There were many beautiful hands put their energies into each cobbin here and we built it with Love, charities and your comfort in mind! We made our decision based on our love to create an inspiration for arts and creating beautiful buildings using materials that you can find around you such as pallets, clay, sands, straws, etc. Everything is made out of non toxic materials, we even made our own paint out of cooking flours! Or come to the communal fire near the bathhouse for sharing some time with family and the few other campers that may be there. Bringing your own wood is welcome. The coastal bike and hike trails are many. From South of Ft Bragg to the Sand Dunes near Ward Ave. you can travel over 7 miles one way and go down to quiet little beach coves along the way. Meadow Farm is a nonprofit 501c3 with goals of coastal food security, disaster preparation and sheltering, carbon sequestering and forest restoration. We offer native plant tours on or off site with advance notice. We like our dog companions! Two McNab collies, Moxie and Shama live here and may bark at first...still very friendly and social with people and other dogs.. There are several dog friendly off-leash areas such as, Noyo North Harbor Beach, Seaside Beach and dog parks in both Ft Bragg and Mendocino. Our farm is dog friendly tho we wish pets to be kept close, must be neutered and friendly to other dogs and people. Please be sure to bury or bag the waste. Speaking of waste, Meadow Farm strives to reduce waste by avoiding plastic as much as possible, recycling what we can and composting our veggie scraps. Please bring your own waste receptacles and take them along when you go. We take ours to the Caspar Transfer Station which is open Saturday through Wednesday... the location and hours can be found online. Our water is from a deep well and we periodically test it for bacteria. It is cold and delicious. Our irrigation pipes that have spigots and hoses at each camp are safe for drinking, cooking and cleaning Our solar pump moves water into storage tanks that provide all the water to the farm. It is very important that the water valves on your camp spigot is turned off (gently please) to avoid losing 2500 gallons of water in a short time. If you see a leak or break in a line please contact us immediately. There are also water shut offs for the camps on the west side of the Farm House if you are unable to reach us right away.. When doing dishes we request that you use the strainer to catch food particles from the dish water and toss them in your trash or compost bucket. If you have vegetable waste let us know and we can pick them up for adding to the worm bins or composting piles. We make worm "tea" fertilizer and rich soil from these offerings. No animal products or oil please... a few egg shells are okay. We do have the usual wildlife though we haven't had problems with them. Ravens will raid your camp if food or bags are left out while you are away. From dusk to dawn keep children and pets close. We coexist well here with the critters...and glad to have them. Excellent Group Site! We only host one group at a time so you can be with your family and friends in a large, flat and private space. Choose between the campground, the cabin, or both! You can add the cabin to your campground stay under "extras'! The land was originally purchased in the 1980's. Since then, it has been used by four generations of the family as a place to gather, relax, camp and even celebrate. I had my wedding on the property in 2010. For a few years we held an annual music festival with the very inventive name of Samapalooza. Up to 400 people would attend the day filled with live music, food and drinks. You will still find the stage and bar we built as an outdoor kitchen and dining area. Around 2008, my father and I planted our first olive trees. Many have been planted since which has gifted the land the timeless sense of purpose it deserves. My father dedicated his last years to tending the young trees and now I have taken the mantle to carry the farm forward. 'The Property', as it is known amongst family and friends has always been a place to camp. I have sat around the same fire ring for decades, rain or shine. I hope that fellow hipcampers can find the joy that my family and I have experienced here. This is a very private camp on a small olive farm. Geographically close to highways and the town of Novato, Sonoma and Napa wine country, this camp feels remote and secluded. Only one camp on the property to keep it private and special. You basically have your run of the land. We have just updated the land and made some nice improvements. Located on ten acres, you will drive past a small olive grove before reaching the spacious and open campground. Just up the hill from the camp is a private pond where you can fish, take out a small boat or just sit and watch the birds. It can be great swimming on hot summer days. This spot has been used by the family for decades and is now open to share with fellow nature lovers. Just a note: While the majority of the time you can expect complete privacy, this is a working olive farm. From time to time you may run into me (Sam) or someone else associated with the land. We will always do our best to respect your space.

