Had a nice stay at Trapwell Farm. Joe and Cathie are lovely. The farm is beautiful. Cathie and Joe had great communication and were very flexible. The site was a good size and being by the river was nice. Was very thankful for the prewarning about the mosquito's. Our dogs loved running around and was great to have a place that accept off lead.

Secluded camping grounds and the camping sites are far from each other. The owners are very helpful! Just beware that there are lots mozzies this time of the year, so be prepared with insect repellants, mosquito nets, etc. Building a campfire definitely helped.

Breath-taking spot with our own private creek sanctuary! We loved camping with our young kids on this property, Cathie was very attentive with great communication with us. We enjoyed the space to ourselves (despite being peak season, we felt we had so much room with pleasant chatter of neighbours in the distance), the fact that we could have our own campfire at our site, and the beautiful scenery to explore - it was true bliss!

I was really disappointed when we arrived at the site. The site we got was not next to the river (creek) as described and we had to drive thru wheat paddocks to get to the camp clearing, which had tall grass and was infested with mosquitos. To walk to the toilet we requested was about 150 meters. To go to the toilet we had to walk thru the wheat paddocks with the mosquitoes. We arrived and left 20 minutes later without being offer a refund or even a partial refund. While we talked to the host other campers also said that they are not staying there and left. Never again.

Beautiful location not far from the city, Joe and Cathie were so kind and accommodating making sure I had everything I needed. Such beautiful wildlife and landscapes, will definitely be back next year.

Cathie was an incredibly hospitable and welcoming host at Trapwell Farm. I was amongst several guests she escorted to her property and directed to our respective campsites, all spread a good distance apart. The property is picturesque and there's ample opportunity to explore. The recent rains meant there was an abundance of mozzies, which I was unprepared for, but Cathie instantly supplied me with some spray which I generously applied to keep them at bay. This was the only negative (the mozzies), and really just due to the time of year and abundance of recent rain.

Great spot! The hay bale site was a different camping experience to our usual bush camping.
Cathie and Joe were super responsive and clear with information and instructions with the camping experience. The heads up on mozzies was appreciated so we came well prepared!
The hay bale site is huge - loads of space within the hay bale circle, plus additional space on the outside. This would be the perfect spot for large groups. We loved having our own firepit and the bonus of having the wood delivered straight to site was awesome. The toilet was nice and close but nowhere near close enough that you could hear people walking back & forth, and the water tank right at the site was helpful for washing up water.
The kids had a great time heading out for walks and finding their own fun with a stick and tennis ball!
We had check ins from Joe each evening to make sure everything was OK and there was nothing we needed - this is such a great touch.
Recommend taking cash to peruse the goodies for sale down near the river site! The lemon butter was great on our morning pancakes :)

The river-side site we stayed in at Trapwell was absolutely beautiful! The river was very sweet and great for the kids to play in (in September), and we couldn't see any other campers from where we were despite the busy long weekend. Cathie was very helpful with her communications.

Lovely farm, too many campers

The farm is lovely we went over a long weekend to be off grid, zero signal and asked to be away from other campers next to the river but was placed next to a large noisy group with many children and no shade and had to relocate ourselves to a quieter shady spot far from the river right next to the road with cars driving past and kicking up a dust storm every time. We could hear the big groups rouwdyness across the field many meters away. Not the quiet experience we were looking for, but it could be that the long weekend brought more people then normal.

Our booking was supposed to be near the river, which was more like a creek. When we arrive we were taken to a dried out marshland, rampant with mosquitoes located between 2 wheat fields . We had to drive through the wheat field, there was no road to get there. The portable toilet we requested was on the other side of the wheat field. The site was unkept and not what we paid for! The owner tried to tell us that “this was one of the popular spots”. Seriously…after 3 hours on the road looking forward to a relaxing weekend camping with our friends next to the “river” with grass area. Poor experience so we headed home with our weekend spoiled. What a waste of time and money!!

We had an incredible stay at Joe and Cathie’s place. From the moment we arrived, they went out of their way to make sure we felt welcome and comfortable. Their hospitality was truly above and beyond.
The property itself is amazing—spacious, peaceful, and perfect for families. We had kids and dogs with us, and there was plenty of room for them to run around and play safely, which gave us some much-needed time to relax and unwind. The privacy and tranquility of the space made it feel like a true escape.

