Weefarm Brisbane River Camping

9 sites · RVs, Tents2 acres · Fairney View, QLD
'Weefarm' is situated on a picturesque bend of the Brisbane River near Fernvale and is accessible by 4WD only. Kids are free to 17 so if you have children between 12-17, please include them in the "children" booking. We provide an exclusive booking for you on absolute river frontage for tents and camper trailers. Spend your time swimming, fishing, canoeing or simply sipping a cold drink on the pontoon under the umbrella. With an easterly aspect you’ll want to spend the morning swimming or exploring the riverscape and when the afternoon shade sets in light the campfire and put your feet up. There is no vehicular boat ramp but still excellent access for other small watercraft. Due to the steep track to the camp area we insist on 4WD’s only - though you can walk down if feeling energetic! Please bring drinking water and a desire to leave the riverside just as you found it. We have enough room for around 20 people in tents or camper trailers. Portaloo toilet available at the campsite. Campfires are permitted in the circle but please be mindful of any restrictions. You can purchase firewood from us if needed. Dogs are also welcome but must stay with you at all times. Please let us know they are coming as well.

Warning View Campground

8 sites · RVs, Tents1 acre · Murwillumbah, NSW
Our campground is on my family’s dairy farm that has been in the family since 1904. I’m the 4th generation on the farm and work alongside my parents and my husband operating the family business of milking cows. Our campground is on a private area of flat ground beside the Oxley River with views of Mt Warning. We are excited to share our piece of paradise with others. We DO have a composting toilet but DON’T have any shower facilities. Although the creek is very close by we advise you bring your own drinking water. We are pleased to provide a gravelled campfire area along with a gorgeous outdoor setting that seats 8. Our campground provides a unique private camping opportunity. Once you book whether it is for a group of one or 25 no one else can book the site. The site is not visible form the road. Perfect for a relaxing getaway that brings you close to nature and connecting with friends. As we are a working farm, unfortunately, we cannot allow pets.

Mororo Primitive Bush Camp

1 site · RV, Tent160 acres · Mororo, NSW
Once of the highway driving to the campsite you be surrounded by dense bushland. On arrival at the camp sight it'll be just you and the bush. You'll have a small clearing with a shelter surrounded by dense bushland where you can have a camp fire, in complete privacy due to having only one camp-site on the farm so you don't have to worry about others. You will hear native birds and possibly see native fauna. You will hear some slight road noise from the A1 Pacific highway due to the proximity but this noise is drowned out by the native birds and dense bushland. The camp sight is dog friendly and we allow you to bring your horses, dirt bikes and mountain bikes to explore the vast surrounding bushland and go riding on local tracks. (riding is not to be conducted within the property itself) You can also go Bush walking and we also recommend you bring a good quality spotlight so you can go spotlighting looking for native fauna that come out during the night. The property is not to far from a local 4wd access beach if your into beach fishing or sand driving there is also multiple Boat ramps nearing the property to launch boats into the Clarence River. This is also a primitive self sufficient campsite. We can supply firewood at an additional cost (wheel barrow size only) just contact us to arrange.(strictly no cutting of timber or firwood on the property includes fallen trees/logs or standing trees.) Mosquito repellent and citronella candles highly recommended during mosquito season. Please don't burn rubbish or non flammable materials in fire pits. We highly recommend having a 4wd to access the campsite during or after wet periods. Any suggestions and feed back is much appreciated Enjoy your stay. Surrounding areas- Approx 27km from Yamba- Approx 23km from Iluka.

Private Alpine Forest Paradise

1 site · RV, Tent100 acres · Trawool, VIC
A truly off-grid away-from-it-all alpine forest experience. If you've ever craved an escape to your own private clearing in the woods, this gorgeous mountain paradise is for you! The moment you step out of your vehicle, the first thing that hits you is the blissful silence. The only sound that fills the pure clear air is that of birdsong and wildlife. Our property is up the top of the mountain in the Tallarook State Forest. The property is 115 acres of beautiful high gumtrees with abundant wildlife. There are motorbike tracks to ride on, and bush walking aplenty! There is a clearing of approx 4 acres, which has a small home, a clean outdoor toilet, an orchard, a few sheds, and plenty of space to set up camp on. The home is unoccupied, so you will have the sprawling bush site to yourself. Sit under the majestic canopy of stars in the evening and enjoy the warmth of the rustic bluestone campfire as you relax and unwind. There is nothing better than enjoying the ambience of an open campfire in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but a stunning night sky above your head! There is plenty of tank water which you can responsibly help yourself to. There is access to a toilet (no shower). The campsite has a picnic table for meals.  Whilst it takes approx 10 mins of driving on dirt tracks to get to it, once on the property, surrounded by tall eucalypts, the sound of the birds, the absence of any humans, and the refreshing mountain air, totally zens you out, and you feel like you are miles away from the hustle and in your own little world! Please bring your own food, drinks and camping essentials. Check the CFA website for up-to-date fire safety information, and to ensure there are no fire bans prior to lighting fire in campfire or charcoal bbq's. Plenty of firewood available on site. Large picnic tables available for long lazy lunches with friends. Umbrella mounts on each table if you wish to bring your own umbrella for shade. Note - the site is available for single date bookings if you wish to host a picnic, get together or bush bbq with friends and family, with the guarantee of having a beautiful secluded spot that is totally reserved for you only. Trampolines x 3 available for kids and plenty of spots to set up bike ramps or jumps (BYO). A mini bush kitchen is set up with pots and pans for little budding chefs to cook up a mud pie or wombat stew. Hours of entertainment and exploring for kids, and so much opportunity for parents to relax, unwind and soak in this mountain paradise getaway in the middle of the forest. Another 800 mtrs from our front gates are the Warragal Rocks, which is a excellent walk and view from atop the Mountain. We have one flushing toilet on site, plenty of firewood, a large bluestone fire pit area, and some charcoal BBQs that can be used for cooking on. Water is rainwater via tanks. Would be best to bring your own drinking water.

