Come stay at our beautiful, quiet, and welcoming sanctuary. There are about 100 acres of hardwood forest and meadows, ponds, and a seasonal creek. We are located 25 minutes from Nevada City, 15 minutes from 2 forks of the Yuba River, and only 10 minutes from a sweet little cafe in historic downtown North San Juan. The space you will be staying in is a masterpiece of wood work and is an experience all it’s own. If you are looking to unwind in nature, ground out in solitude or on a couples getaway we’d love to have you on our Land!

The Royal Palace is a meticulously crafted school bus masterpiece surrounded by oak and manzanita. Privy, fire ring, and bath house with Claw Foot tub are all nearby. Kitchen includes refrigerator, 2 burner range, and sink with cold running water. There is no electricity, but there is a rechargeable lamp. There are beautiful hiking trails in every direction and lots of space to explore nature. Additionally, you may drive 15 minutes to access 2 different forks of the Yuba River, 10 minutes to Historic North San Juan, which has a sweet Cafe, and 25 minutes to Nevada City.

The Manzanita Bus

A one-of-a-kind getaway in our classic renovated 1962 Bluebird school bus. Walk a short trail from the parking area to get to this magical, peaceful site. Tucked away within a peaceful grove of manzanita and oak trees on our serene acreage, this unique space offers a perfect retreat into nature for solo adventurers or couples. Inside, you'll find: A comfortable full-size bed, along with beautiful bamboo floors and a handcrafted custom kitchen. A private bath and shower with on-demand hot water, as well as a composting toilet. Epic sunset views. We are lucky enough to have a family of red-tailed hawks so you may see them soaring overhead, along with other wildlife (including squirrels, foxes and coyotes, and the occasional bear.) You'll also share the land with our friendly dogs, cats, and an elderly horse. Feel free to explore various walks nearby and check out our three seasonal ponds within tricky walking distance. Important Note on Height: This restored classic school bus retains its original dimensions. It is most comfortable for guests under 5'10". Glamping in converted bus
The Royal Palace
This converted bus was so cute and charming! It was so nice to wake up with the sun and trees visible through the window. The little kitchen was just what we needed. There were lots of mosquitos inside and outside and it got hot in the bus after cooking, but they have a little fan that helped a lot. The host was lovely and very helpful when we had questions. If you like an extra soft bed, maybe bring some padding, but this was an overall lovely glamping experience and I would recommend it.

The Royal Palace
This was a wonderful stay! The bus is a work of art and has everything you need for an off-grid weekend. Bed is super comfy. I really loved the bathhouse, water gets nice and hot. In a greenhouse it’s almost like a sauna on a mild night! The dogs/cats/horse we met were all very friendly. Pro-tip: you’ll want mosquito repellent :)

the magic school bus, but better!
The Royal Palace
this bus is utterly magical. i was blown away at the wood work. the craftsmanship is extraordinary. i was so very cozy for my spontaneous after work stay. i absolutely will turn for a longer visit. the shower house was such a unique experience as well. everything was perfect. the note was so helpful and honestly, this place is so great i almost don’t wanna share it. but i can’t recommend a stay enough!

Wonderful and magical getaway!
The Royal Palace
This is a wonderful place to stay, perfect for a couple’s getaway. The craftsmanship inside is a total labor of love. The wood stove makes it very warm and cozy. Our host was very responsive. Highly recommend!

Amazing bus palace!
The Royal Palace
Wowee what a special place! Rachel was super responsive and made sure we had everything we needed to have a nice stay, including a warm and comfy bed. Just a short drive to the river!
