Our love affair with wine began in the late ’90s, surrounded by the vineyards of Sonoma County. The tasting rooms, the people, the passion—it was contagious. Alyse found herself working for a boutique winery owned by Korbel, gaining an inside look at the magic behind the bottle. Inspired, we began dreaming of our own place—a vineyard built from the ground up with family, heart, and hard work.
In 2002, we found that perfect piece of land. Set at 800 feet elevation with rolling hills, majestic oaks, and wide open skies, we planted our first acre of Zinfandel in 2005 and officially opened Hickman Family Vineyards to the public on Mother’s Day 2011. Since then, our family—kids included—has been hands-on with every aspect of the vineyard, winery, and tasting room.

Lake Oroville was created by the Oroville Dam, which the State Department of Water Resources completed in 1967 after 5 years of construction. Lake Oroville conserves water for distribution by the State Water Project to homes, farms, and industries in the San Francisco Bay area, the San Joaquin Valley and Southern California. The Oroville facilities of the project also serve to provide flood control and smog free generation of electric power in addition to recreation.
When the Lake is at its maximum elevation, it includes some 15,500 surface acres for recreation and 167 miles of shoreline. This land is located less than 20 mins to multiple different Yuba River access points. We are also located in the Armpit of Nevada county with 3 access ways 15 mins each way to Grass Valley, Nevada City or Penn Valley.
The neighborhood of this area is also one of the more safer bike friendlier places, you can ride into town along the NID trails, or set up camp and head up the 20HWY less than 20 mins to enjoy Epic Mountain Biking Trails.
Not only are we crafty, but also nature enthusiasts to feel free to reach out and ask about fun things to do here, if you are looking to stay busy exploring the nature. We also have a beautiful sunset hike that overlooks some beautiful views.
Oracle Oak Grove has a wide variety of camping options.
We have a camp grounds on the lower end of the property that currently hosts 4 different camp sites. the 3 May Pole zone, and 1 Faerie fields.
There is one shared Bonfire zone that can be used for friends camping together during the spring and late fall months when we are not in fire season.
We love hosting groups and birthday parties. Also individual campers as well.
We have two yurts available if you are more into the Glamping experience or especially if camping in the winter.
The Witches Hut and The Little Witch Hut!
The Witches Hut which is larger and can fit a family of 3 or 4.
This hut includes a patio, grill, and Private entrance.
The Little Witch Hut is smaller and more suitable for a couple or a single person wanting some solo retreat time. This one has cooking amenities accessible in an outdoor kitchen just outside the yurt. This one also gets better access to the Starlink available on the property. This yurt has the compost toilet outside and is a less than minute walk to it.
Both yurts have the ability to park fairly close to them and both are fully furnished. The Yurts are available for a higher expense than the camping of course.
We are sorry to say that Hot tub season is now closed.
We do have a wood-fired Cedar Hot tub, she is our Cauldron she is only available during winter and very early spring visits. I am sorry, but due to fire season and her being wood-fired she is not available outside hot tub season.
If you are interested in the experience it requires advanced noticed as well as an extra charge for wood, cleaning, and tending. She is a labor of love, and such a unique experience. Enjoy the smell of cedar, chlorine free waters under the stars.

PLEASE come check in before DARK. We are in a very Rural Area and it can be difficult to see a night where to park and camp. We have pathways and lights to guide, but there is a DESIGNATED parking zone and a cart available to carry your stuff to your CAMPSITE. This is not a CAR Camping spot there is ONE car camping site and the rest you is a very short walk to your site. Thank you.

Jones Bar Farm is a quiet little seven acre hobby farm at the end of the paved section of Jones Bar Rd in Nevada City, CA. We have 4 alpacas and about a dozen chickens, who free-range all over the farm.
The farm is perched near the edge of the South Yuba River canyon at about 2100 ft elevation. We are "above the fog, and below the snow (usually)." Summers are hot and dry here. Daytime temps in July and August are typically in the 90s, and night time temps are in the 70s. Spring and Fall are our favorite seasons.

Camping here is a semi-primitive experience, since there is no bathroom, and no garbage service. There is, however, potable water, and the campsites are easy to access and relatively flat.
Past our property, the unpaved, and very rough, section of Jones Bar Rd continues down into the South Yuba River canyon for about 2 miles, to a lovely swimming hole. Bicycling and hiking are very popular activities in this area.
If you are bringing your dog with you on your travels, you will want to be aware of the many unpleasant sticker weeds that are prevalent everywhere around here. Foxtails, filaree, and hitch-hiker weeds will all find their way into your dog’s fur.
The farm is about 6 miles from both Nevada City and Grass Valley. Both towns have lively and interesting down-towns with good shopping and restaurants.

Weekend Trip to Tranquillity Base Ranch
It was a great little spot for a nice relaxing getaway. The amenities were very nice. Sauna and the tub work very well hand in hand. I highly recommend this place if you want some nice peace and quiet.

