The post is generally accurate, but given the price point the owner requested for this stay we expected some basic nice-to-haves that were overlooked. Really all that is provided is a cleared patch of field to set up tents on - there's no signage from the road where to turn into and the only seating that was included in the site was a wooden hanging bench that had broken and was just lying on the ground. Would have been reasonable for like 30 dollars.

The campsite once we found it had a great view. It would be helpful if the host placed an identifying marker or sign at the site to help confirm for the guest. We were under the impression that the camp site once reserved was for my group only. At midnight while our group was asleep a car arrived and when confronted said they had a reservation for the site as well. We were not aware of additional reservations. My group was all awoken by the arrival of others and it really scared my son, friend and myself to have to confront new arrivals in the middle of the night while also being in the middle of nowhere. Once it became understood that the visitors were campers and seemingly nothing else my group was able to get back to sleep but we first had to deal with car lights and the noise of setting up camp. Overall really odd and although it did not destroy our experience it was unnecessary and better communication with everyone is needed.

What a beautiful site! Truly a magical drive up the hill and such a peaceful, undisturbed piece of land. From our site, you could see the ocean on one side and mountains on the other. Camp was quiet and great for hosting a small birthday party for me! So close to the beach. Chris is wonderful and accommodating!
Only note, road to get to the campsite was a little rocky so I didn’t feel comfortable doing it in the Prius but any car with more clearance did great.

Chris and his family are amazing hosts. We had a wonderful time at the Lodge, watching sunset, feeling the bliss. Just peaceful. Good for a small group (<8) or solo camping. Chris is building the restrooms. Will be more than happy to come back!

We didn’t end up staying overnight at this sight. There was a light at a neighboring property right next to the site that was so bright, almost like a spotlight. It didn’t feel secluded and we weren’t confident we were in the right spot. We didn't reach out to the host to tell them we'd be arriving late, that's our bad. But it was really hard to know if we were in the right place with all the fog and arriving in the dark. We messaged the host but they didn't get back to us until the next day (which was expected because it was already late evening). I recommend having some clearer instructions and pictures, or some signs at the site so guests are sure. To be honest, we were pretty disappointed that there were a few houses nearby with bright lights. We were hoping to escape the lights from the city. Not what we were expecting based on other reviews and photos. Again, we didn't stay overnight so can't speak to how the site looks in the day. If you plan to stay here, know that, while there is a lot of open space, there are a few houses with bright lights nearby. Also I recommend asking for additional instructions in case you arrive late.

It is a beautiful spot overlooking the mountains and ocean. To find the spot, use Google Maps, as it’s a more accurate coordination point. The place is a bit pricey because it lacks amenities like portable toilets, trash cans, or fresh water. However, the location is almost silent. You can hear cars, but it’s not a busy street. If you go in April, it will be hot at noon and cold and windy in the evening. There is no shade, so be prepared. Overall, it’s a fantastic camp spot.

I’m mixed on how I feel about this spot. The views are amazing, but centered around junkyards and shanty town houses. Luckily the road is very low traffic, but the directions and signage was horrible and I’m still not sure we were we were supposed to be. The highway is not passable for large RV’s. It too windy and steep with no turn around areas. If your tent camping, it would be great. Pull trailers, Rv’s, 5th wheels stay away. You’ll get into a bad situation. It’s very quiet and our dogs had fun running around free as birds. We needed some peace and quiet and felt we eventually got that. No great hiking that we could find, but the nighttime sky was incredibly clear and the stars were bright and shining. The pad were we ended up was also very unlevel, which always makes more work out of setting up.
Again, not sure if we’d go back because of the problems, but had a good time even with the problems.

If you wanna be alone, really alone, this is the place. Great views, just a few minutes to PCH, beach, food, shopping etc. It is primitive. I would not recommend for large RV’s.
But was looking for a couple days solo in a tent, and this was perfect. There’s even halfway decent phone/data reception, that may be a plus depending. Good place to throw a tent.

Amazing spot to stay! The views are great, the camp spot is secluded and you are very close to the beaches! Only thing is it gets super hot during the days without shade, but not a problem when you can easily spend all day at the beach.

Exactly what we needed for a weekend getaway. Spent the days at the beach (10 min drive) and then came back to the campsite for beautiful sunsets. Make sure to bring an EZ tent for shade, other than that it was perfect! Will be coming back. The hosts are so nice and responsive!

A remote clearing with a phenomenal view! Not for the faint hearted driver as it’s up a steep road with sheer drops and the turning is easy to miss but we managed it in our 30ft RV and it’s well worth the vista, skies and privacy.

The views were breathtaking! Plus, it was delightful to feel remote even though things were super close like Oxnard.
There were some roosters that woke us around 3am, but then it allowed us to watch the full moon.
I do feel like $80 was a bit much to camp there though I’d stay again just because of the beauty and tranquility.

I stayed here with two friends for one night, and we loved it! It's surrounded by beautiful views, is out of the way enough to feel secluded but not completely isolated, and the porch swing is a great addition to watch the sunset.

This is an impeccable campsite. The views are breathtaking. We woke up in a cloud both mornings and the sunset was award winning. Highly recommend this site. Well water is available a short walk away. We were able to get our 17' camper trailer to the site no problem. But know that the drive up the mountain is very steep and the site is accessed by a short dirt road (high-ish clearance recommended).

Overall not a bad location, but as others mentioned, the price is a bit too high for what it is. You can definitely find more affordable locations. The spot is close to the road and to the houses nearby, so you hear cars and people. That on its own is not a bad thing, but if you’re looking for a more secluded location, this might not be for you. Some trash in the area, like chocolate wrappers and cigarettes, don’t be like those campers!

It was HOT!! We thought we were escaping the heat, but the marine layer didn't reach us. We were above it and there are no trees for shade. An RV may have made it a better experience as we were in a tent. Thank goodness we had an EZ Up, it was our only bit of shade and a saving grace. The ground was even too hot for our dog to lay on.
The road getting there is paved and has guard rails, but in spots gets very narrow, has 10mph hairpin turns, is quite steep, and is the only way in/out for the neighborhood.
The view was great, we could see fireworks coming from the valley below (it was the 4th of July) and the Santa Monica Mtns.
We never saw or talked to the hosts, we just got a bit of instructions when we booked the spot. We had no problem finding it.
I would not pay $75/night to stay here again. Maybe $40-$50 and definitely NOT during the summer.

I had a really lovely quick trip, car camping under the stars. This location is really unbeatable in terms of mountains + beach camping. Just a 10 minute drive down to the beach but you still get the privacy of camping in the hills. The sunset & moonrise were GORGEOUS. I agree that the dry brush needed to be cut back & I guess I should’ve known it wouldn’t be green & lush during the summer, but dog owners beware it is covered in foxtails & burrs. It’s also on the smaller side, perfect for 1-2 tents though. Most importantly, I felt safe in the area as a woman camping alone. I agree it’s a liiiittle pricey for a bare bones site but hoping to see a picnic table and/or portapotty next time. Either way this LA local hopes to be back soon. :)

We loved camping at The Lodge on Deer Creek! Such a relaxing spot! The views (when it wasn’t foggy) and the flowers were beautiful.
The road up to the campsite was a little steep but our class B van made it up no problem. Next time we will bring boots for our fluffy dog as there were a lot of grass sticker. We did need leveling blocks to level the camper
Site was big enough for multiple campers to fit comfortably. We will be back with friends!
