The cows will ask for scratches and tickles All the animals have been hand raised from babies and are super friendly. Sandalwood Downs Toodyay operates as a farm stay and has been in high demand for several years now. After years of traveller's requesting caravan and tents sites, Marc and Jane are excited to announce as of March 2024 we now offering 11 caravan/camping/tent sites. With only 11 unpowered sites spread out over 100 acres, you are guaranteed privacy for you and your family and friends. 3 clean instant portable toilets. A refreshing cold bush shower is available on site. The farm also features a fantastic communal area for fellow traveller's to meet, chat, have a few drinks, sit by the amazing fire pit (during winter months), have a BBQ. The farm features many beautiful hand raised farm animals such as, camels, cows, miniature goats, donkeys, alpacas, lambs, deer, a pig, emus, ducks, turkeys, guinea fowls, geese, rabbits, chooks and peacocks. Spend some time strolling the stunning walk trails and taking in the amazing views on the property, The sunsets are vivid and beautiful. The stars shine and sparkle bright. Each site is cleared and levelled siteā€™s available 3 sites accessible by 4WD only (Hill Top Double Tree, The break and The Ledge) SMALL CARAVANS ONLY, camper trailers and tents at these 3 sights. 6 sites accessible by 2WD and 4WD. Suitable for tents, camper trailers and caravans and pop tops. Most sites have chairs and tables, except sites 8, 9. 10 and 11. Fire pit open between 4.30 till 8.30pm. NO INDIVIDUAL CAMP FIRES ALLOWED. Due to guest, animal and property safety. Guest breaking this rule will be asked to leave the property. The Julimar Forest is conveniently located just 2kms away. The fabulous township of Toodyay is only 8 minutes away. Sandalwood Downs Farm: -The property is 100 acres of beautiful tranquility. Perfect for a family getaway or a romantic couple experience. Not suitable for large noisy party groups. -The property is only 45 minutes from Midland and 7 minutes from the wonderful town of Toodyay. RULES AND GUILDELINES. While staying at Sandalwood Downs we would like all visitors to understand and accept the guidelines and rules, which are in place for everybodyā€™s happiness, comfort and safety. YOUR FAMILIES SAFELY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US: - No bikes sorry. As we are a farm we do not have bike trails or paths. The paddocks are uneven terrain with incline and decline and are not safe for riding. - No yelling or squealing in the communal / play ground area. This area is for everybody's enjoyment. If your children are yelling and squealing you will all be asked to leave the communal area. - Please supervise your children at ALL times, this is for their safety. Children are not allowed to roam free around the farm without adults. Please ensure your children do not yell, squeal or run whilst around the animals. -Children must be supervised in the communal playground area, The playground is closed for use at 6.pm. - No lighting of campfires. Local Shire and DEFES have very strong rules regarding this, and if lighting of a fire occurs people will be prosecuted by DEFES and the local Shire up to $36000.00 or 3 years imprisonment, -Fabulous communal fire pit open during winter months. No individual site camp fires due to safety of our property, animals and guests. -If you smoke please place your butts in a sealed fire proof container. Please do not leave them on the ground as it is a fire risk and our animals may eat them causing health issues. -No dogs permitted on the property due to our animals roaming free. -You must be totally self contained, own power and water, (3 clean portable toilet and refreshing cold bush shower are available for use in the communal area). -Please take away all rubbish. -No big party groups. -Quiet time from 7.30pm please. Please consider other guests and our neighbours. -Check out of campsite by 11 am please. -If a gate is closed, please close it behind you as will find it very hard to catch an animal that has escaped. - Please do not enter animal enclosures/ paddocks without Jane or Marc. -As we are a farm and you will be in our farm animals home, we ask you to please be kind and friendly towards all of our animals. -You approach all animals at your own risk -Please do not feed the animals any food that has not been given to you by Jane and Marc. -Please drive very slowly through paddocks 10km per hour as animals roam freely. -You will be handed a rules and guidelines policy when you arrive which includes an emergency and evacuation plan. Make sure you read and make yourself very aware of the guidelines, as your safety is very important to us. -Arrival during day light hours is a must please arrival by 6pm, for yours and our animals safety. The front gate will be locked at 6pm for security reasons and will not unlocked till morning. THESE RULES AND GUIDELINES HELP KEEP EVERYONE HAPPY AND SAFE. This site is close to dam during winter months, so please consider the dam if booking with younger children. We had an amazing little getaway at Sandalwood Downs Farm. My daughter (7), absolutely loved the farm and all the beautiful rescue animals. We had a great camping spot by the creek bed with a deck to sit on. All the facilities were very clean and tidy. The owners were welcoming and we really enjoyed the farm tour. All the animals are obviously loved and well taken care of. Toodyay was also fun to visit with an amazing bakery and cute shops. Northam is also not too far and has the most incredible antique and vintage collectables store. Perfect little getaway. Thank you! ā¤ļø

