Load up your RV for an overnight stay near historic Fort Ord Dunes State Park.
Just north of Monterey on the Central California Coast, Seaside provides direct access to Fort Ord Dunes State Park. This former army post has been a park since 2009 and is a great place to go for a waterfront stroll, but you won't be able to pull up your RV or campervan as the park lacks camping facilities—at least for now. Fortunately, you'll find a handful of privately owned RV parks in and around town, with plenty more options at public parks up the coast along the San Francisco Peninsula. Head inland to find wooded RV campgrounds and Hipcamps, some of which keep things intimate by only hosting a few groups of campers at a time. RV amenities in Seaside can range from rustic sites for self-contained rigs to community RV parks with dump stations, showers, full hookups, and wifi.
