Heritage Hills isn't called Heritage Hills for nothing! It's situated on 21 acres of what was the original Wawonowin Country Club, a 9-hole golf course that was built in the early 1800s and then closed in the mid 1960s. And now we have a beautiful mix of hardwoods and pines, forests and fields with multiplied non-motorized trails accessible right off the property. The very popular RAMBA bike trails are literally an ‘stones throw’ away! Our biggest site, Fairway Field is big enough for group camping that horse campers love, and one site, the Homestead, with an electric hookup. We don’t have a dump station or trash cans so please pack in and pack out.
Phone signal is good throughout the area and we are close to civilization for necessities and only 20 minutes from Marquette. So much stuff to do in this area!

We have options of open sites and a couple more private wooded sites. There are at least two areas for small campers and several choices for tents and/or hammocks..
There is a communal/central fire pit, picnic table area as well as a larger fire pit with picnic table closer to house. We have nice fire wood available on site -see "extras" or for purchase when you get here!
There are yard games, extra chairs and a small table in the red shed. This can also be used as a storm shelter if needed!
There is a "port-a-john" on site- extra TP is kept in red shed hanging on nail in a bag. Please let us know if this needs attention.

Our goal to provide a peaceful, quiet ambiance for all our guests and so we don’t allow loud music and we require adherence of our quiet hours from 10pm to 10 am. If you’re using a generator, please run it during the day until 10pm, so that it’s not running all through the night.

We are located along the North Country Trail and only a few blocks from their office as well as a 10 min drive from the Kent county youth fairgrounds. 25 minutes to Ionia fairgrounds
There is several restaurants and breweries walking distance away, joined by a social district as well as several cannabis stores. A dollar store and ice cream shop are 2-3 blocks away. And a country style breakfast restaurant is next door.

This is a 3rd generation "Family Farm" of a different sort I suppose. Seems there's a bit of everything here, and arguably not enough of anything. At least for conventional farming. So we've learned to do things a bit differently.Our main crop is wine and juice grapes since our topography, climate, and soil type makes it a premier location for that. But with 30+ acres of forested hillsides, low ground, and natural areas we've evolved into a mixed farm and forest enterprise. Our goal is to utilize the productivity of all our property while still retaining the basic character and usefulness of the wild areas. Letting each thing be what it wants to be and does best on it's own. Flow, not force.So our year starts early with tapping maple trees and making maple syrup. Plus there's grape trimming about this time as well. When the forest floor starts to green up a bit later, we start digging Ramps, or Wild Leeks in the woods. Most of these will go to the more trendy Chicago restaurants, but we also have some local sales. Next comes inoculating winter-cut logs with Shiitake spawn for next years mushroom production. This year we also conducted a few hands-on workshop seminars on mushroom growing as well. Then it's on to our raised bed herb & veggie gardens. (Fresh herbs are just so much fun to cook with!) We grow enough for our own yearly use, as well as some for direct sales. Summer keeps us busy tending all the different crops here and trying to keep up. But there's that steady progression of fresh veggies to eat. Yum !!! Fall brings our annual Grape U-Pick in September and October. And we try to time related crops like mums, pumpkins, and gourds for this same time frame. Makes the place a bit more interesting. Late fall is when we bring in firewood to heat the house and workshop. Stacks of wood everywhere. Hopefully before the 1st snow. In winter it's time to fire up the woodworking shop and be a bit creative. Build furniture, equipment maintenance, who knows what next years projects will include. I like to keep everybody guessing.So, that's what goes on here. You're welcome to check it out, lend a hand, relax back at camp, walk the vineyards and/or forest, or just breathe and relax. That's up to you. But I would recommend visiting a few of the fine local wineries. Seems there's a festival going on at one or another of them just about every weekend. Good music, good wine, good times. And there's the Lake Michigan beaches a few miles down the road.Yeah, this is a pretty casual place here, love meeting new people, very open to civil discussions of all sorts.However, rude, ill mannered people will probably enjoy staying elsewhere. We occasionally see the Aurora Borealis right from our house. We are located in beautiful Manistee, Michigan where outdoor adventures abound!! Manistee is a peaceful, quaint Northern Michigan town with shopping, antiquing, fine dining and a River Walk. We are minutes from award winning fishing spots on the Big Manistee, Little Manistee, Bear Creek Trout Streams and the Platte River. There are many opportunities to canoe, kayak and paddle board. We are 10 minutes from the Lake Michigan shore, and many beaches are close by. You have a choice of gorgeous sand beaches with picturesque dunes, and rocky beaches for those looking for fossils, agates, beach glass & beautiful beach stones. We are within an hour of Sleeping Bear Dunes with award winning hiking. Traverse City is 40 minutes away with many activities, especially the Cherry Festival. This area is known for live music venues, and lots of weekend art festivals. Manistee is also home to the Little River Casino.
We have firepits at each campsite, dry firewood is available to purchase, feel free to pay by cash, Venmo or CashApp, cost is $15.00 a wheelbarrow and can be found by the wood burning stove under shelter. Fresh flowers bouquets are available to purchase seasonally at our Floral Stand & Market. We have local NON GMO Pasture raised eggs $5 a dozen, Sourdough Bread $10, organically grown garlic, peaches, scones & fishing lures & our Guest Book! An outhouse is available for use and is supplied with toilet paper & hand sanitizer. There is a garbage can and recycling bin near the outhouse. We installed a water hydrant close to the flower bed near the wood pile so you can get potable water to bring back to your site, or hose off with on the spot. A scenic small creek runs by many of the campsites.