This site is an absolute dream! If you’re looking for a place that treats you like family, look no further because this is it! They were both so welcoming and always available when we had a question or concern. The campgrounds are absolutely stunning. The views are so beautiful and breathtaking. We had a phenomenal time exploring the area, playing on the swing, hitting the ping pong table, having a move night, giving some love to their dog, Bronson, and making new friends. We are definitely coming back to make more memories!

We absolutely love spending time at Pleasant Valley Creekside Ranch! I have spent my last two birthday weekends there. With all of Tanya's upgrades you couldn't ask for more. She has put so much thought, love and care into the property. My son loves all the activities, my dogs love swimming in the creek and we love relaxing and spending time together. We hope to see you next year!

This place is truly a gem, and Renée is a fantastic host! The trailer is equipped with everything you could need, and we were welcomed with a gorgeous bouquet of wildflowers picked from Renée’s garden, along with a thoughtful selection of refreshments.
The property is only five minutes from Nevada City, yet it feels completely peaceful and immersed in nature. During our stay, we saw deer, rabbits, frogs, quails, and were serenaded all day by a wide variety of birds. To top it all off, the wildflowers were in full bloom, and we loved relaxing on the swing above the property while taking in the beautiful views surrounded by flowers.
We already miss our weekend there and are looking forward to coming back!

we enjoyed our stay - the property is lovely and mike was very welcoming and helpful. my only critique would be that the hipcamp listing could be clearer about what is provided at the camp. upon arriving, we realized that the sites do not have a picnic table or a fire pit, even though it appears so on the listing says picnic tables are present and campfires allowed. mike has a communal fire pit set up in the middle of the property, which worked great for our needs, but we would’ve brought our own portable fire pit for our campsite had we known. luckily, we brought a foldable table as well, but if we hadn’t, it would’ve been tough to do much of anything at our site.

Weekend Trip to Ridgetop Ranch Getaway
We had a wonderful stay at this Chris and Rebecca’s site! The views were absolutely stunning, especially at sunset—the perfect way to end each day. The host was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay.
The campsite was very clean and well maintained, which made the experience even more enjoyable. One of the highlights was movie night, which added a fun and unique touch to the camping experience. We also loved that the campsite felt peaceful and secluded while still being conveniently close to town for supplies, food, and exploring the area.
Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway with beautiful scenery and great hospitality. We would definitely stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Ridgetop Ranch Getaway
We stayed at the Ridgetop Travel Trailer (POD). We were the first people to stay at this site as it was newly added. Property is great. Rebecca and Chris were wonderful host and very welcoming. They were working on getting the water in the trailer working so we had to just use the bathroom in the basement of their house which isn’t a far walk. I’m sure when they get that water working in the trailer it will be an even greater experience. Thanks Rebecca and Chris! We enjoyed our stay.

This property was absolutely wonderful. We had a family of 10 and with both tents it was perfect. The kitchen area was very well stocked with anything you could think of. The dining tent was great. The kids loved the pool and the adults loved the jacuzzi. The creek was beautiful, refreshing to play in, and the toys available for use were so fun. We loved how private the campsite was.
The bell tent was really beautiful. There is nothing the hosts haven’t thought of. From lighting, blankets, flashlights, seating. All of the detail the host put into the property really made us feel welcome and enhanced our overall experience.
We had planned to go fishing at the South Yuba River, but everyone was having such a great time with all the property had to offer, we just stayed and enjoyed the campsite instead.
5 star experience!

Mary and the site were great! The kids had a blast running around and jumping on the trampolines and playing in the creek. The adults (3 families) also relaxed and enjoyed our surroundings. Mary was very communicative and was thoughtful enough to show us some cool tiny animals she was taking to rescue organizations.

Weekend Trip to Tambo Ranch Tiny House Village
We absolutely loved this cozy getaway! It was the perfect spot to recharge. Carolyn and Julio were so genuine and have made a beautiful property. We loved getting to visit with all of the animals and enjoying dinner on the patio. We both said that we would come back again but this time bring the kiddo along to enjoy it too.

Weekend Trip to The Land: An Off-grid Refuge
Rachel's land was beautiful and lush! The bus was cozy and comfy, the bed was firm but supportive! We cooked every meal and didn't encounter any issues. It was definitely mosquito season so we kept the bus door shut :) We used the bath tub in the greenhouse and saw two frogs weeeee!
Rachel was extremely accommodating! She let us use her food processor as a coffee grinder hehe! We will be back!

We had a wonderful stay and left feeling relaxed and refreshed. The property is peaceful, with plenty of space to explore and enjoy nature. We especially appreciated how close it was to both Nevada City and the Yuba River, which made it easy to enjoy, local charm, and time by the water. The host was warm and accommodating, and we would absolutely return.

Went with my 5 year old son and dog. It was such a fun place! I wish we had stayed for longer. The hosts were great and there were a lot of amenities that we didn’t expect. Beautiful outdoor kitchen, toilets, and lots of tables and chairs for lounging. The tents are close to one another but worked fine with us. Folks seemed courteous. I will definitely book again!