The campsite is easily accessible from the road, and is a convenient distance to Byron Bay and Bangalow (15 mins), Brunswick Heads (10 mins), and Mullumbimby (6 mins). These towns offer great dining, local market, and retail experiences, along with a plethora of activities to pursue: swimming, walking, fishing, great surfing, sea kayaking, ballooning, skydiving, horseriding, golf (eg renowned Ocean Shores golf club is 20 minutes away), and the wonderful rail trail for bikers or walkers can be accessed at Mooball, a picturesque 20 min drive away or try out the new mountain bike trail at the vey pretty township of Uki in the hinterland. Beautiful waterfalls are less than a half hour drive away. There are many local businesses who can help you pursue these kinds of activities if you don't bring your own equipment. The campsite has views across the farm to the distant lighthouse which shines out at night. Your group are the sole visitors and we have had a lot of feedback from guests appreciative of the privacy and convenience this affords them. This farm has been a dairy then beef cattle farm, thus unfortunately it has been mostly cleared, but we are slowly regenerating native species with our cherished hope to continue this in the coming years.

Private caravan camping in Australia guide

Overview

Australia is a wild-at-heart continent, and camping is a part of its DNA thanks to Aussies who love camping holidays. It isn't hard to find a good caravan park or camping area—from five-star glamping at Uluru and family-friendly coastal holiday parks to rustic campsites at cattle stations and bush camping in national parks. Pitch your tent near the dunes and be lulled asleep by the sound of the surf, or wake up to bird calls and frog song in the rainforest. Take in the views from a country peak, or head out into the wilderness on an Outback road trip. And the best thing about camping in Australia? There's always perfect camping weather somewhere, no matter the time of year.

Where to go

New South Wales

New South Wales has a bit of everything that makes Australia such a great place to camp. Hipcampers can choose from snow-covered mountains, beaches, rainforest, and Outback plains—you can always find a good camping spot in NSW.

Queensland

Australia’s favourite place to escape the cold, the white-sand beaches north and south of Brisbane in southeast Queensland are warm enough to swim in all year-round. It may be too wet in summer to camp comfortably in the rainforest of Cairns, the Tropical North, and along the Great Barrier Reef, but winter is the best time to swim in the sea. The Outback, too, is at its best in the cooler months.

South Australia

A wild, dramatic, and mostly deserted coastline, South Australia’s rugged outback ranges and fantastic wine are just a few reasons to pitch a tent or park your caravan here. It may not always be swimming weather (the ocean waters are cold), but the beach camping here is some of the best in Australia.

Tasmania

Any time's a good time to visit Tasmania, a place that will delight intrepid Hipcampers with its wild and remote national parks and camping sites. You'll need a warm sleeping bag and good wet weather gear, as it can snow on the peaks near Hobart even in summer. But don't let a little dampness put you off, because it rains here all the time, which is why the World Heritage wilderness areas are so beautifully lush.

Victoria

Just down the road a bit from Melbourne, Victoria’s Great Ocean Road is a bucket-list road trip that lives up to the hype, with some of the best coastal camping areas around. Hiking and camping in the Grampians is good year-round, although the snow-covered high country peaks and the east coast national parks are best saved for the warmer months.

Western Australia

Western Australia is huge, so don’t expect to see it all in a couple of weeks. Let the weather be your guide and explore the coastal national parks, forests, wineries, and beaches south of Perth during the hot, dry summer, then head north to Broome and the Kimberley for a 4WD camping adventure in winter, when it rarely rains.

Northern Territory

When the wintertime chills hit the south, the Northern Territory is the place to be, especially if you’re fond of campervan road trips. The deserts of the Red Centre offer warm, fly-free days and cold nights ideal for gathering around the campfire. Kakadu National Park and the Top End are hot and dry—perfect for swimming.
