SPACIOUS SKIES WOODLAND HILLS
is a family-friendly campground located in upstate New York amidst the Taconic and Berkshire mountain ranges, set between Albany and Pittsfield, MA, and only two hours north of New York City and two hours west of Boston, MA.

Lake Taghkanic is a great place for both summer and winter stays, with plenty of tent campsites as well as cabins and cottages, and a variety of activities to do year round. For winter folks, there's cross-country skiing and snowmobile trails, as well as ice skating and ice fishing areas, and plenty of fire pits to warm those chilly bones. For summer lovin', there are two beaches, so if someone kicks sand in your potato salad (accidentally, of course), you can just go to another beach and pretend like it never happened. The only sleeping quarters that are on the water are some of the cottages in the West End Cottage Area, so if you're planning on playing Beach Party Bingo, plan accordingly or be willing to walk a bit from your tent or cabin.

Our slice of paradise consists of 225 acres of forested land nestled in the foothills of the Catskills near Albany. We are a homestead and small campground devoted to the principles of organic farming and self-reliance. Modern agriculture and big business are unsustainable, destroying farmland at an accelerating pace. It is important for us to teach the next generation, there is an alternative. We produce much of our own food. We have friendly goats, chickens, ducks, peacocks, donkeys and horses the guests can pet and feed. There are no swimming holes on our property, but many waterfalls and swimming spots within a short drive (see list below). A quick 5 minute drive will get you to one of the best disc golf courses in the north east. For the truly adventurous, Clarksville Cave is a short drive away. Visit their website for list of proper gear and rules. We do rent some of the equipment needed.

Electricity is available, but not convenient to sites. The property has tall beautiful pines creating a natural canopy, and tent platforms . The Little Witch Cottage is a rustic charming cottage from 1929 with timber framing and Catskill blue stone flooring. It sits in the middle of our yard about 200 feet from our more modern home. We have about 9 acres set back from the road. The cottage has a queen sized bed, dining table, and small kitchenette.
The kitchenette has a mini fridge, dishes, toaster oven, french press for coffee and an induction stove top. There is basic cooking supplies such as pots and pans.
We wired this vintage beauty to run on solar power and has an outhouse with a composting toilet, sink, and heated outdoor shower.
Outside the cottage is a small garden, picnic table, fire pit, and chairs.
Our land is mostly sloped fields that we are slowly turning into meadows full of native flowers and plants. There are mowed paths through the tall grass.
This is perfect glamping spot, a mixture of comfort and nature.

Welcome to Hickory Hollow!
Located 7 minutes from the Town of Catskill, 25 minutes from Hudson, and just under the Catskill Mountains, Hickory Hollow is the perfect campsite to take full advantage of the Upper Hudson Valley.
There are two campsites you can chose from, both in clearings that make for great star gazing. Camp 1 is deeper into the forest taking about two minutes to walk to from the parking area. Camp site 2 is only a one minute walk but much closer to the farm. If you are coming with a dog, I would recommend staying at Camp site 1, as the farms dogs are very vocal when there are new friends in the area. Each campsite comes with a fire pit, a grate for cooking, and a picnic table.
There is parking provided and a composting outhouse. You will need to bring your own firewood, though there is plenty of available kindling.
The property is 9 acres and I encourage guests to hike down to the stream and take a walk if they feel comfortable. If not there are so many hiking/swimming options nearby and I am happy to point you in the right direction.
This property has a been a life long dream of mine, and is (in my opinion) the most beautiful place on earth. That being said there is a still a lot of work that I am doing since this is a very new endeavor. So please watch yourself if you do decide to stay. The Hollow is beautiful but also very steep, so please be careful while you walk the woods. Pets are welcome, but again, be safe. There is an abundance of wildlife in the Hollow (see if you can spot the porcupine) but that can be very distracting for dogs, so be cautious when letting them off lead.

For July 4th weekend, and Labor Day weekend drive-up sites are a 2 night minimum. In the off season starting after Thanksgiving through April, there is no water or toilet or shower facilities available. Our 75 acres is a wonderful, diverse mix of habitat, harmoniously integrated with our small farm. This land was the homestead of the very first non native settler of the area, John Wiley, in 1787. Before that, it was the land of the Mahican native Americans. They named it "valley of the butternut trees", or Wyomanock.
The Wyomanock Creek is the backbone of this little valley. Beaver have dammed the creek at several points to create ponds and other wetland features that support a diversity of wildlife including otter, moose and a myriad of birds, from osprey to herons. This sanctuary is host to many uncommon native plants and plant communities. We would love to share it with you!
Your host, Thom, invites you to property to explore 75 acres of meadows, woods and water. Choose one of several sites either in the woods or open areas. You are also free to use our outdoor solar shower or take a dip in the cold pond or artesian spring fed pool.
Our location is convenient to the Berkshire Mountains, state parks, hiking and other attractions, including Ramble Wild tree to tree adventures and Jiminy Peak. There are a few miles of rail trail access just down the road.

This is a 1920's cottage that we moved and restored. The building site is an old Charchoal mound that was in use in the 1700's so there is a lot of history between the building and site where it sits. It's a beautiful spot right on the water, tranquil and full of wild life' we I built this cabin for the quiet enjoyment of our natural world. This is a place to unwind and reconnect. We have just added a 10*12 platform with a large cover for rainy days, the platform has a gas fireplace for cold days.

