Weekend Trip to BaseCampByBo!

Such an awesome place Jarret has! Perfect location, not too far from the park and spots in Groveland. He was a great host and was really understanding of my reactive pup I brought with me. The spot on the hill was so peaceful. So much better than being cramped with a bunch of campers at a campground. Definitely would come back.

3 nights at Red Tail Ranch at Yosemite

My family and two dogs had a wonderful time at Red Tail Ranch! The spot was secluded and peaceful and we loved that we had full hook ups. The outside bathrooms and showers were a pleasant surprise, so clean! We will definitely be back when visiting the area!

Weekend Trip to Red Tail Ranch at Yosemite

Red Tail Ranch is by far my favorite Hipcamp experience, and I wish we’d found it sooner! It’s especially great for groups with a mix of vans, tents and/or more luxurious travel preferences (e.g. in the separate B&B accommodations). Our friends are getting married on site and this was the perfect way for us to clean up after a long road trip to greet them in proper fashion.

3 nights at The Painted Lake

We loved camping at the Painted Lakes! Jeremy and Michelle were great communicating before and during our stay making sure we had the best time on their property. The site has lots of space for setting up camp and relaxing among the trees and animals. Loved walking to the lake and kayaking. It is a quiet piece of paradise. Great setup with a gas grill, gas fire pit, and an outdoor couch on turf.

4 nights at Red Tail Ranch at Yosemite

What a wonderful space to go explore one of the world’s greatest national parks. The location is about a hour from the Yosemite Valley. Full hook ups were exceptional. Perfect location for star gazers. Host was exceptional and very responsive.

3 nights at Diamond Gulch

Lovely camp ground and well maintained! Privacy was nice as well. Falling asleep to cows mooing surprisingly is better than a lullaby.

2 nights at Red Tail Ranch at Yosemite

This is a beautiful location. We used it as a home base for visiting Yosemite. Nice bathrooms and outdoor showers. Lots of water available and nice food prep area. It would be a great place for a family reunion.

1 night at The Ranch at Cross Road

As advertised. Enjoyed my night- they had everything need to grill. Outdoor Shower was nice- the bathroom sink was at a drip at best. However, lots of other places to wash hands as needed.

3 nights at Diamond Gulch

John is a great host, checked in on us daily. There's firewood available, which is great. Not really assigned spaces, so you can pick a spot that suits your needs. Garbage cans, recycling, water and showers were all nearby. It's important to keep the gates shut so the cows don't come into the campsite. We had a great view of the moon & stars and being right in Groveland got us into Yosemite easily. Just to mention CA 120 is quite a curvy road with a large incline. We would definitely stay with John again.

Lovely campsite with amazing views, directions were clear and well sign posted. Showers were nice and hot and site was well maintained, would definitely recommend if in the Yosemite area

2 nights at Rocksteady Adventures

Site 24 was extremely fun to stay at with it being so close to the water as well as very peaceful at night, it was extremely easy and convenient to set my reservation and I would definitely reccomend the campsite to any frequent camper.

1 night at The Ranch at Cross Road

Loved this campsite, super easy to get to and in a lovely location, we stopped on a passing visit but would have happily stayed for a few more days. Great facilities, would highly recommend.

1 night at LDMA Italian Bar

Feeling off seclusion and history but with camp support and such friendly and hospitable hosts, Emily and Blaine. Falling asleep with the roar of the river was magical. Easy fire roads to walk, especially with dog. And some mining trails along river. Great spot for kids to run around and bike. 3.5 miles of gravel road so awd recommended and add 15 mins to whatever the navigation tells you. And you probably don’t want to do the drive more than once a day, so plan ahead. I can’t wait to go back. Dog friendly too

Weekend Trip to Diamond Gulch

Thanks to Jon for sharing his beautiful place with campers. It’s perfect for people planning on visiting Yosemite. Very near to the charming Groveland town with municipal park, restaurants and grocery store, well stocked with all things required. Loads of free firewood was provided. We made great memories here and will come back again! Full 5G connection on T-mobile and Verizon.

