Nearby activities include hiking and exploring 'The Buttes', aka '3 Peaks' - a nearby rock formation of ancient origin - about a mile to the south. Also in the area is Harper Dry Lake, which has been used as an airfield to test experiment aircraft in the past, and includes a wildlife viewing area (look for the signs, off Harper Lake Road, on the way in). To the north is Fremont Peak, and in the distance to the East can be found Black Mountain. Common flora in the area include Creosote Bush, Salt Brush and White or, Purple Sage.

Two Playas of the Mojave
Quite the Adventure!
Really unique location! My review may not be the best representation of what it's like to camp here (I only booked 1 night), and very high winds caused me to leave in the middle of the night. I was car camping and could barely exit the car due to wind, and I could not locate the toilet (at least I couldn't find it in the car using my high beams). I did not see the campground during the daylight at all, keep this in mind. The directions to the camp were detailed, and there's an 80% chance I ended up in the right spot. I arrived around 11pm. I'd recommend for others to arrive during the day and give yourself plenty of time to travel down the dirt roads. I left around 3am and took some wrong turns, but I had some of the roads on Google Maps loaded, so using that and the car compass, I found the right road again. On the upside, the stars were beautiful. Definitely an adventure!

Desert beauty!
Beautiful and secluded! Easy walk to rocks and great for dogs. Take it slow on fr"59 if washboard is a concern, harper lake road is paved 55 mph.

3 Peaks Sanctuary
Secluded, monument-style camping
Great spot if you’re looking for some secluded desert camping. You get some huge rock piles to explore - there’s a lot of desert wildlife. The drive in is a bit bumpy so you’ll have to drive slow most of the way. There’s some crude fire pits made by past campers. Only con we found really was that some past campers left garbage: glass, boxes, abandoned shoes.. It’s a choose your own spot camping area so you can always find a nice clean spot. If you’re into it, you’ll be passing the Mojave solar project on your way to the site. A massive solar compound in the middle of the desert just off the highway.

Beautiful Private and desolate camp
Private area full of amazing wild life. BEWARE OF SNAKES! My 8 year old was playing in the dirt looking at rocks because the rock's in the area are superb and he looks over to see a sidewinder rattle snake looking at him he slowly backed away Until he could run to the car. He was not bit thank God but it was too close for comfort. Also you do need a 4x4 or else you will get stuck and there are no tows close by so be prepared. It's gorgeous there and we will return.

Two Playas of the Mojave
Thank you, Tedd!
I almost didn't want to leave a review in order to keep the spot a secret. The spot was absolutely gorgeous and in a secluded area. I loved that it was far enough from Cuddleback that we weren't disturbed by anyone riding on the lake. A bit difficult to find if you're not entirely focused, but nothing too stressful. Be aware that there's no natural shading so if you go in the summer be prepared! Overall, Tedd was a great host and very responsive to my inquiries. Thanks so much!
