Explore on-site nature trails, a native plant nursery, and beautiful woodlands, or simply relax beneath the stars.
A few important things to note:
Due to the close proximity of neighboring livestock, as well as the bountiful wildlife that call this special place home, PETS ARE NO LONGER PERMITTED on the premises.
Firewood is not provided, though there are several roadside stands nearby where it is available for purchase.
You'll be pretty independent here. We provide self-check-in for your convenience. Directions and access information (including the bathroom code!) will be messaged to you prior to your stay.
Jug Handle is the perfect place to unplug. There is NO WIFI and LIMITED/NO CELL SERVICE.
Weather and wind can kick up suddenly on the coast. It is your personal responsibility to be prepared and use caution. We reserve the right to ban campfires at any time. Slide Ranch is a nonprofit organization established in 1970, becoming one of the first Park Partners in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
Slide Ranch is located on the Marin coast, on land that has a rich history in connecting people to food. The Coast Miwok once fished and foraged for food at this site, and in the late 19th century Portuguese dairy farmers purchased the land and produced milk and butter for residents of San Francisco. In 1969, 134 acres of this fertile coastline were rescued from commercial development. Slide Ranch camping fees directly fund scholarships for youth programs throughout the year.
Slide Ranch is an unpaved ranch environment. Our trails and garden paths all consist of uneven, sloping terrain, often muddy or soft ground during the winter season, and may be challenging to access for visitors with significant mobility restrictions.
Minors aged 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
No pets allowed; service animals are permitted.
We do not have showering facilities or flush toilets. Water in all Slide Ranch taps is potable for refilling water bottles/jugs. Soap is provided for hand washing.

Located within 45 minutes of the wine country and 2 miles from the coast, our property is 400 acres of rolling hills and redwood groves, with a creek running along its base. With miles of trails meandering through quiet woods and meadows, you will be able to revel in the tranquility of a private preserve, without sacrificing easy access to some of Sonoma County's most famous attractions. A hundred years ago, this land was used to graze sheep. Remnants of the old fence lines can still be seen in places, along with old cement troughs. Since then, the land has been left to its own devices, passing through many hands, most famously owned by two brothers in the 1980's who built a truly amazing tree house in the forest which has been featured in several magazine articles. It was revamped and updated in 2016 by a master craftsman, using fallen redwood logs found on the property and is now a unique structural work of art, available for overnight stays. We produce 100% grass fed, dry-aged beef on our certified organic pastures and have a store on site if you would like to purchase delicious steaks, ribs, ground beef for hamburgers or some roasts to take home. Our cattle graze on the native grasses, never grain, and drink only water produced from our own springs. We also raise Kiko meat goats and produce pastured, certified organic duck eggs on a commercial basis. Whether it's surfing at sandy beaches, award-winning clam chowder, a wine tour, horseback riding or a hot air balloon ride you're after, you won't have far to drive if you make our ranch your base camp. You may see a family of deer appear suddenly, or a few Scottish Highland cows which we allow to roam freely over the property. There are over twenty species of wild birds that grace this protected spot, so bring your binoculars! A portion of your fee goes towards protecting native flora and fauna as part of our private wildlife preservation program. A limited number of private, widely spaced camp spots are available for visitors. The Eagles' Nest Treehouse (mentioned above) is very isolated and you may or may not even be aware that there are other people within miles of you. For those who value nature, seclusion, quiet and the artistry of old growth redwood, this is the place for you.