Thank you for the lovely stay! Very much appreciated for the help with my self-inflicted car trouble too :) With some conservative driving we made it home with 9% left in the battery. Our son loved the property, a breakfast looking out over the view, gazing at the stars, and feeding the animals. Will visit again!

Stayed at Site 5 by the dam and honestly, the views were absolutely stunning. The animals were so friendly and the hosts were just lovely. The kids had the best time running around and even ā€œbuilding a pretend campfire,ā€ which they havenā€™t stopped talking about since. The animal and farm tour was a real highlightā€”we loved feeding and patting the animals and learning many interesting things along the way. Thank you for such a wonderful stay and experience. The toilets were clean and the bore water shower was fantasticā€”such a great setup. Weā€™ll definitely be back!

We recently stayed at Sandlewood Downs Farmstay in Toodyay and absolutely loved it. This place is truly something special. There were heaps of animals, plenty of open space to relax and enjoy, and a really peaceful farm atmosphere that made it easy to switch off and unwind. What really made the stay stand out, though, were the hosts Jayne and Mark. They were incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout our visit, which made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. If you are looking for a farmstay with lots of space, a great range of animals, and genuinely lovely hosts, I would highly recommend Sandlewood Downs. We had an amazing experience and would happily stay again.

Lovely spot but suffered a bit in the 39 deg days. Canā€™t predict the weather. Paddocks as expected dry and hot. Hosts are lovely people, great for the young family with kids seeing all the wonderful animals, just go in the cooler months when itā€™s all lush and green. 10 mins from toodyay, great pub meal

Beautiful views and a private camp site with lots of space. We loved walking around to see the animals and then joined the tour the following morning. Marc and Jane greeted us on arrival and were very helpful and friendly. It was so easy to drive into Toodyay for dinner/breakfast as we needed too. Will definitely stay again.

Our family had a wonderful time! The farm tour/feeding the animals was a great experience. The knowledge shared was brilliant!! Our kids fell in love with the dogs, who were super friendly and loved their attention. We look forward to booking another stay when itā€™s a bit cooler and the rains have been through so we can experience the lush greenery and water in the billabong ā˜ŗļø

Wonderful experience with all the friendly farm animals! Getting up close with the camels was an unexpected highlight. Bush shower was another treat and the farm tour was very enjoyable! Also canā€™t forget the ride in the fire truck! What more do you need, we had a great stay. Highly recommend!

To be honest, I would not recommend this place. Totally opposite of what is shown in the pictures and felt like dead place to us. We almost packed our things and left but we had no other place so we had to stay. Our spot was outside of their main gate(secured electrical fence). This made us really doubtful because we had our 2 years old boy with us. We requested to be atleast inside the gate, any place would work but they asked we can leave if we want. Terrible customer service.

All four if us loved our stay at Sandlewood Downs, so many lovely animals to see and pat . We stayed at site 2 , lots of shade but be prepared for bird droppings on tents etc . Advise bringing ground covers as sand is soft . The portable toilets were spotless and the dogs were very friendly. Strongly recommend a stay here of a couple of nights minimum to enjoy the atmosphere and make sure you walk the property to see all the animals and views .
