It is very dark at night and the view of the stars, moon, and planets is amazing. There is poison oak on the property so please be aware. The L3 Ranch was founded in 1974 when my grandfather bought the property for his show cows. In 1978, someone gave him a racehorse to pay off a debt. From then on, the property was known for its Quarter horse race horses, with some of the best in the state being born right here. In 2013 he found our he had cancer and handed the ranch down to me, Travis. We are here in Gilroy Ca, on a rural 2 acres just outside of town, further up our road is Coyote Lake to go boating and fishing and Harvey Bear park to go hiking and horse riding. Santa Cruz is a 45 min drive West over hwy 152 and San Jose is 30 min North on 101 and keep going a bit more and you will be in San Francisco.
Here at home we raise several different kinds of lives stock. Goats for meat and milk, Sheep for meat and wool and eventually milk, Pigs for meat, Rabbits for meat and hide, Chickens, Ducks and Quail for meat and eggs. We have a garden and small orchard with nearly a dozen fruit trees of different kinds : loquat, a few apples, plums, apricot, peach, fig, persimmons and my favorite the pomegranate! We process everything ourselves using ancestral techniques and love to share and learn with others.
Id say the main draw back here is the traffic noise but beyond that, We are quite lucky to have very a green and Id say an oasis of a property, with multiple large palms trees surrounding the pool area and a large weeping willow tree in the main yard/sheep pasture. At the NE corner of the property is a very large oak tree, it is majestic and with the tipi door open to the East the big oak is the first thing you'll see every morning besides the suns rays!
The entire Northern property line is rowed with 60ft tall redwood trees and there are a smattering of citrus trees around to boot!
The freezer is stocked with in house meat, the BBQ is hot, the pool is cool, come relax after a day on the trails!

Great hosts. They met us for a quick orientation and even had a box of supplies for us. Not sure if everyone gets that or it was for us since we were the only ones there, but it was very nice and thoughtful. Site 1 and two are next to each other but spaced to keep as separate as possible. The surroundings make the three sites feel like you are in the woods - even though when we thought about it, we are in the "front yard.". It's 100 yards from the road or anything else. The shower is up a hill and a nice addition. Nothing fancy, but clearly thought out and it works (warm water too). The ground on site 1 is close to flat, but not entirely. The benches, camp fire space, and grill are a nice addition and at every site. We went on a rainy weekend and I would return and recommend. It was one of the nicer basic places I have stayed. Barry’s land was wonderful. It was clean, we loved going on the hay ride to experience the cows, bull Napoleon and the many goats they have. Feeding them and able to spend time with the animals was great. My family and I had a wonderful time and make precious memories. We have already talked about returning.

I really don’t want to write this review because it is just going to make Cole Ranch even more popular! But how could I not. Barry and Chrissy work so hard- this place is clearly a labor of love! It is so relaxing - being right on the river is about as good as it gets! And everything you need is right there for the taking. Water toys? ✔️ Firewood? ✔️ ice? ✔️ Bathrooms are so clean and cheerful. Not perfect but it’s camping folks!

Absolutely exceeded all expectations! Our family lover every part of Travis’s space. The BBBQ, Refrigerator, outlets, and bathrooms made it so nice. It’s on a ranch so all the animals and wildlife were so amazing as well. Frogs and wild turkeys filled the air with beautiful sounds. Fishing was great! Everyone caught fish.

There are very few, if any, places to stay on the west entrance of The Pinnacles and driving to the east gate where the campground is located takes about an hour. A stay in this vineyard is a perfect t solution and would be a top pick even if there were several options. We left the trails and were at our site within 10 minutes just in time to watch the sun set over the mountains. Choose sites 1&2 for sunrise over the vineyards or 3&4 for sunset over the hills. Enjoy!

What a special, beautiful place. The blue oaks and ground squirrels and bunnies were the cherry on top for this amazing adventure.
Veronica, our host, was so informative and welcoming and shared all kinds of awesome facts and history about the land she humbly stewards. Wildfarmers is a pretty cool nonprofit that is really honoring the land and restoring it to its natural splendor! We loved our daily check ins with Veronica and really hope to come back and see her one day.
Getting to the spot was simple enough if you really read the instructions they send you. It did seem at times like a, “where even are we?!”, moment— but that just added to the adventure.
I’d say probably closer to an hour to get to the park, but honestly we enjoyed our time at the campsite more than the park. 😅 zero service and limited amenities. Make sure you have wood, ice and gas/fuel before heading out on Little Panoche.
Site 4 Ravens is closest to amenities and at first it seems a little unexpected because there’s a kind of “junkyard vibe” to the area where the bathroom and shower are. But honestly, bathroom was clean and well kept and the “junk” added to the charm of the place.
You’ll fall in love with the calm here, the stunning stars and little bunnies & ground squirrels. 100% recommend.

Nancy is top notch. Super friendly and responsive. The ranch is a bit on the worn out side. The hot water tank wasn't working when we were there, and the fridge could use a deep cleaning. However, our dogs had the time of their lives. The horse (Hannah) and donkey (Daisy) are amazing. I absolutely loved the blooming jasmine growing over the building. We had a very relaxing weekend and plan to return.

The camp site is truly glorious--very pretty. The outhouses were lovely, and many fun features (nice chairs, and firewood, and TIKI torches! and Citronella candles! All very lovely--but mostly--camping under the trees was really lovely.

I had a great time at the Ravens campsite. Camping description on all sites are accurate and all have reasonable amounts of shade to camp under. I didn’t explore the immediate area too much, but there is plenty of space to stretch out the legs.
One thing to note, *if* there are other camping in the neighboring sites, they will need to pass through Site 4 (Ravens) to use the bathroom or get water.
It does get lively at night with all the local wildlife making themselves heard. Expect to see near the campsites: ground squirrels, rabbits, birds, various insects, and the occasional toad.
As other reviews mention, Veronica is very knowledgeable, welcoming, approachable, accommodating, great company… need I say more? If you have the time, make the effort to speak with Veronica and learn more about the conservation efforts done to maintain the surrounding area.
**Pinnacles National Park tips:
-Go early.
-BRING A FLASHLIGHT (phone flashlight ok).
-Don’t underestimate the difficult trails.
-Beware of Rattlesnakes at the park. (I heard one on a trail around sunset.)
Easy recommendation! Would return to Song of the Ancients to camp here again!

My wife, her cousin and our two dogs enjoyed Cole Ranch as a beautiful river side camp ground with nice grassy area to kick back for four nights under unseasonally warm spring weather. Barry and is wife were very welcoming and helpful as all the water toys to enjoy the river were at your disposal along with fishing gear and a nice bbq area by the river to enjoy large gathering if you were so inclined to have a family or friend gathering.

Beautiful property. Very well equipped with communal outdoor kitchen area. Spotless bathrooms. You can certainly tell that Barry and Chrissy take great pride in what they have created. Serene camping in a blue oak preserve. This is a great alternative to the crowds at the Pinnacles campground. It's a bit of a bumpy drive getting out there, but well worth it if you're looking for peace and quiet, a friendly host, beautiful scenery and a campfire under a sky full of stars.
