The L3 Ranch was founded in 1974 when my grandfather bought the property for his show cows. In 1978, someone gave him a racehorse to pay off a debt. From then on, the property was known for its Quarter horse race horses, with some of the best in the state being born right here. In 2013 he found our he had cancer and handed the ranch down to me, Travis. While he survived the cancer, he's happy in retirement playing cards with his buddies every week and hanging out with his dog.Now the ranch is known for its horse boarding, cattle, and goats. We even hold weddings and events at the lake sometime. My main goal is to bring the ranch in a more in line with sustainable ranching. Its a process, but I love what I am doing, and where the ranch is going.

Our trip was excellent. The little house was super cute. The yard was very private, and was fully enclosed so our dog was free to roam the space. The bed was super comfortable. Malaina was a great host, she checked in a few times to see if we needed anything. We didn't, but it was nice to have that caring touch. The highlight of the place is definitely the outdoor shower; it's a simple one-pipe setup, but the temperature was great and water pressure was excellent. A great open-air way to wash off after a day of enjoying the local sites.

We had fun making friends with the llamas and donkeys and just relaxing in a place that felt like a nature preserve. Amazing value and amazing destination; I hope to get a chance to visit again. Alan came by with his dog pals Red and Sparky late in the afternoon and they made sure we had everything we needed, big thanks to him for providing such a nice place for my family to get out of the city and relax for one night on a Saturday. No pictures to share, I was too busy enjoying it that I didn't want to touch my phone at all, I recommend go check it out and do the same.

Weekend Trip to Angels Hideaway
Great stay at this yurt. It’s really well-stocked for glamping with a stove, running water, and a hot shower. Even with the shower being outside, the whole setup feels private and secluded. The biggest surprise was the bed—easily ranks one of the most comfortable we’ve slept on in any rental, period. The location is also a solid home base if you're checking out downtown Angels Camp or heading out to California Caverns. One heads-up for light sleepers: there was a dog barking way off in the distance at night, so pack some earplugs or use white noise just in case. Otherwise, an easy 10/10 setup and we’d definitely stay here again.

We had an amazing weekend here at Leards L3 ranch! The private lake was stunning! Tons of fishes and there and there are a few boats you can use. Bathrooms are super clean! Travis was super responsive and helpful. Highly recommended!

Alan’s Ranch was beautiful. Took my family of 15 people (7 adults and 8 kids) camping, some for the very first time.
Pros:
1. the animals- cows, llamas, horses, dog, peacock, turkey, chickens, rooster, calf, and bunnies
2. Fire wood—$15 for 1 day or $20 for 2 days
3. Large space to camp, play, and hangout
4. There are lights already strung around the camp site, some need to be plugged in near the sink.
5. Alan let us go with him to feed the cows
6. Sunset was gorgeous
7. Affordable and not too far from SF
8. Not too far from the closest city
9. Stargazing
10. Plenty of tables and chairs
Cons:
1. Bathrooms were a bit far
2. Cold showers
3. Dogs peed on everything— tents, chairs, 10x10, coolers, cars, etc
Side note— this is a farm so there are a lot of different animal (mostly roosters, donkeys, and dogs ) noises all throughout the night. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper

We actually like this campsite. My husband wants to come back and bring his MTB since there were a lot of trails to explore. We hiked there too. We spent a day in the water. Site 15 was perfect for us. There were 9 of us total. John was very responsive and awesome people he has. Helpful. And we love peanut and D.O.G 🤭