Weekend Trip to Red Tail Ranch at Yosemite

We had some major adventures here at Red Tail Ranch in the RV spaces #1 and #2 (which to my knowledge may be the only "RV" zoned spaces at the time of this review. My wife and I were in #1 with our 35' Brinkley Model i 294 Travel Trailer for your reference. There was ample room for our truck as well as additional front patio space which overlooked a nice meadow. My friend was in #2 with his 25' Jayco SLX. There are sewer hook ups in site #1 only, though both #1 and #2 both have electrical and water. The water was great and the electrical hook ups did not have any issues while we were there. I used my 50 Amp Service and my friend who was in #2 used his 30 Amp and both were great. Both sites are back in and #2 is much easier to back into if you are not super skilled in backing in. We met Robb who is one of the owners here. He was so nice and friendly! We had a failure of one of our brakes while we were there. Robb was so accommodating in our time of need. He allowed us to stay in one site an additional day and though he had someone coming in the next day he found some additional space we could move to (without hook ups) in case the mechanic couldn't get us moving before check in time! What a super great person! We will be back again when we come to Yosemite next time. Super easy in and out and close to the gate to Yosemite!

Weekend Trip to Red Tail Ranch at Yosemite

This place is wonderful and site #1 is the best. We had a TT 35' 11.5' tall that we were able to fit into here. Our camp side was looking out to a peaceful view of just a field that would have no other campers. At one point we had a deer come traveling through the field towards us and then diverted but only after getting about 20 yards from us, just simply magical. The hook ups all worked wonderfully. I love how there are two hose hook ups so I did need a splitter! Water was fresh, I have a three stage filter, though tbh I dont believe that was necessary. Robb is a gracious host who took the time to greet everyone and make sure we were all comfortable and without wants. We will be back on our next trip back to Yosemite! Its close enough to enjoy the park without having the RV packed on top of eachother feel. Enjoy!

For this reason, we ask all campers to be mindful about storing food and disposing of trash in the provided bins. The ranch is comprised of the camping lawns, camping facilities, several homes on the property (two Air BnB and the owner's home) and the motorcycle workshop. Car and RV campers are welcomed and there is plenty of car/RV parking on the asphalt lot outside the fence at the East Side of the property near the mailboxes at the intersection of Rte 4 and Brice Station Road.

There are a few different listings, so make sure to read the details on your specific listing! -The Terrace -End of The Driveway -1 Pine -2 Pine The End of The Driveway is one big site for buses/RVs/big vans next to the Soup Kitchen. 1 Pine and 2 Pine are up a separate driveway on the ridge. Then there’s the bus and camper, which are located in the main part of our property when you pull into the driveway. This is also where the camp host can usually be found. The 1st area to park/camp is the “Soup Kitchen” near the flower garden where you can enjoy an outdoor shower, kitchen space and established fire pit (see pics of the Soup Kitchen). This area is down the driveway a couple hundred yards from where we usually are so you’ll more or less be on your own, depending on if we have work to do down there or if there are other campers. We are happy to chat or leave you be, just let us know what your needs are. If you’re looking for a more isolated spot, see the listings for 1 Pine or 2 Pine. The 2nd area is “1 Pine” accessed by our second driveway that is 100 yards down the road from the farm. The driveway is kind of rough but definitely manageable with a truck, SUV or sedan if you’re willing to go for it. The drive goes up a couple hundred yards to the hilltop where there is a clearing and, you guessed it, 1 pine tree. From the back of the clearing there is a trail that leads you to 2 Pine, which is a walk that takes just a few minutes. 2 Pine is walk-in only but has great views of the sunset and is totally secluded and private and would be a good spot to either bring some friends for a little sunset party or for someone who wants to seriously unplug. There are plenty of flat spots to pitch a tent. **if you are a teacher or Pacific Crest Trail hiker let us know! We are happy to offer a discount :)

Modesto sits between San Francisco and Yosemite National Park, with access to highways leading in all directions and endless California adventures. Part of the Central Valley agricultural area, the city sits on the Tuolumne River as it flows down from Yosemite to its confluence with the San Joaquin River west of town. East and north of the city, Modesto Reservoir Regional Park and Woodward Reservoir Regional Park are favorite spots for swimming, fishing, water-skiing, and jet-skiing and have RV hookups and boat launches. RV parks and resorts can be found west of the city near the San Joaquin River National Wildlife Refuge, as well as on the way to Yosemite along Highway 120.
