Hammonasset Beach State Park boasts the reputation as Connecticut’s longest shoreline park. You have two full miles of beach to play in here. That’s a lot of sand in your pants! But trust us, the ensuing days of turning out pockets and scrubbing the grains from your hair are totally worth it. Since the boardwalk was built in 1920, people have been sunning themselves on the beach every summer.

The park campground ensures visitors will have all the time they desire to explore the extensive coastline, even if that just means getting to know a few square feet of sand very well over the course of a long weekend. Whether you’re coming down from Providence, Road Island, escaping the metropolis of New York City, or you’re a Connecticut native, how wrong can you go with a trip to the beach? Trick question—you can’t.
