmer for a day during our stay! It was soooo much fun! We got in so many snuggles and learned a lot! We had a lovely, relaxing stay! We will be back! Thank you for opening up your farm to us! It’s a treasure!

'Horse Trailer Haven' Camp Site
We had mixed feelings about this stay. While it’s presented as part of a farm, the actual camping area is quite small. The parking space is framed with logs, and our car barely fit — almost sticking out into the road. The listing says it’s suitable for RVs or trailers, but I honestly can’t imagine how they would fit here. The tent space is even smaller; luckily, we have a rooftop tent. With a large ground tent, setting up could be tricky. There’s no water tap at the campsite itself. It’s possible there’s one somewhere else on the farm, but the instructions didn’t mention where guests are allowed to go, and all gates were closed. Privacy is also a bit questionable — in the morning, cars drive right past the site, and farm visitors on tours have a clear view of you and your tent. The rules strictly say no noise after 10 PM, which we respect, but be prepared to be woken up around 5–6 AM by farm sounds. Overall, it’s not a bad spot, but it’s important to know these details ahead of time so you can plan accordingly.

I would definitely recommend this property. It is very nicely appointed and comfortable, and very easy check in and check out. The real reason to stay is the farm. We spent our morning interacting with many of the animals while they had their breakfast and had their stalls cleaned. It was great fun for us all (two teenage kids with us who slept on sleeping pads on the floor) to feed apples to the horses, pet the cats and dogs, talk back to the bossy geese, and scratch the pig's snout. Really magical!

Camping in a Hay Loft !
Glorious Glamping in a Hay Loft!
I loved camping in Stepanie's hay loft ! I didn't have to pitch a tent, and there was a private porta potty just a few steps away from the barn. There are horses, miniature horses, a donkey, geese, ducks, a miniature pig (my favorite - he was always happy to be greeted), rabbits, chickens, goats, and more. Ask to have the cat door closed if you don't want any cats visiting you. It is lovely to have the aroma of hay ! We were close to many great places to go swimming, and were able to go to Vista House. There are an abundance of waterfalls in the area, and we were able to hike to three in one day ! Stephanie is a great host and was helpful and generous !

A beautiful farm serving a very worthy cause of introducing animals and nature to children . A true glamping experience for those hardy souls interested in a unique experience . I'd do it again .

Barn Apartment on a Beautiful Farm!
We absolutely loved the Barn Apartment! It was beautiful and stocked for a rustic but comfortable stay. It was magical waking up to the sounds of the horses and donkey below us and honking geese beside us. We were kept company by Squire, the sweetest barn cat ever. We purchased the Morning Chores package which was delightful and educational - a great experience for anyone wanting more interaction with all the animals. Stephanie and Wayne were helpful in getting these scheduled and getting us checked in, Karissa was a great instructor or our "morning chores." Highly recommend!!

Farmhouse Apartment was PERFECT!
Barn Apartment on a Beautiful Farm!
We loved staying at the farm over night! The barn house was a lovely apartment that was quiet, and had everything we needed! We were joined by Squire, the host cat and he ended up staying the night with us because he was very vocal about wanting to be included in our hangout! The private bathhouse, which was just a short walk from the front door was perfect and all we needed with a shower, bath, toilet and sink. The BEST part (aside from hilarious Squire) was all of the adorable animals on the farm. What a lovely asset to the community that serves and teaches children how to care for animals. Great stay and we will be back again! Our room was clean and very comfortable! They even put some farm fresh eggs from the chickens in our fridge to cook for breakfast in the nicely done kitchen space in the apartment! Thank you Stephanie and Wayne!

A Magical Farm Camping Experience

'Horse Trailer Haven' Camp Site
We had an incredible stay at the "Horse Trailer Haven" campsite. The campsite itself was fantastic, but what made it truly special were our adorable neighbors—a donkey and two miniature horses. Our kids absolutely loved interacting with them, and they were beyond cute. One of the highlights was having access to the entire farm. We got to see all the animals up close, and when the caretakers were around, they would let the geese, chickens, sheep, and a small pot-bellied pig roam freely. It’s clear that the farm is run with a lot of care and attention, giving the animals plenty of time to play and enjoy themselves. We were also visited by a couple of friendly kitty cats, which the kids loved playing with. We opted for the "Farmer for a Day" and Horseback Riding programs, and both were absolutely amazing. Our kids got hands-on experience feeding the animals, taking care of the pens, and more. The horseback riding was a hit, and the staff was super friendly. There were so many other animals to see, including goats, rabbits, ducks, and ponies. This is the perfect place to camp if you have kids—they will absolutely LOVE the experience. We highly recommend it!

Very well cared for and interesting little treasure. The tent space is more than adequate and unlike a normal camp site , your neighbors are a donkey and two ponies. You have your own defined area with the extra facility of the old horse trailer to utilize as you chose. Stephanie is a full on provider and responsive to whatever you bring. Highly recommended.

Glorious Glamping in a Hay Loft!
It was too hot to sleep inside the space. When we arrived this host did not even know we had reservations. She was sent several stressful messages ahead of time using All CAPS in her messages. We ended up camping and we did not get reimbursed.

It was a great get-away for us and our 11 year old granddaughter. We added on two extras: horseback riding lesson and farm chores. A nice experience for a child who had never been on an active farm before. We stayed in the barn loft and it was clean and much more spacious than a tent would have been. We enjoyed it.

Enjoyed the animals, especially the cats and donkey. Our place was very roomy and clean. Had the farm to ourselves for about 24 hrs so were a bit concerned about the animals getting fed.

Very unique stay, Stephanie was super helpful and we loved all the animals! One of the cats even snuggled with us all night - a bonus for us but maybe not for everyone. Great property and I'm happy to support what Stephanie and the others are doing there.

Great Family Getaway!

Glorious Glamping in a Hay Loft!
This was a perfect experience for our little family of three. My eight year old loved learned so much and was eager to learn waking up at 6am ready to go for morning chores. Stephanie is, kind, patient and broke down farm educational concepts and terms age appropiately for my daughter,who only has experienced city life. Our famiy had a beautiful evening by campfire near the serene filed. We also enjoyed resting in hay loft. The child's desk was perfect for our daughter to draw and have some down time. Only recommendation is to keep fan on for white noise to drown out sounds you may not be use to on a farm or bring ear plugs for a good night and morning rest up. I hope this program continues to help families and more children in the community.

The barn house was charming, cozy and comfortable and it was so cool to stay on a farm close to animals. Our daughter really enjoyed it! Stephanie was a great host - would highly recommend for folks seeking out a family friendly, country getaway!

What an amazing and magical place! The animals are amazingly sweet! Stephanie was very communicative and clear in her instructions. A beautiful and wonderful spot that I will most certainly attend again. We did add the Farmer for a Day option which we all (2 adults and a 10 yo) LOVED! If you don't want to feed the animals, not having that package would be fine as you'll still have ample time and space to pet the animals w/o that package. HIGHLY recommend this unique and wonderful experience!

Barn Apartment on a Beautiful Farm!
Great way to escape the hustle and bustle of the city life. Feels right out of storybook. Woke up to the geese calling and the donkey braying. Better than any alarm clock. If the weather permits, don't miss seeing the animals! Only word of warning: the bed is very firm :)

Overall, it was a neat experience. We enjoyed the fire pit and the hay loft concept. Although it is an open loft in a hay barn, and all fixtures and facilities were clean and sanitized, the living/sleeping space could have been vacuumed and/or dusted.
