We had a fantastic stay at Steve's hipcamp; the site was private and the creek and waterhole next to the site were a wonderful reprieve to the heat of the day. The camp fire spot was a great size and had a rotating floating grill that was great for cooking over the coals. Steve was also highly responsive and very friendly and helpful.

We loved Steve's secret spot. Very hot weekend but the creek and the swimming hole were perfect. Water so cold, I needed to float around rather than swim.
Very private , Steve was the perfect host, checked on us , also asked if we needed anything from.the supermarket.

John and Lyn’s land feels peaceful, spacious, and very well cared for. What really stood out was the quiet natural setting and the sense of privacy—you feel properly immersed in nature rather than in a crowded campground. The hosts are warm, welcoming, and respectful of your space, which makes the stay comfortable and relaxed. It’s a great spot if you’re looking to unwind, enjoy the outdoors, and experience genuine hospitality. Enjoyed a nice hike in the morning.
There are quite a few nice trails for walking, strolling, or hiking.
John gave us a nice tour around the property.
We would love to go there again and spend more than a couple of days next time.
It was the best way to start the new year and I really needed it after working the busiest time of the year.
The best way to recharge and really appreciate the serenity.

We had the most beautiful stay at Big Rocks Hip Camp for New Year's Eve. Peaceful, spacious and genuinely special, it’s one of those places that instantly helps you exhale.
The setting is beautiful – quiet and natural so you feel immersed in nature without feeling crowded. It was ideal for our kids, who had space to explore and just be kids, and equally perfect for our dogs, who were very much living their best lives. 🐕🌿
John and Lyn are the kind of hosts that make a great place exceptional – warm, welcoming, incredibly accommodating, and clearly passionate about sharing their little slice of the world. Nothing was too much trouble, and their care and thoughtfulness really showed.
If you’re looking for a calm, family- and dog-friendly escape that feels both restorative and memorable, Big Rocks Hip Camp is an absolute gem. We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and already planning our return. 💚

A nice little camp. Well maintained. I liked the small trees/shrubs between sites to give privacy. Good location. The host came over the next morning and introduced himself. Very friendly & welcoming. I was lucky enough to be there when the markets were on in the black next door. That was an extra bonus!

Follow the directions written out not google maps. Great place beautiful scenery and some pretty good facilities, 4 or so cold showers and some drop holes nice undercover area and Wayne was great.
Pretty much plug in the utopia falls rock pools from the Maryborough side and follow that in the dirt road past the brick utopia hut and a place called reeds residents, follow that road down a fair way till just past a creek crossing (was dry when I went)

We enjoyed the friendly atmosphere initiated by John.
Lot's of room for us in the Main Camp.
My 7.7m long Mitsubishi Rosa (bus to motorhome conversion) handled the interesting track in from the main road without any issues at all.
I quite like this park and look forward to future camps there.

We loved staying at big rocks bush retreat. They were very accommodating and the area was just beautiful to stay. Next time. We will try out a different camp but enjoyed the one we stayed at near main camp was good to be able to bring the dogs and the bikes and have a great weekend away with family.

Great spot. You get the space to yourself, with a little creek to cool down in, too. I had a 2wd and parked at the top of the hill just in case, but it wasn't an issue to take stuff the very short walk down and Steve even rocked up when I arrived to help take things on his quadbike - legend! Firepit is great and an abundance of firewood provided. Lots of trees around for good shade, too. Excellent communication before arriving. Cheers, Steve!

We loved the peace and tranquility of this place. You will never find a packed camping cause Wayne takes care of this land and the people that come here to rest in nature.
Kitchen is fully equipped and bathroom are in great conditions.
Rock pools are really close from here and I highly recommend to summit Mt. Walsh. Enjoy your stay as we did!!

A real bush camp but with the bonus of a toilet. Plenty of space to spread out. We went on a hike following the 4wd and dirt bike trails, with gorgeous views from the perfect vantage spots. No problems with access to the property. Will definitely be going back in the future
