Lake Oroville was created by the Oroville Dam, which the State Department of Water Resources completed in 1967 after 5 years of construction. Lake Oroville conserves water for distribution by the State Water Project to homes, farms, and industries in the San Francisco Bay area, the San Joaquin Valley and Southern California. The Oroville facilities of the project also serve to provide flood control and smog free generation of electric power in addition to recreation.
When the Lake is at its maximum elevation, it includes some 15,500 surface acres for recreation and 167 miles of shoreline. Recreation areas are spotted around the Lake and boaters can land at any point to explore the surrounding country. The lake offers a wide variety of outdoor activities including camping, picnicking, horseback riding, hiking, sail and power boating, water-skiing, fishing, swimming, boat-in camping, floating campsites and horse camping.

The Sierra Sol Camp project has been hosting community events and friend gathering for years. We take great pride in extending a warm and welcoming space for all our visitors and extending the invitation to campers was a great next step.
We have listings ranging from yurts to shipping containers, an old water tower converted to a vintage trailer and canvas tents.
We are based in between the middle fork of the Yuba river right where it meets up with Oregon Creek. If you like a long walk it is 2.5 miles down the dirt road to Oregon Creek and the middle fork of the Yuba. Driving takes 5 to 10 mins. The other direction is the largest lake in our county Bullards Bar Reservoir and Emerald Cove Marina. We are 1 mile down Marysville Rd. from a launch called dark day. There is a trailhead at the top of overflow boat parking for a public swimming hole on the lake.
On our property, we have a main house with its own private facilities such as a kitchen, shower, and bath. On the land, we have 9 total unique cabin and canvas tent structures converted into boutique-like campsites. We have an epic outdoor entertaining kitchen and patio with an outdoor pizza oven and a little dog rinse behind the outdoor shower. The bathhouse is right across the way and provides a private but shared guest shower house, tub and sink.
Like anywhere in the woods there is an hour at sunset when you may have mosquitoes down near the sites in the spring and some of the summers depending on the year. We have a natural spray for that or fans in the kitchen. Off the path, you may find poison oak in the thick of the woods. So please stay on the marked trails.

Camp cooking has never been easier, as the community kitchen is well equipped with 2 full-sized refrigerators, gas stove/oven, pots and pans, dishware, silverware, triple sink, and two outdoor barbeques. The cooks will especially appreciate our unique outdoor “dishwashing station” for each individual (even kids!) to efficiently wash their own dishes instead of using throw-away plastic for each meal. Our bathhouse has two private toilets, two private showers with hot water and a double sink. Bring your own towels and toiletries.

This 30 ft diameter Pacific yurt sits on 5 private acres with an occupied family home and granny unit nearby. Strategic design and landscape provide privacy for all. Large pine, cedars and oaks surround the living areas and we have done clearing for fire safety without compromising the environment. Jones Bar Farm is a quiet little seven acre hobby farm at the end of the paved section of Jones Bar Rd in Nevada City, CA. We have 4 alpacas and about a dozen chickens, who free-range all over the farm.
The farm is perched near the edge of the South Yuba River canyon at about 2100 ft elevation. We are "above the fog, and below the snow (usually)." Summers are hot and dry here. Daytime temps in July and August are typically in the 90s, and night time temps are in the 70s. Spring and Fall are our favorite seasons.

Camping here is a semi-primitive experience, since there is no bathroom, and no garbage service. There is, however, potable water, and the campsites are easy to access and relatively flat.
Past our property, the unpaved, and very rough, section of Jones Bar Rd continues down into the South Yuba River canyon for about 2 miles, to a lovely swimming hole. Bicycling and hiking are very popular activities in this area.
If you are bringing your dog with you on your travels, you will want to be aware of the many unpleasant sticker weeds that are prevalent everywhere around here. Foxtails, filaree, and hitch-hiker weeds will all find their way into your dog’s fur.
The farm is about 6 miles from both Nevada City and Grass Valley. Both towns have lively and interesting down-towns with good shopping and restaurants.

It’s the perfect place to unwind after a full day at the Yuba River, located just a convenient 20-minute drive away. The setting is wonderfully peaceful and quiet, and having access to hot showers made the stay feel extra comfortable. Campsite comes equipped with a fire pit, picnic table, and water spigot, with the clean bathroom and shower facility just a short, easy walk down the driveway. We loved our stay and would definitely come back!

