I loved camping here. Cannot recommend enough. There were beautiful views all around my campsite and Clifford was extremely accommodating and friendly while still giving me space to appreciate the quiet and peacefulness while I was solo camping. I felt very safe here and had a wonderful experience. He also has a very cool moonlight market filled with any of the camping essentials you may have forgotten to bring and some neat handmade souvenirs!! The walking sticks are beautiful pieces of art, I would’ve bought one if I had space in my car for it. This place is a gem. If you’re traveling through the area, this spot is a must!

There is a reason this site is so highly rated. The host is super chill and responsive. You are able to spread out and have some space to yourself under the star filled sky between trips to the grand canyon or many other places in the area. It is quiet and everyone is respectful at this rare gem.

WOW!!!! Not only is this land absolutely perfect for a quiet, night sky FULL of the most gorgeous stars and Milky Way we had ever seen, but Clifford was the kindest, most genuine, sweetest host! We got a little lost because Waze took us in a strange direction (Google maps might be better) and Clifford was genuinely worried about us. It was such a great experience staying here and we HIGHLY suggest camping here if you can!✨

A Spark in the Dark was one of the most memorable Hipcamps we stayed at during our roadtrip in the U.S. <3 We were looking for a quiet spot to rest for the night during our drive on Route 66, and Clifford was super responsive, welcoming, and accommodating; he provided us with all the details needed for a smooth arrival, check-in and stay. The campgrounds are spacious, and the open sky is a highlight <3 We spent our evening stargazing and enjoying the beautiful Strawberry moon. We recommend 100%!

Clifford was so welcoming and had such beautiful land! The campsite was large, Clifford’s directions were clear, and he had the most fun, decked out porta potty I’ll probably ever use. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The perfect campsite right off of I-40. Such a quiet spot and perfect for one or multiple nights as the closest town is within 20 minutes. The trails (playgrounds) on property are safe and great for exploring!

Famous Easy Breezy Desert Shelter!
I really enjoyed my night at Spark in the Dark. I reserved the easy breezy shelter and it was perfect for playing guitar under the stars. Clifford is a very warm host, making me feel welcome.

My daughter and I loved the stay. This was our second visit, and just like the first the stay was perfect. This has become our favorite location for dark-sky star gazing and astrophotography. The stars are amazing here with almost no light pollution (I'm guessing Bortle 2), and the view of the sky from the Easy Breezy Shelter is horizon to horizon. The place is very safe and quiet. The porta potty is a great touch, as my daughter is not a big fan of "finding a tree" when nature calls.

Spark in the Dark was an amazing place to camp! Clifford was very respectful and communicative. Gave us an amazing heads up about directions, the weather, and his property. His campsite is very thought out and a really cool place to stay. We loved his moonlight market with goodies you may need and suggestions on where to throw your trash, it was very helpful. I appreciate you Clifford! Thanks for creating such an intentional space!

My girlfriend and I drove in and was immediately welcomed by Clifford and given an idea of where to go! We felt safe, taken care of, and the land is just gorgeous. It was Memorial Day, so we were expecting lots of noise, but the other campers respected the noise rule. It felt like an escape with plenty of space! If you’re looking for a nice spot to stay, this is a great option!

This was such a great spot for a relaxing night. So much space and he’s got the property organized very nicely. The walking/hiking trail was great for an evening and morning walk with the dogs. Would love to camp here again!

Directions were perfect to bring you straight to the gate. Property was awesome with all the little extras everywhere. Was lucky enough to have the place to myself and pick of campsites. Chose the top of the hill to watch the most amazing sunset! Enjoyed chatting with Cliff and would absolutely recommend to anyone in the area!

We had a great overnight camp here before going to the Grand Canyon for sunrise. After a 14+ hour long drive it was nice to be welcomed by Cliff when we arrived and get the rundown of the land. We were free to explore the land, there was a fun cornhole and horseshoe setup in the center of the camp as well as seating areas and fun "easter eggs" you can explore around the land. There was a good amount of trees which is pretty rare in the desert so you won't have to worry about shade. My dog was so happy to jump out of car and run around off leash when we arrived! We chose the Park & Snooze option since we had to leave before sunrise. The Park & Snooze option is closest to the porta-potty, the main gate to get into camp and across from the common area, as a result it's not very private. However, Cliff offered us a scenic camp spot which was more private as there were a few spots open and I regret not taking his offer! Overall, we enjoyed our time here and I recommend for those traveling through the area or want a fun camping experience with friends and dogs close to Ash Fork.

I thought when looking through the pictures, that this place would be a good choice while traveling through the area. But wow!! I was even more impressed in person! Only complaint is the mud, but who cares after seeing the rest of the place! Every camp site was massive and felt like there was a ton of space for privacy. The host, Clifford was so easy going that he helped cater to my weird needs/requests without hesitation. He truly shows how much he cares about the place and cares about each and every visiting camper. And let’s not forget to mention the sun set!! WOW!! Then the clear wide open skies to do the amazing star gazing!! I am truly impressed with this place and the cheap price per night should be a heck of a lot more because of how amazing this place is! I can’t wait to book another stay the next time I am passing through.

Clifford was very inviting, even cautioning me about being stuck as it had rained for days. (The road is not for the faint of heart, just take it slow). He came out to greet me in the rain, and made sure I was welcomed and taken care of. In the morning the rain had mostly passed if you go you must take a walk and meditate in the garden. I saw a mule deer and later 3 pronghorns on the way out. It was exactly the wilding I needed

This was a great camp ground. Easy to find if you read the host instructions. Lots of space and privacy and the host has a market store set up with everything you could need like fire wood, lighters, food and art work. Very friendly host.

We really enjoyed our stay at Spark in the Dark. There is a portapotti and Clifford provides supplies like firewood and fire starters. We were tenting so we had a fire in the evening and enjoyed the star filled sky. The site was quiet and peaceful. We would definitely stay again.