My wife, toddler, and I went on our first camping trip together and stayed here - and let me just say I’m so glad we picked Shivering Timbers to stay! The hosts were amazing and waaaay accommodating. There are activities for kids, little and older alike that i definitely didn’t expect from a campsite! My toddler said she didn’t want to go do our activities - she wanted to go to the campground and play with the kids LOL! I hope we come back soon! Thanks again! :)

We absolutely loved staying here, it was the perfect location for our trip so convenient and close to everything we wanted to see! Stephanie and Tim were the nicest people ever and made us feel sooooo welcome, they gave us lots of recommendations on things to do and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Literally would come back and stay here just to see them! The site itself was spacious and quiet and made for very relaxing tent camping. 100000% recommend this campsite! (P.S. there’s wild blueberries everywhere which is so fun)

Wonderful place to stay. Beautiful campsite with Gorgeous views of the stars at night. Loved the outside shower. Took a midnight shower while watching the Beautiful night sky. We drove in on two motorcycles and had zero issues getting to our site. I'd definitely stay here again and recommend it to everyone.

He was available to make us comfortable without hovering. The mountain biking was fantastic on the Dragon Trail, and we can’t imagine staying somewhere else to ride. We will be back.

I loved camping on Dean and Jackie's land. The directions were clear and it was easy to find the location and camping site. This particular site has a nice mixture of shade and grassy areas. The charging station, outhouses, and shower were nice additions as well. With close proximity to good fishing spots and kayaking. Overall great stay.

The place was peaceful and private. We picked this area up camp (rooftop tent) because it is literally right on the RAMBA bike trail. Beautiful area, single track and challenging in some areas or you can walk/hike the trails. I’m sure it’s gorgeous in the Fall too! Short distance to area towns. The hosts were great!

White Pine Farm is a local favorite of mine. I've been a few times and stayed at both Cozy Corner sites on the property. Cozy Corner I is the smaller of the two. It gives the same in the woods vibes as Cozy Corner II and is nicely shaded. This site is more suited for a one or two person tent, while Cozy Corner II could take a four or even six person tent. The site is fairly level and not terribly buggy. There's plenty of forage wood on the property, and they added a new little pond feature since the last time I was there, which was fun to discover. Pete is really hospitable and checked in with me via text upon my arrival and departure to see if I needed anything. White Pine Farm offers convenient access to many points of interest nearby including White Lotus Farms, nature preserves and several Metroparks. I've always enjoyed my stays at White Pine Farm and I'm looking forward to coming back again next season!
