The Lost Dutchman Italian Bar Camp is a 160 acres of Priviately Owned Patented Mining land and our priviate campground located in the Stanislaus National Forest and on the South Fork of the Stanislaus River, which runs through the camp.
Camping is available on both side of the river making the Italian Bar camp a destination for campers since we rebuilt the camp from the ground up in the late 1970’s.
Whether you want to relax in your campsite listening to the river, dip your toes in the cool waters or try your hand at panning for gold, I-Bar offers all of this and more. Little History:
The property was discovered and first settled around 1849 as a gold rush mining camp. At one time over 3,000 people lived here and mined for gold. When the gold rush came to an end so did Italian Bar. Until over a hundred years later, In 1976 when our founder fell in love with this remote property and purchased the land and we began rebuilding the I-Bar camp from the ground up and opened it to our members. It didn't hurt that somewhere close by Our founder found a 800oz pocket of gold. Even today, Prospecting for gold is encouraged!
If you want to try your hand at “Gettin on some of the shiny” let the Caretakers know! We have a few gold pans we loan out that are just waiting for some color to make you smile.
Of course we have pans for sale.
If you’re an avid outdoors person, carrying a gold pan with you just makes sense.

Your campsite will be nestled among animal enclosures, listen to the munching of hay or the snorting of the horse. I have a couple of spots but I would be flexible regarding campsite. My toilet is a compost toilet. The outside shower has been upgraded with privacy curtains etc following suggetions from previous campers ;)
I have a million $$ view and a modest house. My house is about 45 minutes from the Yosemite park entrance and it's an easy commute back/forth. Flowering vines cover my outdoor porches where we have big dinners when Wwoofers or Couchsurfers are in residence. The property is home to many animals, horse, goats, pigs, chickens, peacocks, rabbits, guinea pigs - dogs & cats - of course! :-) . The roosters wake us up pretty early so fair warning about that - but I love living with them and it makes the property so much more friendly with all the critters. My house is pet friendly and yours are welcome if they are 1. Fixed, 2. Are social and friendly with my pets, 3. Will not chase the cats and chickens. I can babysit your pups if you go to the park - provided they are compliant with rules above. I work from home. There are loads of trails nearby and 2 pretty ponds and plenty of wildlife, deer, turkeys and more. The property is rolling hills however there are plenty of flat areas for tents. NO FIRES PERMITTED ANYWHERE ON MY PROPERTY APRIL-OCTOBER - non negotiable.

If you are looking for man made and leveled campsites, then this is not your basecamp. This land is a gorgeous 20 acres that means a lot to us.
It's space to find your peace of mind and pitch a tent or hammock, as you would when hiking the backcountry.
Aside from complimentary ice water, potty, shower, soaps, sanitizer, sunscreen, first aid, communal fire pit, wood stove and dishwashing area) this is not "glamping".
If you are a person who appreciates nature and making due with what the land has provided, then we are a great fit.

This is for people that know how to camp in the backcountry -
Without a trash can, who don’t leave cigarette butts, respect the land and would rather not be sectioned off.
Flat areas are all over if you explore, and use your feet to brush aside rocks and twigs, to lay down a tent base, as we do every time we camp in the backcountry.
The geography of these mountains is just that, hills and mountains. The vista at the top of the property is gorgeous and easily camps 5 tents spaced out. The property does offer many other great camping areas, and I’m more than happy to point them out.
Yosemite is 30 minutes away, Don Pedro lake is 30 minutes, Cherry Lake is 30 minutes, Preston falls and Carlon falls are both 30 min away. Downtown Groveland Is 7 minutes away, and other historic towns are not too far.
Close to many swimming holes. Rainbow pools is 15 minutes away. 10 min from the local grocery store and other local shops. Base Camp is just off of highway 120. Sonora has a great farmers market on Sunday and is a beautiful 40 min drive away.