This piece of land was developed by my mother, and named after my grandmother: The Awakening Garden is a translation of her name in Chinese.
It is tucked in between the Hudson River (8 miles to the East) and the Catskill Mountains (10 miles to the west). It is just 6 miles from the Village of Saugerties and 14 miles to Woodstock, NY.
The piece available for camping is 10 acres, but the entire Garden is comprised of 98 acres of rolling land (most of it in a forestry protection plan) bordered on the west by acres of marshland. Many trails criss-cross the Garden and lead one to pretty or interesting vistas including a large mountain laurel patch, ancient graveyard, and different stands of mixed wood forests.
There’s lots of wildlife both on land and in the marshes.

Weekend Trip to Cherry Plain Sanctuary Farm
I loved spending the night at this property. Tipi camping with views of horses and goats. Very off grid. No electricity or running water and a composting toilet. I just sat most of the day watching the animals and enjoying an outside fire pit. I was traveling alone and felt very safe. Nice to just be out in nature for one night. There was a local restaurant nearby if you didn't want to cook on the fire, that was very reasonable. Jules the host was friendly

We loved camping on Jim’s land! Felt secluded, peaceful and quiet. This site is set back from the road, there’s a clean outhouse, and trails Jim has built out and maintained. A beautiful spot in the Catskills near Palenville, Catskill, Saugerties and lots of great hikes (Huckleberry Point + Plattekill Falls were awesome). Story Farms right down the road. We showed our friends from abroad their first “classic American camping experience” and Jim’s property did not disappoint. Kid friendly, as well — our toddler had lots of space to roam and play. We will definitely be back!

4 nights at Hucklebuck Railway Campsites
If your looking for seclusion with quick river access, surprisingly good reception to listen to tunes on Bluetooth and a site where you barely have to bring anything as everything you’ll need or want is supplied and set up for you then you’ll find it as delightful as I did. Paula and Bill the owners are also the best, they were most helpful in supplying their input on any questions I had. Will def be back, thank you guys

My son and I loved staying at Jim’s place! He met us on arrival (we were late- my fault- sorry Jim😬) and he showed us around. We walked down a few trails- it’s perfectly forested- not too dense, there’s still a breeze- even when it was hot and humid out. Our site had the perfect blend of wooded area and natural-feeling clearing- we could throw a ball, run around, and it still felt secluded. Jim offered to take us foraging for mushrooms which I would have LOVED, but my son wanted to stay at the camp site and do the stuff a kid does when camping😈.
We had a truly incredible experience. Thank you Jim so much for being such a gracious host! Can’t wait to come back with the whole family!

We had such a great stay in the east camp. Paula and Bill really have thought of everything and made our stay stress free. There were other campers at the west site but the property is so big we never ran into them and it was like having the whole place to ourselves. Looking forward to coming back!

Matthew's land is the perfect spot to camp before hiking over at Kaaterskill. Just a 5 min drive from Laurel Hill House. Matt was very friendly and accommodating. The campsite was very well maintained and clearly marked. My dog Azalea and I had a great experience and will definitely be back!

The camping site at Locust Grove is magical. There were options to explore trails and the surrounding area, but we felt so comfortable and at peace right where we were we never left the site.
It is extremely pet friendly and our dog had the best time playing in the water!
The bed and linens were comfortable to sleep in,, as were the hammocks, and the outhouse was not at all inconvenient to use.
The site has electricity and cell phone service.
Monica has provided everything you need to have an amazing experience! We will be returning!

3 nights at Cherry Plain Sanctuary Farm
We loved camping at Cherry Plain! The teepee was spacious and extremely cool and the surrounding area was beautiful: trails leading into a fern-filled forest, horses and goats grazing in big pastures, a state park ten minutes away with a pretty pond to lay by. Jules and Jerome were very gracious and kind to us. Great hosts :) bring more blankets than you think though—the nights get cold! Julie provided us with some extra blankets. The site also had plenty of firewood and water provided.

I was there and it is well worth if you are looking for the forest feel and secluded pick lot #2
I slept in my car and was great.
If you want to be for yourself but still not too much in the forest then take lot 1 or 3

This site is in a really peaceful location. It’s nice to have the toilets available on site as well. Make sure to bring a way to wash up afterwards as there is a water pump nearby, but I am not sure if there is more than 1 and I am not sure if it is available when an RV is hooked up to it. The host was welcoming and offers EV charging at an additional fee if you need it!

We had a fantastic evening on James’ land. The directions were clear and our arrival time flexible. James met us on onsite to explain the lay of things as well as show us to the outhouse. He provided a good amount of kindling and firewood, with plenty more accessible all around. A large container of non-potable water was also provided. While not deep in the woods, the site felt secluded. Thanks James!

beautiful site tucked into a very lush forest with huge trees, a decent amount of privacy and a whole lot of birds. one of the ponds is very close by and made for a really nice sunset picnic spot. the walk in felt a bit longer than 800 ft but worth it to get into the more majestic/wilderness part of the property
