Absolutely great time at strange ranch! The property itself feels very private and relaxing with beautiful views and a great river to swim and explore. All the campsites we saw were very clean and well maintained. Terry does an amazing job communicating and really provided a lot of great information before we even arrived. We stayed at site #1 right above the river. You can expect great views, a picnic table, metal fire pit, wash basin with faucet, hose, portable toilet, and a short walk down the stairs to the river. Terry told us before arriving how sunny our site would be so we brought a 10x10 pop up canopy and we were good to go!

Everything was exactly how it was described. The 2 ways in/out were a bit steep, so I was surprised by that, but Brian was very helpful making sure I was able to pull out, which I was with no issue. Brian was very responsive! The water was clean and cold, the porta potty would be better placed somewhere in the shade though, but it was clean. He and his daughter were very enjoyable to talk to, they even gave us a small tour on the side by side, and we had an enjoyable evening on Saturday sitting around a small campfire making smores. He has a lot of plans for the place and I can not wait to return!

2 nights at RockNWater Cove Camping

Kris's HipCamp is a great spot. She checked in with us on day one to ensure we had everything we needed. The site was clean. It was mostly shaded from the oak trees and has a beautiful view to rolling hills, oaks and wildlife. It was a short and peaceful walk to the river. The bathrooms were clean. The downsides for us would be that the Larry and Curley sites are very close to each other. We would only reserve it again if we were traveling with another family who could reserve the neighboring site - and in that case it would be a bonus because we could all be together. I would recommend the Moe site if possible because it's in a more private location just up the road. The other possible downside is the available beach is fairly small and just one small section of the river is accessible for swimming and water play. It was great for us because no one else was there when we were, but I can't imagine trying to share the small area with more campers.

4 nights at Cosumnes River Ranch

Wow! Remote and beautiful. Extremely well maintained with the cleanest port a potties ever. What an enjoyable and relaxing experience falling asleep to the sound of the river. The sites are big and pretty distanced from each other there is cell service clearly marked a short distance away. Loved it!

1 night at Shared Abundance Organic Farm

Ruthanne was able to confirm a last minute site for my daughter and I for a quick staycation overnight. We purchased the organic produce bag and it was custom picked the next morning along with some amazing facts about her farm and how she started and grew it over 20+ yrs. Very friendly dogs and my daughter enjoyed playing fetch with them. The sites we're fairly close but the two other campers were very quiet so we had no issues and the property was spacious and we were allowed to and browse up the hill to the orchard and look around at the different fruit and veggies growing. The sites have plenty of mixed sun and shade but beforewarned that with Verizon cellular or hotspot you pretty much won't get much of a signal. It was lucky to get one bar here and there just to send a quick text or two. Plan to be off-grid and download a movie/show if you need to for night. We will be back!

Brian was so helpful and nice really made my family and I comfortable to stay there. We got there late and he was really helpful to show us the spots we could choose from. The kids loved the lights on the trees and looking for wood for the fire and it was plenty to keep it going till we left. Can’t wait to go again.

1 night at Camp Run Amuck Hollow

Pretty spot by a gorgeous creek, right off the road, some road noise, but convenience and features made it a great spot for kids. Creek was deep enough to be swimmable in spots, not too many bugs, tons of sweet frog sounds at night. Playground and swing on site, big communal campfire ring that Mike stocked with wood for a bonfire at night. Not sure if that was a regular event, or because occupancy was high over Memorial Day. No picnic tables at sites, can build your own fire ring at your site, but no preset fire pits (at least not at ours). Get there early to pick the best spot, more privacy farther back on the property. Spots are first come first served, but are all right by the creek. Mike was great and had some neat native artifacts that have been found on the property he was happy to tell us about.

This private lake supports the fire protection efforts of the Mosquito Fire Protection District and the firefighters of this community. Community volunteers manage the lake for the residents and the Fire Station. The primary funding source for the Finnon Lake Restoration is the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, which was signed into law in 2004 with a mission to support “efforts that improve the environmental, economic and social well-being of the Sierra Nevada Region, its communities and the residents of California,” according to its Website. We feel certain you will not be disappointed with our beautiful river canyon. Our property is situated right on the middle fork cosumnes river. We have 2 sleeping cabins and several tent sites (can be rented separately). The cabins offer a rustic/minimalist type vibe - bring your own bedding/pillows to sleep on the comfy futon. A table and chairs are provided for the cabins. Tent sites each have a wood table (bring your camp chairs) and a fire pit when the season is open for burning. The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe! In the area there are many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting! It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the cabins (litererally 200' away!). It is still as beautiful as ever but please know there are lots of slash piles. Falling trees and burned up stump holes are also a risk and it is presumed campers will be cautious and use at their own risk. We ask campers to use our property only for land use and river access, NO up or down river access is permitted AT ALL. Please don't hesitate to shoot us a message if you have any questions!