This slip is located on a little over 3 acres. 30amp electric hookups, septic and potable water all at the site. WiFi and a shared laundry building with a half bath on the property just a short walk from your slip.

Really quite easy to get to lots of amenity on site. Nice community areas. Great hot showers. Overall, really well done you get your since of privacy everywhere. I love the fact the host has a lot of eco-friendly amenities built into the infrastructure very inspirational

Upon arrival to my campsite I was greeted by a wonderful view! The location sits on top of a ridge that overlooks the canyon, Tuolumne falls and Tuolumne river.
The hosts were great! They accommodated my stay with a campsite that allowed me access by motorcycle. Communication was great and they answered all my questions at a timely manner. There are good amenities there: warm showers and clean bathrooms. They provide a fire ring with propane for an additional cost but worth it. Access to gas and food is nearby along with a short drive into Yosemite National Park.
I would recommend booking sooner than later as camp spots fill up quickly. I will definitely be booking again soon. One thing they also provide is the opportunity to go water rafting. This will be something I consider on my next stay. Thank you to Liza and Tom for your hospitality. God bless.

Tom and Liza are excellent communicators. They even let me know that bad weather was coming in and I might want to make different arrangements for my second night. I felt cared for. Bathrooms and showers are wonderful. Towels and soap provided.

We had a fantastic stay at the RedTail Ranch. The grounds were beautiful and well conserved. The signage was excellent and clear. The communal areas were cozy and useful. The hot shower was perfect after a long day exploring Yosemite. Easy access to the park. Highly recommend and will likely be back!

Had a great stay here. Loved every second we got there just in time to an orange and purple sky over the mountains and were immediately sold. Close to everything, markets up the street and the restroom/showers were very nice.

This property was absolutely beautiful. We brought 3 large motorhomes towing Jeeps or an enclosed trailer onto the property. The road into the property says it's 2 way, but realistically it's one way! Our 41' motorhome pulling a trailer struggled a little on the hill getting into the campsite. It was pleasant to have the cows so close, and the owner provided a lot of firewood. The campfire helped keep the mosquitos away. Trees were trimmed so we wouldn't have to worry about scratches on our rigs. Although we didn't use them, there were porta potties and showers nearby, and AT&T phone service was strong. We commuted in and out of this property to Yosemite. It was a very pleasant!

The campsite was stunning. Gorgeous views of the river / waterfall. Beautiful place to see the sunset. Camp was super well maintained. Bathrooms / showers were really clean and functional. Liza and Tom were super attentive, accommodating and responsive hosts. We stayed for 3 nights and would have stayed longer if we could. We stayed at the Yosemite Falls site with our 21.1’ campervan and it worked perfectly. Super close to Yosemite as well!!

Our van 🚐 fit perfectly on site #4 with no leveling needed. The views in the morning were extraordinary 🤩⛰️⛰️☕️
Liza was very responsive and accommodating 😁🙏. They even had bath towels in the shower 🚿 room

This property is such a great find. It was raining off and on the weekend we were there to visit Yosemite and it was such a gift to have the covered area to cook & eat under. The bathrooms are nice & clean and the hot water was wonderful— a luxury not often available at campgrounds. I would definitely stay here again. It was just a short drive back to the campground after spending the day in Yosemite, with grocery stores and gas nearby.

What an absolute gem of a place! It's so obviously loved and cared for- and we had a wonderful stay to the point that we skipped our last day at Yosemite to hang out at Red Tail Ranch and walk around the meadow, play in the hammock, do yoga, read in the beautiful barn, and wash up in the epic shower. Rob is great & gave us such good advice for the area, and it was so fun to see his books in all the shops in the park! We had the place to ourselves but planning to come back with a big group, it's perfect for that. 10/10 would recommend!

We had a great time here. It was pretty quiet not alot of people. My kids found friends to play with pretty much every day! We did get to see a bear run through camp which was fun! We were a short drive from the sugar pine train ride and the ride to the park wasnt to bad either.
