Robinson Mine Basecamp

Like the title states it was a very nice experience. Right off the bat Thomas, Deborah and Aaron were very responsive on how to arrive to the site. All were very friendly and helpful. Plus the campsite is only about 40mins from Yosemite and other hiking trails which is so nice. There is also a local brewery and eateries that are must try’s. Definitely had a great experience and will recommend to friends and family.

The convenience to Yosemite couldn't be beat for the price. We appreciated the cute touches of camp lights and the wash station at the bathroom; the view of the stars was amazing and the space was quiet. Finding a flat spot was tough, but we made do and would come back again - excited to hear about the plans the hosts have for more leveling and appreciated the warm welcome!

Perfectly situated just 30 minutes from the Yosemite National Park...we were able to cook, rest, and hear/see lots of wildlife all while having some privacy at our camp spot. We loved it here & the hosts are just the sweetest and most helpful folks. 💜

I camped here on a visit to Yosemite and had a great time! Thomas and Deborah were very helpful and easy to communicate with so the space was easy to find. They also gave suggestions for places to checkout nearby that I can’t recommend enough: Priest Station for amazing food (went for lunch) and Rainbow Pool for a beautiful and refreshing swim! Also, for people who want to do Tesla camping, there is a supercharger just a few minutes away!

Had a great time camping here. It was such a great experience. The host had a great suggestion to go to the pools during mid-afternoon to avoid the heat. We used this as a go between and spend the second day mostly in Yosemite coming back to camp for rest making smooth transition back to the road back home.

Cool area. Far enough out of the way to feel quiet, yet close enough to town to not feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere. Deborah, Thomas, and Aaron were great hosts, very friendly.

We had a great one night stay! Debbie was a wonderful communicator both before and during our arrival. We had a good amount of space for our car and tent. The bathroom was clean and well stocked. Great views of the stars at night. The town of Groveland is a few minutes away, and we were able to get to Hetch Hetchy bright and early the next morning for some hiking. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting Yosemite and nearby areas!

The land owners are great people who know the area super well. They gave us good swimming spots and towns to stop by and hiking trails to go on. You might see wild turkeys roaming around and it’s by some farms so you can drive a minute if you want to stop by and see cows and horses. Overall it’s a great place to set up a tent or hold a party with friends.

Thomas and Deborah are the sweetest hosts ever! They are super attentive and generous and made our group feel so welcome. They are proud of their land and eager to share it with you! I was warmly greeted by all and was pleased to find the location to be the perfect spot for myself and 3 other fellow backpackers. Tom and Deborah are super helpful and friendly — they are quick to share their knowledge of the area along with tips and insights. For anyone unfamiliar with the county they would be pleased stay here. The camp is very close to Groveland making it simple to find dining, drink and supplies. Tidy and well put together... I highly recommend!

I loved camping on this site even if our trip was cut short! Deborah and Aaron were super nice and gave us some great spots to cool off from the heat. Our dogs loved the area as well with the long leashes they were able to roam around a little more than what they are use to! Highly recommend this area!

We loved our stay on the property. Great place to pitch a tent, listen to the sounds of nature & stargaze. The hosts were also more than accommodating. So friendly & had tons of tips on things to do in the area. Would definitely stay here again next time I'm heading to Yosemite

Site 3 Lucky Prospector

The host was very friendly and we were able to check in after sunset, which was ideal. The proximity to Yosemite was great. However, our campsite was quite small (mostly alleviated by being able to expand into 2 sites since there was a cancellation) and within 100m of a few other groups, including one very loud group that also got up at 4am. We were situated next to the bathroom, which ended up meaning right next to the port-a-potty. Additionally, the site was listed as having trash bins available, but there were signs to not put trash into the bin unless it was used in the bathroom, which was inconvenient.

Adorable, Not too far from Yosemite

Affordable and fairly close to Yosemite. Slightly more than an hour to Tunnel View. It was quiet and private, unlike the campgrounds we saw inside Yosemite which were stuffed and crowded. The hosts were very kind and greeted us no matter what time we checked in. Make sure to bring bug spray at the campsite and in Yosemite.

Peaceful and Convenient

Tom and Deborahs land is beautiful, we fell asleep to crickets and frogs both nights, and could see so many stars. We are pretty introverted so we appreciated the slight selection of the site we were at, (2) and that it was very quiet, no traffic or music or anything like that, just birds, kids playing and occasional barking from their very sweet dogs, that, to me, sounds like a home ☺️ We went all over, from Yosemite to Columbia to Sonora, and appreciated that our site was very centrally located to all of that. Only about an hour to Yosemite or Sonora so we had our pick. I would also recommend Priest Station for breakfast, such a beautiful view of the rolling hills, great food and only about 5 minutes from camp. Oh! Also I've got to say I was impressed with the Porta-Potty! You can see how often they get it serviced, very clean, and when we ran out of paper towels at the little wash station, they were restocked without even having to ask. We very much enjoyed our trip and highly recommend this spot. 🥰

Yosemite Base Camp Rocks

I highly recommend the Yosemite Base Camp; the place to stay while visiting Yosemite National Forest., Tom and Debbie go out of their way to make sure everyone who stays at their Campground is taken care of. The community campfire is a great place for all to hang out, family and dog-friendly. We had a very nice time and looking forward to going back to the Yosemite Base Camp in the future. Great stay at this camp! Tom and Debbie were so kind and full of great recommendations for local spots to check out. The camp was only 35min from the Big Oak Flat entrance to Yosemite and also conveniently close to stores/food in Groveland. Really appreciated the hand-washing station next to the porta potty too. Heads up, if you have a larger tent like I did (8x8ft), site 1 is a bit unlevel and better for smaller tents, but there are a couple other sites to choose from. Overall, great campsite and hope to come back soon!

The site was easy to find and the hosts were extremely helpful in helping us find our way. The location was also great, only about 30 minutes from Yosemite. I would 100% recommend this campsite

My grandson and I had a wonderful time. Tom and Debby were exceptionally hospitable. And dog friend Annie as well. It’s a memorable site — on top of a Gold Rush-era gold mine. Tom was very generous about sharing his time and knowledge of the site and its geology. The sites are as described, level and well-cleared and they (Tom and Debby) are improving them over time. Amenities are as described. We had everything we needed and appreciated the solar-powered outdoor lighting. Bird life is off the hook, especially the wild turkeys. It’s secluded and pastoral though very close to Groveland. NB, if Tom and Debby warn you about bug season, take heed.

Nice site but maybe check progress?

The sites were nice and spacious and the host was very friendly. The porta potty was totally fine and as expected, and there were lots of solar lights around and in the trees which was nice too. There was a cool "wildlife trail" at the top of the hill. Would have been pretty magical except... ...there was a huge amount of junk surrounding the hosts' trailer. It was kind of shocking and somewhat spoiled the natural scene. I mean, you don't HAVE to look that direction, but its right there when you go down to the porta. Honestly, when I pulled in I thought it had to be a mistake. I know they are in transition of building the place up, so I would cut them some slack and hope its cleaned up soon.
