Welcome to "The Leafy Lookout" (Site 5), a premier retreat within the exclusive Camp Wildlands Yuba private campground. Unwind on your own private wooden platform, where you can enjoy a dappled view of the crystal-clear river water framed by majestic Oak and Madrone trees. This elevated deck provides a clean, level base for your setup, nestled right into the vibrant Northern California hillside. The platform is about twenty feet wide by twenty-five feet long. Getting to your sanctuary is simple with easy road access. While there is no permanent parking directly at the site, you are welcome to pull up to the entrance to drop off your gear. From there, it’s just a short walk to the platform, after which you’ll move your vehicle to the designated parking area at the top of the property to keep the riverside views unobstructed. For your convenience, this site features its own water spigot located right next to the platform. Like the rest of our pristine wilderness, campfires are strictly prohibited at this site to protect the surrounding forest. While you'll enjoy a sense of independence at your private deck, you still have full access to the camp’s communal shared spaces for gathering and amenities

Tucked away from the main access road and requiring a short hill walk to reach, this site provides a peaceful buffer from vehicle traffic and a true sense of privacy at your personal camp setup. While your sleeping area is situated well away from other campers—offering a quiet, stand-alone experience overlooking the grassy hillside and river views—you still have full access to the camp's shared amenities. You can enjoy the best of both worlds: a private sanctuary to retreat to, and communal shared spaces for gathering or freshening up. To help protect this delicate Northern California landscape, campfires are strictly prohibited at all times. It is the perfect spot for those seeking undisturbed views of the stars and the meadow, with the convenience of shared facilities just a short stroll away. When you arrive, you can pull up to the unloading zone at the top of the hill directly above the site to drop off your gear. Once you've unloaded, please move your vehicle to the designated parking area at the top of the property. From there, it’s just a brief walk down the hill to your tucked-away campsite.

Hillside Perch (Site 1)

Perched above the rest of the camp, "Hillside Perch" (Site 1) offers an elevated, open-air camping experience, with views of the surrounding campground fronting a wilderness backdrop. Situated directly above the road within the exclusive Camp Wildlands Yuba private campground, this site provides easy access with only a few steps up a unique four-step rock staircase built directly into the rock wall bordering the site. Truly a work of art. The site is about twenty feet wide by seventy five feet long offering space for two or three tents and a camp table. While there is no parking directly at the site, you are welcome to pull up to the entrance to drop off your gear. After gear drop off, you’ll move your vehicle to the designated parking area at the top of the property to keep the access road open. As part of a communal camping area, this site is designed for those who enjoy the shared energy of a group setting. Its open layout provides clear visibility to neighboring campers, making it an ideal choice for social travelers or those who prefer the security of being within sight of others. To preserve the pristine natural environment and protect the hillside, campfires are strictly prohibited at all times, ensuring a quiet, low-impact stay, focused on the sights and sounds of the Yuba River basin.

The "Star Gazer’s Haven" (Site 4) offers a bright and tranquil retreat within the exclusive Camp Wildlands Yuba private campground. Positioned on the opposite side of the fence from the main activity areas and shared amenities, this site provides a semi-private experience, only sharing its access road with one other neighboring spot, "The Leafy Lookout" (Site 5). The site is about twenty feet wide (not including the road) by fifty-five feet long offering space for a small vehicle, a couple tents, and a camp table. When parking at the site, please pull well over toward the riverside of the campsite so the access road stays open for others. The open-field setting grants you stunning, tree filtered views of the river and 360-degree vistas of the Northern California sky. While you'll enjoy a sense of independence and separation at your personal setup, you still have full access to the camp’s communal shared spaces for your convenience. To protect the surrounding golden grasses and maintain this pristine environment, campfires are strictly prohibited at all times. It is the perfect home base for those seeking a quiet, stand-alone sanctuary to watch the river by day and enjoy an incredible celestial show by night.

Right at the heart of the action, "Shady Oaks" (Site 3) offers a prime, central location within the exclusive Camp Wildlands Yuba private campground. Situated directly on the access road, this site is the ultimate spot for those who love to be part of the camp's energy. Its open layout provides clear views of the neighboring campsites, making it a great choice for social campers who enjoy the communal atmosphere of the grounds and easy access for unloading your gear. This site is adjacent the "Hillside Perch" (Site 5), is about fifteen feet wide by about 65 feet long offering space for two tents and a camp table, or a small vehicle. When parking at the campsite, please ensure your vehicle is parked off the access road to keep it clear and open for others. The site is perfectly positioned for convenience, located just steps away from the shared restroom and the communal eating pavilion. During the day, you can relax under the wide branches of a majestic oak tree that provides plenty of natural shade. To protect the surrounding woodland and this beautiful heritage oak, campfires are strictly prohibited at all times. It’s an ideal home base for anyone who wants easy access to all the camp’s amenities while staying right in the middle of it all.

