Red Dragonfly Ranch Yosemite

Pretty sweet camping setup for a little private 7 site. Don’t choose site 7, although it’s nice that it’s by the creek (pretty dry late August but I’m sure great earlier) the bug problem is INSANE. A couple reviews touched on it but oh my god. Bees hive must be near plus so many flies and mosquitos. Most of the solar lights need new batteries too and there’s a decent sized black berry bush that needs to be cut out. We almost changed sites but we didn’t spend any time during the day. If you plan any time during the day here expect tons of bees and bugs. Including by the shared grill which was great but so many bees. They won’t sting but really annoying. If the hives are all filled with foam this will be a sweet spot. Bathrooms were immaculately clean and shower looked good. Also super loud birds that sound like monkeys in the morning. But at night the crickets and frogs are perfect. Oh also it says you can have campfires but that’s a lie and it’s those propane burners.

Rustic Yosemite Stay w/Suprises

Overall, my experience at Red Dragonfly Ranch was positive, but there were several unexpected challenges. It can be a great, rustic base for visiting Yosemite, especially if you have a vehicle that can comfortably handle steep hills and loose gravel. I had expected the hosts to be present and pictured returning to a ranch with other people around. Instead, I had the entire property to myself, which felt much more isolated and unsettling than I anticipated. The numerous cameras also made the setting feel less private. The campground layout was unclear, and I was never able to locate campsite 1. I eventually camped near sites 2 and the communal gazebo because I felt safer closer to the entrance. The shower and bathroom were downhill from my campsite, which made them inconvenient to access. Use extreme caution on the lower section of the property. I drove my minivan around the perimeter and nearly became stuck in deep, loose gravel at the bottom of a steep hill. I had to use significant power to get back uphill and stayed near the entrance afterward. This stay is best suited for someone comfortable with solitude, rustic camping conditions, steep terrain, and a remote setting.

Great spot for Yosemite day trips

This was a great place to stay. We originally reserved site #1, but it was hot and sunny so we moved to site #6 which was shaded and lovely. Leo has great amenities— hot outdoor (enclosed) showers, clean porta potties, soft lighting at night so you can make your way to the potties, clean trash cans, and lots of parking space. Leo was very responsive thru the app. We got woken up early by the free range rooster, but that was ok :). Also saw a bobcat walk past our campsite!! Definitely recommend this place to stay for folks doing day trips into Yosemite.

Wonderful little spot

Great campsite - almost like glamping, with an awesome outdoor shower, super clean bathrooms (portapotties) and kitchen sink to wash dishes. We loved the chickens - even though Mr. Sweatpants (what we called the rooster) was excited to wake us up in the morning. He and Ms. Henny were very friendly and added some fun to the whole endeavor. Site 6 was definitely the best - tucked away, shaded, and close to the stream.

Dragonfly ranch is a great place to stay for a trip to Yosemite! Count a 40 minutes drive to the park entrance. Very calm and peaceful place and beautiful surroundings. Great and clean amenities.

Really nice spot, the amenities were acceptable, showers were very hot, toilets were a little full when we arrived but they get serviced every seven days by the looks so they were serviced on the second day we stayed. There is a lovely little diner/cafe on the corner of the road heading to the farmhouse that I highly recommend - the food was sensational. Good spot for visiting Yosemite, it was about 1.5 hours to the Big Oak Flat entrance. Overall was a well maintained spot that was quiet and felt safe.

Overall we had a very enjoyable experience. Things to note about site 1: there is a lack of shade during the day so expect a lot of direct sunlight from midday to late afternoon, a bit of a walk from the bathroom/sink, and it is too far to connect to the WiFi.

Peaceful, clean, convenient

Nice and peaceful! Good location - it feels like you are secluded from the business of Yosemite tourism, but close enough to a gas station and local shop for supplies. A straight easy shot to Yosemite. The camp was clean and tidy and had nice little touches to make it feel a little magical and warm. Site 7 is tucked away in its own private corner by a lovely creek. Basic amenities, which is totally fine for us!

Wonderful camping gem

I am a solo traveler who stayed here for three nights while exploring Yosemite. I would strongly recommend this spot to anyone! I am wildly impressed by the cleanliness and upkeep of this property along with the amenities (bathrooms, outdoor showers, dish washing sink with sponges and soap provided). The string lights/ bird songs/ crickets and the sounds of the stream in the back were exactly what I look for in a camping trip. Truly a wonderful stay. Additionally, this property has amazing attentive hosts! I hope to see Yosemite again and if I do I will certainly be staying here. Very close to a nearby town with markets, food, and gas stations. One last note, I loved the chickens on property! They would always come by to say hello when I arrived back to my site for the evening. 11/10 this place is a gem.

Camping near Yosemite!

I loved camping on Lily's land! The sites are spacious, and each one is spaced out properly. Everything is clean--even the porta potties. There were two other sites nearby, but it was quiet. The views are beautiful, and my daughter loved the brook near by. We had site #7 and it was facing the brook. We loved the sound of the frogs and the water at night. I enjoyed the clear skies at night for star viewing. I would definitely come back.

First-time at Site # 5

My first time camping far from home. Location was easy to find. The sites are organized. Site #5 was by the creek. Lots of space for a 2 room tent. And I felt safe as a female solo camper. I enjoyed the site mostly being in the shade. The ground is rocky, keep it mind when using stakes. It was a little difficult getting stakes in but I managed. Will definitely return again and try a different site.

An absolutely beautiful and well-kept site! The sounds of the creek (which include frogs croaking) will lull you right to sleep. Leo, the groundskeeper, was very welcoming and kind! As mentioned in another review, we were the only campers so Lily and Leo allowed us to roam around and pick any campsite. We booked site #1 but I believe we wound up around site #7! The outdoor shower was very nice and the string/fairy lights, that are scattered around the area, are also a plus. We will definitely be back!

This trip was a dream!

I loved this campground! I will definitely seek it out again next time I need a getaway. I originally booked site 1, but when Lily offered to let me choose another site when I arrived, I chose site 7. It was the perfect vibe for my trip - shaded and secluded, tucked into a nook and right up against the creek in a way that felt very accessible. Lily was super attentive and communicated promptly, she’s great! I felt safe as a solo camper just looking for a place to be close to nature and content to Be in the quiet. Leo the groundskeeper was friendly and thoughtfully checked in with me to make sure I had all I needed, without it feeling intrusive and immediately leaving me with the feeling of being safe.
