We loved the camping out here. We stayed in a tent and the tent site was perfect for our tent and included a bench, firepit and cooking area I setup our camp stove on. Saw deer while walking the trails and other animals.

Perfection is the only way to describe this hidden gem. The host, Joe, could not have been more amazing. From greeting to departure I feel that I made a friend. Quiet, peaceful and beautiful. Made it into downtown Arcadia and had a great lunch and did some shopping. Close to peace river to find shark teeth. I hope joe keeps this place for years to come.

Joe was a great host. Easy to talk to and very accommodating with his property. We loved our camp site and enjoyed all of the wildlife it had to offer. It is even more active early in the mornings. A lovely walk around the property doesn't disappoint. Joe loves to entertain the birds and squirrels as well. So many animals flourish to this site. We saw a bobcat, otters, an array of birds, deer, a turkey and some cows. I will definitely be back!!!! Thank you joe!

This place is amazing and Joe is a great host. Space was great and everything needed was there. Being able to wake up early and go take walk to see the sunrise and the cows is nothing but perfect! Definitively staying here again whenever I need some rest from the city.

I really loved the whole spot, I wish I would’ve booked for more days honestly. There’s a ton of little trails to explore, I saw like 5 deers and horses came to the fence to say hello in the morning! Although there were other campers I literally couldn’t see or hear them, so it felt super private. The host is genuinely cool and you can tell he loves his place because of the attention to detail. There’s a bathroom for us to use, water if you need to shower or clean pots+pans, and plenty of curiosities on the property to entertain yourself with. I recommend this spot a thousand times over.

This was such a convenient stop for us while visiting friends in the area. The pull through sites were plenty large enough for us & our toad plus having a nice grassy area to walk our dogs. Would highly recommend if you want a simple site in the area.

We were met in the parking lot with a doggie bag before we even got set up! Such a nice treat for our pups! We ended up staying with friends and were just in and out daily. Although it was basically a parking lot, there was plenty of green space to walk your dogs and it seemed very safe and secure.

Tent campsites are generously sized, and include a bench, fire pit, and cooking area. They are also very shaded and private. Joe welcomed us on arrival, and showed us to our site, and was available to answer questions.
Note that if your campsite is not vehicle accessible, you will have to bring your tent/supplies to your site (Joe has a huge wheelbarrow to assist). We also arrived late in the day. This also means you will have to secure your food at night in your vehicle, if your cooler is full.
Bathroom and sink are very clean (just remember to bring a light source whether it's day or night). Although showers are available, as a woman, a privacy enclosure would have been ideal that is away from a common sitting area.
Overall, Area 61 is a hidden gem and would highly recommended it.

Second time camping here!! First time we had the entire site to ourselves! Second time we had a couple camp neighbors who were very considerate. Both times were both very relaxing & nice 🙂 Joe is a great host & very accommodating if you need anything!

This facility was grate, we travel with our black lab and the owners allow for us to walk our dog to our harts content on the grounds. The parking area is paved and flat with good electric hookup. There is water to fill your water storage tank. This facility is very clean and well maintained with just the right amount of night time lighting for safety. We will definitely visit again when we are in the Port Charlotte area.

My family and I had a blast at Area 61! I most definitely look forward to camping here again in the near future. Very peaceful for those looking to get away from city life. Publix is 15 minutes away just incase you need to make a quick grocery store run. Lots of wildlife in the area. Jo was very accommodating and also gave you your privacy. Thanks again for a great time Jo, I really appreciate what you’ve done with the place !

We had the whole place to ourselves and had an amazing time! We loved walking the property and sitting on the benches to watch the animals. Deer, turkeys, cows , birds, squirrels. Every tent site has a fire pit and a separate grill and plenty of flat area to put your tent. There’s also rv sites and a very nice area for a large group to camp together. We can’t wait to go back!

Joe has a great piece of land that you can camp at and also explore. He also has a lounge area that offers hanging chairs and a hot tub. He was very accommodating with our stay. It was a pleasure meeting him and staying at his property. I look forward to coming back.