Camp Nauvoo was originally bought by the LDS church in the 1960's for a girl's camp. The camp was owned by the Boy Scouts from 2011-2015. The Rose family bought the property in 2016 with the intent to continue the tradition of tent camping as well as creating opportunities for exclusive events i.e., group/family reunions, weddings and corporate events. We are a small privately owned small campground (20 sites only) located on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, canvas tents on platforms, teepees and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home. We are tent camping only with only one site that allows a small travel trailer or van. (#14) . We are dog friendly and allow dogs in all but 5 glamping sites. We do enforce camp rules especially our quiet time between 10 PM and 7 AM (please review). We’ve been told that we have a “family camp” vibe. We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together with multiple families. We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day. We have a lodge that is stocked with games and a ping pong table. The lodge has a microwave, Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups).We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection. We have electricity at the at the lodge for small appliances and charging phones. We have a compressor on site to blow up your air mattresses or float toys. We’ve been told that our bathrooms are the “cleanest” ever and have changing tables and diaper pails. We offer nice flushing toilets and hot showers! We have many extra amenities including a compressor to use for your air mattresses, For outdoor activities we have basketball, volleyball, pickleball and cornhole not to mention the playground with swing sets, seesaw and tractor play. We have hiking trails throughout the property. Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores (bring the fixings). The creek starts out in spring looking like a rushing river featuring many fishing and swimming holes. As the summer progresses the water level falls but is still great for water play and fishing. We have propane BBQs (we provide the propane for BBQs) located throughout the property. We also have a propane grill and charcoal BBQ located in the common area for all to use. There is a dutch oven pit also in the fire bowl area. We do not allow wood fires at the individual sites but each site has a propane firepit for ambiance (not cooking) that requires you to purchase a 20 lb. propane cannister on site (add in extras) or pay cash on site. No internet service. There is limited internet only available for purchases at the setore. We require a 3 night minimum for the major holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. We do not do checkins on Sunday but do allow camping over Sunday night. We do exclusive events so you may need to explore multiple weekends to find the right reservation. We are located in the foothills so we are a short hop to many local attractions that include river rafting, gold mines, wineries and historical towns with great eating establishments. Tahoe is less than an hour away and there a many hiking trails within 20-30 minutes. We have a limited number of items to rent i.e, tents, cots, camp stoves, etc. We rent a battery pack for those that use a cpap. We also have a small store on site for those items you forgot and a good selection of ice cream and ice. We take venmo or cash. CHECKIN IS BETWEEN 4 AND 8. We have a trampoline, a tree house, a large livestock water trough that we use as a kiddie pool in summer, a great swing set, and room to play. We live on a quiet 10 acre property with trees that provide some shade, and all of our sites are near the horse pastures. You might hear horses nickering and chickens clucking. There is lots of room to walk or run around. A Treehouse is available for kids to play in, a trampoline to jump on, plus we have a 17 foot high swing for kids and adults alike! You can walk the property to observe the horses, or sign up for a special horse, tractor, or welding experience. Come camp in a very quiet and safe horse and farming area. We are near the end of a dead-end road. Our camping sites are somewhat private, some with more shade and others with more mid-day sun. We specialize in "Horse Experiences" tailored to your level of comfort and needs. None of the horse experiences listed on our site require any prior experience with horses. We will make sure you are safe and comfortable while working with the horses. *NOTE: Experiences are not available on Sundays (our sabbath day). We can fit them in on Saturday afternoon/evening for Saturday-night campers, or Monday morning for Sunday-night campers. We have a private bathroom with flush toilet and sink. Summertime brings hot days and (usually) cool nights to our area. It is not uncommon to experience 100 degree days in June, July and August. Most evenings cool down, thanks to the Delta Breeze, to around 60-70 degrees overnight. Wintertime brings cooler daytime temps (50-60 degrees) and colder night temps (30-40 degrees). We are located about 10 minutes from the Galt area, which has a large variety of Fast-food, as well as several nicer restaurants. There is also a Wal-Mart (with groceries) and a nice Supermarket. We are about 6 miles from 2 country stores in Herald and Wilton (with gas station). Sites accommodate up to 6 people, and you can add up to 2 more for an additional fee. If you need more than 8 people, then consider booking 2 or more sites. With horses and the activities we do with them, dogs are not allowed.