Located right off coastal US highway 1, Timber Cove campground sits right at the edge of breathtaking, oceanside cliffs. We are situated on roughly two acres of land, with multiple campsites for tent/car camping or RV’s. Each bluff campsite has a picnic table, fire pit and water. Electricity is available to use for an extra fee. The beach and waterfall campsites do not have picnic tables so you might want to bring one if you’ve booked there. We have separate men’s and women’s flush bathrooms, with coin-operated hot showers. We have firewood with kindling for sale on site, payable with cash or Venmo. Please take note of local fire bans, when in effect. Dog friendly, though be advised a leash is recommended as we are close to the road, but they can run leash-free down at the beach. We are located 30 minutes north of the town of Jenner, with Gualala 30 minutes to the north. Gualala has grocery stores, a post office, and some shops. Fort Ross Store is located one mile down the road, just before Timber Cove, and sells basic food necessities, drinks, sandwiches, ice and gas. Internet cell service can be spotty in our area, depending on your provider, so bring your own Starlink services if you have them. We also have access to the beach below, and offer beach camping as well. Take note that the road down to the beach is steep with uneven terrain. The weather can vary quickly here, so be sure to bring multiple layers of clothing and camp gear for various types of weather, and headlamps are useful for getting around the property at night!
We hope you’ll come visit our little slice of heaven on the ocean cliffs, gaze at the stars, marvel at the sunsets, watch the harbor seals dozing on their rocks and the many bird species that inhabit our property. My aunt and uncle bought the property in 1947 from its first European settler, Paolo Gabrielli, who immigrated in early 1914 from northern Italy with slips of his grapevine in the lining of his coat. (The grapevine still grows over the back deck.) What can you expect? Quiet, beauty, birdsong, ocean roar, widely spaced campsites (only 5 on the 5 acres set aside for camping). Free firewood, local tips on travel and where to hike or what to visit. Or total solitude. Bring your (most non-cattle-chasing breeds) dogs if you wish (males must be neutered). Starlink internet. Walk to the beach of our wild ocean along a no-shoulder country road. We have no visible neighbors, no ambient light or sound. The air is clean and clear and the water is potable from an artesian spring on the property. No electricity at the sites and no generators allowed. (Charge your electronics at the farmhouse.) We offer homemade soup, cobbler, fresh bread, morning coffee as extras; you can order with the booking. The Victorian village of Ferndale is three miles east, as is a beautifully maintained 110-acre town wilderness with hiking trails called Russ Park. A 150-year-old cemetery slopes down a hillside & is filled with 19th century charm and history. Shops and restaurants welcome visitors. There are several bars/a wine bar/and a historic saloon that's as old boy as it was in 1890. A music venue in a restored 19th century church has amazing acoustics and attracts international talent as a top-notch venue (sessions are filmed for PBS) midway between Portland and San Francisco. So, it's a mix of town and country, village and farm, wilderness and bewilderedness. Safe, safe, safe, meaning: you can leave your belongings in your site and when you come back... they're still there :) One caveat: please arrive before dark. There is no electricity in the campgrounds, and no generators are allowed. You will not be able to reach (or maybe even locate) your site without disturbing others. This is a place of beauty, love, and laughter; we welcome the world.

Beautiful natural campsites in the Valley of the Moon (Ojai Valley). Our sites are within an eighth of a mile of walking, running, biking, and riding trails from Ojai to the beaches of Ventura. On many days you can experience Ojai’s famous pink moments. You can hike the trails above Ojai, boat, eat, or picnic at Lake Casitas. Travel to nearby Ventura to shop, fish the pier, or take a deep sea fishing charter or Island charter to Whale watch or fish around the Channel Islands.
Please note the aerial view of the camping area recently placed by Hipcamp is NOT AT ALL REPRESENTATIVE of the current camping sites and shows a photo that is many years old when the site was merely land.
That photo is without any of the existing amenities or improvements. The actual sites are all Larger than Federal Park and Statepark guidelines, with averages of 20'x30' for campsites and 20'x40' for a long RVCampsite.
We have planted many young trees and continue to plant trees and native shrubs around and near the sites. We have picnic tables, table coverings, fire pits, and camping rugs/footprints. There is also an outdoor shower, a shower tent with hot water, and an upgraded porta-potty with a sink.
Note: During times when high heat is predicted, we strongly recommend that our Hipcampers bring pop-up shade tents or canopies for their sites.
The Hipcamp is adjacent to our working ranch, and any photos of old sheds, trucks, a wood lot, or other equipment are NOT on the Hipcamp, but you will drive past that property to get to the separate Hipcamp area.
Wineries, Farmer's Markets, Craft Breweries, dispensaries, and more are within 10 to 15 minutes of our site. Our location allows moments when you may see Hawks, Owls, Geese, Swallows, Robins, Bluebirds, and more.
We offer both tent and RV camping.

