We are a small privately owned small campground (20 sites only) located on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, canvas tents on platforms, teepees and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home. We are tent camping only with only one site that allows a small travel trailer or van. (#14) . We are dog friendly and allow dogs in all but 5 glamping sites. We do enforce camp rules especially our quiet time between 10 PM and 7 AM
We’ve been told that we have a “family camp” vibe. We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together with multiple families. We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day.
We have a lodge that is stocked with games and a ping pong table. The lodge has a microwave, Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups).We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection. We have electricity at the at the lodge for small appliances and charging phones. We have a compressor on site to blow up your air mattresses or float toys. We’ve been told that our bathrooms are the “cleanest” ever and have changing tables and diaper pails. We offer nice flushing toilets and hot showers! We have many extra amenities including a compressor to use for your air mattresses,
For outdoor activities we have basketball, volleyball, pickleball and cornhole not to mention the playground with swing set . We have hiking trails throughout the property. Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores (bring the fixings).
The creek starts out in spring looking like a rushing river featuring many fishing and swimming holes. As the summer progresses the water level falls but is still great for water play and fishing.
We have propane BBQs (we provide the propane for BBQs) located throughout the property. We also have a propane grill and charcoal BBQ located in the common area for all to use. There is a dutch oven pit also in the fire bowl area.
We do not allow wood fires at the individual sites but each site has a propane firepit for ambiance (not cooking) that requires you to purchase a 20 lb. propane cannister on site (add in extras) or pay cash on site.
No internet service. There is limited internet only available for purchases at the setore.
We require a 3 night minimum for the major holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. We do exclusive events so you may need to explore multiple weekends to find the right reservation.
We are located in the foothills so we are a short hop to many local attractions that include river rafting, gold mines, wineries and historical towns with great eating establishments. Tahoe is less than an hour away and there a many hiking trails within 20-30 minutes.
We have a limited number of items to rent i.e, tents, cots, camp stoves, etc. We rent a battery pack for those that use a cpap. We also have a small store on site for those items you forgot and a good selection of ice cream and ice. We take venmo or cash.

The L3 Ranch was founded in 1974 when my grandfather bought the property for his show cows. In 1978, someone gave him a racehorse to pay off a debt. From then on, the property was known for its Quarter horse race horses, with some of the best in the state being born right here. In 2013 he found our he had cancer and handed the ranch down to me, Travis. While he survived the cancer, he's happy in retirement playing cards with his buddies every week and hanging out with his dog.Now the ranch is known for its horse boarding, cattle, and goats. We even hold weddings and events at the lake sometime. My main goal is to bring the ranch in a more in line with sustainable ranching. Its a process, but I love what I am doing, and where the ranch is going.

We really enjoyed our first stay on the ranch! The spot is perfect for families with kids and dogs, trailers or tents. The extra amenities like row boats, firewood, plenty of seating, huge picnic/cooking area and flush toilets really set this place apart. Travis was a great host and made our stay stress-free and super relaxing.
(The weather was beautiful at the end of October) We can’t wait to go back!

The BEST experience we had. I can’t Thank enough to Travis for providing such a wonderful campsite. It is well maintained, lot of facilities, its scenic. Special Thanks from our kids for Barn tour. It was a very secluded area. I loved the fact that I was the only person there and there was no other camper it was nice. It wasn't very far from Yosemite. And you had everything there you needed a shower, A toilet. Gallon of water. Fire pit.

The host had the camp ground equipped with a picnic table under a tent canopy, which was greatly enjoyed for food prep. He had a nice screened fire pit and comfy chairs to chilax in. Camp site #1 had nice big shade trees and was the best choice of the 2 that we saw. The best surprise was the cool red wood shower that had on demand hot water for great showers, a surprise luxury. Take water, as hosts warned, there is no water, thus no real toilets either, but a very clean and well stocked port-a-pot!
This camp site is surprisingly close to Yosemite west entrance on 120!
I will stay there again on our next visit.
Oh yeah, and at night... those stars! Wow!

It's a very nice site if you don't mind being 100ft from the highway. Traffic dies at night but picks up pretty early. The amenities were exactly as listed and having the gas station across the street was great. If you have a large group get both the sites because they're very close. I would stay again. The shower, portopotty and table were perfect.

Site #1 was put together very well and was spacious, shower and restroom were clean and had no issues while there. Site also comes with its own canopy which is super helpful. Before your stay you do get a message which Jim does go very into detail in regards to the site and how to work specific items there. Site is also only 7-10 minutes away from Yosemite, does not feel like a long ride, definitely enjoy the view while you are there it is all beautiful. Definitely recommend trying this camp site out!

We camped at site #4, a shady site on a small rise at Sawyers Bar. It’s a little above the Cosumnes River, but a short walk from a common area swimming hole with small beach. The swimming hole is delightful in mid-September.

Jim, wow what an amazing spot! Love the care you put into this camp with the hot water shower, hammock, chairs and canopy. We enjoyed it so much! We did get a bear coming around to see if we left anything out for him. Thankful for the bear box! We will definitely be back.

Our family had an amazing late summer experience - hiking, swimming and enjoying this beautiful ranch in Amador County along the Consumnes River. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. For swimming, Tom recommended the Swimming Hole at Sawyer’s Bar, which was perfect for our six year old - a nice sandy beach with little to no current in the shallows. The campsite was spacious and clean with lots of shade and plenty of space between other sites, which made the site feel very private. We visited with a travel trailer and thought the dirt road to the campsites was well maintained when we visited. We cannot wait to visit again!

What a great campground! Plenty of space for you and your friends to set up tents with enough space in between for privacy even! Porta-potty was clean and well-maintained. Plenty of branches and wood you can grab around for a campfire, and you can even buy some from Jason if you prefer the convenience. Easy to find and great communication with Jason as well. And access to the cute lake is definitely a plus!
Love the outdoor shower as well but the addition of a small curtain for extra privacy would be extra perfect!
All in all it was a great home base for our Winnemuca lake hike; highly recommended!