We rented Adam’s cabins for our Ultimate Frisbee teams retreat! It exceeded our expectations.
Adam’s campground is a whimsical escape tucked into the hills near the Yuba river. During our stay, Adam was easily accessible for any questions we had. He was eager for us to enjoy our stay and made an effort to help us feel at home.
The lower cabins were shaded and stayed cool during the summer heat. All cabins were comfortable and cozy. Our 25 person group fit comfortably among the cabins. We would love to come back!

Weekend Trip to Sierra Sol Camp
This place was super fun and beautiful. I highly recommend. Would strongly suggest to arrive with the daylight so you can familiarize yourself with the facilities beforehand. Please note that there are no flush toilets so you’ll be using a compost toilet and an outhouse toilet. If needed there is also a shower facility and bath facility that are available to use. They also have all the utensils you could need for cooking within an amazing kitchen space outdoors that also has a small space for refrigerating in a common fridge area and then also a freezer in the back as well. We stayed in the yurt with two beds called Daisy Bell, and it was really comfortable not to mention the amazing view of the sky and moon at night.

3 nights at Perfect Getaway with Private Creeks
We had a fantastic time at this HipCamp. the creeks are even better than the photos. so beautiful and peaceful. We neither heard or nor saw anyone during the trip. the hammock under the big tree was perfect. the pressure in the shower was stronger than my one at home! plenty of water for the bath and shower. This is a paradise if you like nature photography. so many lizards, birds, butterflies, fish, bugs and more.
there does seem to be another tiny home type location nearby that is not occupied. I hope this maintains being a private space for some time yet though. it is so nice to be outside and not have to deal with unknown people who may be loud, messy, rude or hostile.
there was some trash leftover from previous guests that made us sad. let's respect this beautiful space!

I have been here a few times before and am always happy to be back. Chris is a great host and really cares for the land he is on. The location is wonderful, I come for the proximity to the river, but I would come back just to relax at the camp and read in the peace and quiet.

We enjoyed our stay here - as others have noted, it's close to town and the river, and the view cannot be beat. Also, it's very quiet - other guests respected the 10p noise curfew - and if you have younger kids(we do), there's an epic swing on the property.
We came with a Westy and a tent. There aren't designated tent areas, which was fine with us as we are accustomed to dispersed camping. I found a flat-enough spot that worked for me without much trouble. If you are used to state park campgrounds where leveled spots are obvious, know that these haven't been built out yet. Chris is thinking about leveling areas or building tent platforms in the future. Just know that it is a dispersed camping vibe.
We would definitely return here in the future.

Group trip
My friends and I decided to reserve the Serenity Cabin for our annual camping trip and we had the best time! The pictures do not do any justice at all bc in person, the entire site, the entire location, the art, everything was just BEAUTIFUL!! The cabin was gorgeous! From the little kitchenette, to the bed to the chandelier! And we appreciated the fact that it had a fan bc it was super hot throughout the weekend.
The deck was perfect for us to vibe to our music and lay out to gaze under the stars.
The outdoor sink and table were a huge plus! Easy cleanup after we were done cooking!
I wanted to give a huge thank you to Rebecca and Chris— they were so sweet and kind to us. Rebecca provided us with areas we could visit to beat the heat. And they were always available for any questions we had.
We can’t wait to book here again!!!!

Mark and Patricia's land was absolutely perfect! We had three big dogs that were able to roam freely and hang out, the kitchen and bathroom were perfect for our big group. We had more than enough space to fit over 10 tents comfortably. Mark and Patricia told us about good spots on the creek to go to, and we are planning to go back next year! Cannot recommend this place enough, would give them 1,000 stars if possible!!

Weekend Trip to The Land: An Off-grid Refuge
Rachel's land was perfect -- serene, beautiful; remote with amenities that made it feel quite comfortable. The bus was really cool, definitely a unique experience that i would recommend. we had a great time, and Rachel was a super host.

13 ft truck camper

This is a special site with great amenities right next to the river. We reserved site 4 and 5 together, which I recommend if you’re looking for a more secluded vibe. The camp kitchen and bathroom are fantastic, as were the sweet lounge chairs on the path to the river. The river access is super cute (not exactly a beach but easy access to water), and I wish we had brought a SUP or kayak to explore more. We would definitely stay again.