Star Gazers Haven (Site 4)
This is a special site with great amenities right next to the river. We reserved site 4 and 5 together, which I recommend if you’re looking for a more secluded vibe. The camp kitchen and bathroom are fantastic, as were the sweet lounge chairs on the path to the river. The river access is super cute (not exactly a beach but easy access to water), and I wish we had brought a SUP or kayak to explore more. We would definitely stay again.

the place is clean, secluded, and the amenities are immaculate. there's even access to the river! didn't have much luck fishing, but it's probably my fault. would absolutely recommend this place for camping!

Star Gazers Haven (Site 4)
July 2026 I stayed 2 nights at Campsite #4/Star Gazers Haven. There is enough room for 2 tents and 2 cars at this site. This site was more private than site #2 and #3, and while we were there we rarely saw the campers in site #1 unless we were using the shared kitchen area. The bathrooms are wonderful. It was so nice to have multiple dedicated sinks & hot water to do camp dishes. There are additional areas to hang out or take a little walk to & sit overlooking the river. Be advised, while there is shore access, I did not feel confident with taking my kayak or paddleboard due to the very limited "beach" sandy area along the river. My favorite part of this campground was how quiet and secluded it was. The dirt road is about 1.5 mile long and while trailers/RV's are allowed I would not advise on bringing yours. There are 2 sharp turns and very limited space to turn around. The South Yuba State Park is only a short drive from the campsite. This was AWESOME!!! Being so close to the state park area & having a place to get out of the hot weather made this one of my favorite camp trips ever. ** Important ** if you decide to book site #4, you need to be aware that if Campsite #5 is also booked, those campers will have to walk THRU YOUR campsite to access/and unload gear to their site. If I end up back in this area w/friends, I would book both site 4&5 together to have full access to the large deck and the largest parking area on property. Thanks!!

This property is so lovely and clean. Hosts were responsive. Wasn’t sure about the water current or ease of access to the river, so I didn’t bring my paddle board, but it would have worked out just fine. The water is deep and great for cold plunges in the heat. I had the whole property to myself for most of my stay, which was great for my dog too. Other campers were nice even so. I would definitely book again since it is so close to many spots. South Yuba River State Park is just out the driveway, practically! Amazing!

Shady Oaks (Site 3)
A lovely remote spot w/ easy access despite the dirt road……how else do you get that Remote feeling? The camping sites are mostly basic but the ‘Leafy Lookout’ site looked amazing, with its own deck and view. 4 ladies there were loving it. The kitchen and bathroom area was beyond expectations. Clean and stocked with supplies, warm water, picnic tables, kitchen sink & outdoor cooktop and BBQ. Plus, a lovely view deck above the river for lounging. The water access was kind of muddy, wish they had a mini dock, but easy access to the ‘still’ section of the river if you wanted to just float on a tube there. Kirby and Juniper were wonderful hosts who were quick to respond to questions. WiFi available with some spotty times, but in general, it worked fine. We will be back! Great location near the park (go early to get parking) and a 20 min. drive to Grass Valley.

Really beautiful and well laid out spot. We had plenty of privacy at our site and lots of room. The land is right above the river. There's no beach, but easy access if you want to jump in or fish. Very close to some incredible swimming holes as well

Our stay at the Leafy Lookout was magical! The deck itself has the dreamiest view of the lake and surrounding trees. It. was secluded from the rest of the camp it’s an easy walk to the bathrooms, river, access, and cooking area. The amenities were perfect and thoughtfully created. The outdoor stove and gathering areas made meals a breeze, and we love the luxury of flush toilets and hot showers at the end of the day. The site is so close to the swimming hole at South Yuba State Park and an easy drive to Grass Valley and Nevada City. We would absolutely stay here again and are already looking forward to doing so!

Absolutely fantastic private campsite on the river. Outdoor kitchen has everything you need for a big group. The bathrooms and showers were great- even had hot water. Potable drinking water on site too. In June there was no beach at the private river access, but you could still hang by the water and even take a quick dip if you can stand the cold! Half mile up the road has a good spot for fishing. Gravel road but easy access including with 2 wheel drive. Would definitely come back!

We loved staying at Camp Wildlands Yuba! Its a peaceful and quiet site overlooking the river. Its a short walk down to the river which was great. No beach when we were there but we loved the lounge chairs just above the water where we spent afternoons reading and napping. The camp kitchen shade area set up is great! very clean bathrooms and meals were easy with the BBQ grill. Very close to the epic swimming hole at South Yuba state park which was a highlight for the kids. We loved this site and would stay again. Thanks Kirby and Jennifer!