We loved Heartwood and would stay there again in a heartbeat. The cabins are comfortable and perfect for when you don't want to bother with a tent. The entire place was thoughtfully created making our stay easy. The outdoor seating, kitchen, and shower were clean and adorned with special touches of art. The on-site bathrooms and showers were always clean and available. Meeting the owners and their pup Lola was an added bonus.

Weekend Trip to Meadow Farm & Forest

Cute and tranquil getaway! We stayed at the Cozy Cabin and it matched our expectations from the reviews and descriptions - small (but not tight), clean and tidy, and quiet. Easy access to the flush toilet and shower in the community house (less than a minute walk away). Facilities were clean. No biting bugs. If you do need absolute darkness to sleep, be sure to bring a sleep mask - the curtains are sheer. Really neat to learn about Meadow farm from the bits of info throughout the property. Sojourna stopped by to say hi — she was very responsive over message (esp because we were rolling in late and was concerned about finding the cabin in the dark) and lovely to meet in person.

Wonderful stay, my fiancé and I spent the weekend at the farm for our anniversary and everything was perfect. Jacob is an amazing host, very kind and easy to talk to. We had a blast using the oven!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay! The drive up to the location is beautiful and secluded. You are at the top of a hill, so the panoramic view is stunning. We stayed in a cabana, and it was small but did the job. Your view is breathtaking as you're tucked in the woods without other guests in sight. I will say it felt odd to be exposed at night, with large windows without curtains, but that is the magic of the place. The cabana does get hot since it's largely made of big windows, so if you're not a fan of heat, a callout. The hosts were welcoming and gave us a tour of the grounds.

Weekend Trip to Heartwood Mendocino

I absolutely loved staying here. If you live in a busy city and you want absolute quiet where you can't even hear a bird chirp this is the place for you. Our cabin was immaculate and the bed was very comfortable. It was a little strange that we couldn't lock the door when we left, but at least you can lock the inside deadbolt when you are there. I would absolutely stay here again. Everything about it was very well thought out and planned meticulously. I didn't have any cell service, which is okay when you're trying to get away from all the noise in the world, but if you want to look up places to go eat or things to do plan that out before you get there. As well as offline maps.

Weekend Trip to The Hobbit Hideout

Excellent stay in Watsonville. Close to Santa Cruz and lots of fun stuff. Very peaceful and private. Bathrooms were cleanest I have seen and very well organized. I will come back again.

1 night at Meadow camping in Bolinas

This site has a restorative rustic romance to it that was perfect for myself and my young child. We had everything we needed and deeply enjoyed the whimsy and beauty of this well maintained and cared for site. BBF was a perfect landing place for us with a lot of magic for children including sheep, chickens, and enclosed safe areas that kept a wild feeling but were close enough to camp that I was not fearful of him getting hurt or lost - so it allowed me to rest more as a parent. The farm is beautiful and obviously cared for with a lot of delicate love and respect for the land.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Sky View Cabana for a 3 night girl’s trip. The land is beautiful, with unbelievable views and a peaceful atmosphere. Both Vanessa and Ludo were warm, gracious hosts who were very responsive whenever we had a question. Both Santa Cruz and Monterey are easy day trips from this location, and it’s also incredibly grounding and relaxing so you may not want to leave! The king sized loft bed was very comfortable. Perhaps the only feedback is maybe to add a screen on the small window above the bed because that is the only airflow into the space and is nice to leave open overnight.

2 nights at Pickle Barrel Cabin and Camp

The pickle barrel cabin was so charming, the compost toilet had no smell, and the wooded lot was lovely. We enjoyed having a campfire in the fire pit. Don’t forget to bring bug spray or a mosquito candle as the mosquitoes were pretty intense at dusk during July. During the day, and after the sun went down and sitting near the campfire they were fine. There is a shooting range nearby where there were people shooting starting pretty early like maybe 8-8:30 am. Luckily we’re early risers, but still it was not the most tranquil. Also, please note it is a 15 minute drive from the river, ocean beaches and town so you might want to take that in to account in your planning of your days.

Weekend Trip to Baby Banana Slug Farm

The cabin was perfect for the night and really cozy. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of blankets and also a heater. Nathan had excellent communication before our arrival and even invited us to a cookout he was having earlier in the day. I would definitely stay again.
