North Cascades National Park is going to make your heart pitter-patter! You’ll feel like you’re in another world when you step inside this mountainous heaven of spired peaks dotted with over 300 glaciers and beneath them, over 300 glassy alpine lakes. Ranging from a temperate rainforest in the Western area of the park to a dryer ponderosa pine forest in the East, the diverse weather, ecosystems, and wildlife will entice and delight you whether you’re a seasoned alpinist, a family of four, or just wanna nerd out on the parks geology.
The driest and most popular season at the park is is mid-June through September, but you can see snow on the peaks through July, so plan accordingly. Camping and hiking are a must with 400 miles of trails ranging from “instant gratification” to “take those extra vacation days from work.” Dive deep into this seemingly other world by arriving on foot, boat, or place to the little village of Stehekin, a quiet and restorative community that lies within the park. Stehekin itself means “the way through,” and it, along with the rest of North Cascades National Park will show you the way through to all the joy in your heart.