You choose your own campsite so plan to arrive early. You can park and walk around. There is signage that says "CAMP" with Arrows.
BYO water. We have sulfur spring water. Great for your skin, not good to drink!
There's a couple outhouses on the property. One in the main camp zone, one at the far north end of the lower Redwood campsite.
You can also bring a shovel and take a walk if you're in the more remote campsites.
We have a dumpster outside the gate for your garbage.

The site is amazing with a gorgeous view! The deck was so nice too! We have a van & we backed it right in so our first view in the morning was of the beautiful ocean! We brought our dog & he loved the below beach & also walking along the bluffs at Timber Cove Resort right next door. Our site, #10 was amazing & I would come back again! Ken was an incredibly kind and welcoming host, we loved our stay!
The location is wonderful, it’s close to so many things to do, but far enough that it is peaceful. Really appreciated the lists at the campsite for local places to eat/walk/sight see, etc., especially not being from the area. The lists also had small descriptions that helped you know what you might be getting yourself into (things like- can get busy, parking is tricky, etc.)
The two sites are huge, and have a ton of space to spread out and relax. We absolutely loved the whole ‘vibe’ of the place - rustic, but so well taken care of.
Our family loved the lawn games that were available to play in our site, as well as the tree swing. It was very convenient to have the outdoor sink, shower, and toilet all right there in the communal space.
We loved our stay here, and would absolutely go back!

Overnight stay felt safe and spots were clean. Host had water in a container waiting for us. Lots of bugs but that is to be expected- just bring bug spray. There is no service so screenshot the gate lock code and address so you have access to it offline.

We had the pleasure of camping at Ken and Jud's over the 4th of July weekend. They were incredibly kind and even took the time to show us around the campsite. We will absolutely be coming back up to SLO and staying at SLO Country Camp in the very near future! Perfect place to take in the scenery and unwind after a long day of travel. Our pup enjoyed it too!

Ken and Judi are amazing hosts, and we're incredibly grateful that they share their beautiful property with hipcampers. Location is super convenient, amenities are thoughtful, the space feels private, and there are ample sitting areas (on both sites) from which you could enjoy the 360 views. We're self contained, but the outdoor sink was so convenient, and the shower and toilet looked well maintained and clean if you need it. We felt so at home, especially coming back from a day out and about. Can't wait to return!

Beautiful property, flushable toilet, hot water, and if you order, delicious food. We loved our hearty soup. Our dog loved exploring the area, and it's close to Centerville Beach. Wendy, John, and Louie (sweet dog) were great hosts!

San Dab is magical! We spent 3 nights, and each waking up only 20ft from the water is amazing. The sites are lovely. We’ve been here twice and already want to go back! Brenda is wonderful and communicative. We love Timber Cove ❤️

We had an amazing stay at site 10 at Timber Cove. Our camper van nestled in so well next to the deck site 10 has, giving us good privacy and an incredible view of the ocean and the gorgeous cliffs. The best part of our stay was falling asleep to the sound of the waves - an absolute dream stay. Brenda is a perfect host with good communication, availability, and kindness.

Very nice large campsite. Stayed with group of 11. Very nice bathrooms. 10 min walk to beach, you do have to cross highway 1 to get to beach. Path to beach overgrown with poison oak. Had to bring trash to transfer station about 10 mins away after trip. Very quiet, very spacious campsite, will likely visit again. Would be nice of paths better maintained and had trash solution.

We were at the redwood camp creekside and it was the perfect little site. We had our own little private toilet which was nice and convenient. It was small but perfect for 2 people. The running creek at night was so relaxing. Only thing that was a bummer is we paid for the mineral baths and the water never got warm and that was a huge reason why we booked. I would still definitely go back but would not book the baths next time.

This was a classic Big Sur camping experience: rustic, peaceful, redwoods, beautiful stream, with the ocean only a short walk away. You could see Highway 1 in the distance, but any traffic noise was completely drowned out by the sound of the stream and the chorus frogs at night. It felt secluded and immersed in nature while still being easy to access.