Very cool spot. Sites are spaced out and well situated. Enjoyed the vastness of the property. Great place for the doggos. Will definitely be back. Being long weekend and heaps of guests, the hosts still managed to get everyone to where they needed to be. The home made relish from the honesty box is also a must!

We had an absolute ripper of a weekend at this farm stay! Couldn’t have picked a better spot – our campsite was right on the river (not much water at the moment thanks to the dry spell, but still stunning), and just a short stroll to the loo. Each site is spaced out about 500 metres apart, which was unreal for privacy and meant we could kick back with a generator and a bit of music at night without bothering anyone.
The owners were absolute legends – super welcoming, dropped by for a friendly check-in, and even delivered half a tray of firewood (you can just grab it and pay in cash when you get there). Little things like that make the stay feel extra special.
They also gave us the heads-up about mozzies before we came, which was a lifesaver. Ended up not too bad in the end – just a few big fellas buzzing about, nothing we couldn’t handle.
We’ll 100% be back for another farm getaway soon. If you’re chasing a peaceful, private spot with top-notch hospitality, this is the one.

The camp was absolutely stunning, we camped a few weeks after rain right by the river and the river was flowing, the whole camp was amass with flowers and we were spaced enough to have our own patch of heaven.
Catherine was fabulous for communications and directions into camp. It was a great weekend, we would definitely go again

Overall the camp fires was the highlight, not much else to do, but if you like to relax and read, catch up on sleep, its great. We had young men/ teenage boys, was bored after a day of exploring. Dissapointed not to have heard more sheep/cows.

The quietness was bliss. So easy to deal with Joe and Cathie.
We were told about the mozzies, but when you get all the repellant's up and running, it wasn't so bad.

Usually I wouldn't bother doing a review however this needed to be done for the owners should consider clear the campsite and be organised. We reached there at 2.30pm didnt get to the site until nearly 4pm. We were let to 3 different check points. Its a concept of follow the leader around which is a waste of time for Campers and owners energy and so confusing!. The owners could consider signage around the land and maps so Campers can go there get their lot quicker and be organised really for it.
The camp should be well maintained. High grass were high around 30cm to 50 cm like it shouldn't be that way. To me it is unsafe because it conceals hazards like sharp objects, unstable ground, and wildlife, increasing the risk of injury when u are paying for the lot. So clear your clearing. Buy a tractor for goodness sakes. You should know better.
The owners stated very clear not to take the wood around the property which they emphasise around it and charges $50 bucks for wood more like branches that wont last 3 hours. That's a scam. No wonder people go around the property and steal the wood there.
Feedback is feedback for the owners to uplift their service. I am not being critical but if they don't look into changing their ways. I wont bother staying there.

Joe and Cathie's allotment for camping on their farm is centred along the seasonal Mortlock River that flows through the property. A mid week booking found me the sole camper for the few nights I spent at one of the many creek side allocations. The dog enjoyed herself too.
Cathie and Joe are kind and thoughtful hosts covering the most basic contingency that even the most careful packers can overlook - a box of matches. Also on offer is an honesty box inside which are small jars of Cathie's relishes and sweet spreads (some packaged in gift baskets) as well as farm honey and eggs. Available too are leashes embellished with leather cording/thonging for the discerning pet owner appreciative of something different in pet restraints.
The grain region depends on railways to ship the harvest and Joe advised that a rail track ran along the ridge up from the river. There were a few engines that passed by but none pulled rolling stock, that I could tell.
Overwhelmingly Trapwell Farm is a peaceful, pleasant and very restful place to spend a few days under the whispering she-oaks and a burbling brook (when she runs).

Huge private land for big group of camping. Quite greens，easy touch shining stars at night time. A wondeful place for peoples who really enjoy escaping from busy city lifes. Friendly host. Really enjoy that.

My son and I had a wonderful off-grid camping experience here. The hosts were warm and welcoming, yet gave us all the space and privacy we needed to truly unplug. A beautiful creek winds through the property, providing a peaceful soundtrack of flowing water. The only other sounds were the crackle of our campfire and the quiet of nature all around. A perfect spot to disconnect and enjoy some quality time together.

Camping at Trapwell farm was peaceful, we had a lovely spot by the water all to ourselves and the dog. Cathie was a great host, she even provided fresh eggs when we forgot to bring them. Clear instructions were given when arriving and our stay was enjoyable even though it rained. We will definitely be back.
