This is an incredibly historic site in Santa Barbara history. 2 tribes of Chumash Indians lived here for 10,000 years. This is where Spain landed and began colonizing the area. In the 1950's and 60's, this was the site of the World's largest orchid farm. There is a book called The Royal Rancho, if you are a history buff. We are a farm on the beach just North of Santa Barbara and Goleta, Ca. You will camp in a historic, glass greenhouse with incredible ocean views. Inside is a cob pizza oven that works awesome. (Bring your own firewood),,, a place to pitch tents and tiny artistic structures to explore. You will have a private bath and shower (Primitive, no electricity, but the hot shower has the best view in the world of any shower!) Bring your own toiletries and whatnot. Private beach access from our property. We have a barnyard with a multitude of farm animals. Limited electricity in greenhouse (A couple of extension chords). If you are camping during the rain, be advised, it gets wet in the greenhouse. It's an antique after all!$200 base price is for two people. Magical and undoubtedly unique. We loved the vibe, the animals, the pizza oven, the ocean! My teenage daughters and I had a wonderful time hanging out around the fire pit in the evenings. It’s 10 minutes from town if you forget anything or want a latte, but feels a million miles away at the same time. Everything was freshly broomed-off and tidy:) The music of the wedding didn’t bother us… it was more a white noise level. But this is definitely not a private area, just a private site (no one else can camp inside the greenhouse). The wedding guests walk by the door of the greenhouse, take selfies in the hallway in front of your door, and one guest even came in the greenhouse to ask for food scraps to feed the goats. Certainly no big deal, but again, if you’re looking for true privacy, this is not the site for you (at least on a weekend). If you’re laid back and want to experience the magic… it is such an amazing spot and opportunity. Thank you, Jinger!

We loved our time on Fred and Jinger's land. It is unique, beautiful and a very special spot. We appreciated all the attention to detail and the great care they have taken to restore and preserve the land. A very restorative and relaxing place, with only the sounds of birds, morning roosters and the occasional train whistle. Pure magic!

Left my heart at this camp. It was serene, with beautiful views and quiet. Perfect getaway from the city life but close enough to shops/dining to pickup last minute things. I visited during the week (Wed-Friday), and for the most part, it was private. However, if you are hoping to have more of a "romantic" stay, I would choose elsewhere. It looks/sounds as though someone lives in one of the nearby greenhouses (right across), and we also saw several staff members throughout our stay, so it wasn't entirely private as we had hoped, considering it wasn't a weekend. Still, I will be back, and this time with my family. Suggestion- shower at night without the lights on- starry night :)

This is my third visit to Fred and Jinger’s place and I’m already scanning my calendar for #4. It’s just a beautiful and unique place that provides an A+ glamping experience. The shower that looks out across the meadow to the ocean really can’t be beat. The other half of the bathroom is on the other side of the shower and has a cold sink and a toilet. It’s surrounded by succulents and in a semi-rural area with humidity, so the door and window stay a little open. So, there’s some bugs. But hey, you’re camping. Bring some flip flops for your night trips to the bathroom and watch for snails. The beach isn’t far away. It’s beautiful and interesting and deserted. I wouldn’t swim there. Tar has been seeping out of a crack in the ocean floor for longer than I’ve been around, so bring some old shoes for a walk on the beach—don’t skip if if you can manage a fairly gentle downhill slope to the shore. We were there when a wedding took place, nearby. We could hear their music, but didn’t find it particularly bothersome—the jazz band during dinner was actually nice. The rest of the weekend we didn’t see many people. It’s a great place to recharge!

This place was pure magic! I don’t even know where to begin. Our dedicated Hipcamp greenhouse was the most dreamy space, in a setting that was so wonderfully exquisite. The Private Beach sunsets made me cry tears of joy. Sitting on a bench overlooking the ocean, we saw Orcas off the shore both nights of our stay. Our dog flew down the beach zooming back and forth until he could no more. We made pizza in the wood-fired Cob oven. We showered with sunset views. We visited with the farm animals. We strolled this miraculous property and saw greenhouses filled with such stunning lushness, and giant Banyan trees. It felt other-worldly. I have traveled many places in the world, but Private Beach Farm is at the top of my favorite places list. I hope that Fred and Jinger are willing to share this place with others for a very long time. So grateful we found this special place.

We loved staying here at Private Beach Farm with our dog. It was a truly unique and magical place. Loved camping in the greenhouse. We made pizza in the pizza oven and did our other cooking on the rocket stove. The beach was amazing too. Had so much fun exploring and our dog got to zoomie all over the beach. It's really something that you have to experience as photos and descriptions don't do it justice.

I think the property is unique, peaceful, and quiet overall. But you are dry camping with the exception of a bathroom and shower. And it’s very pricey so you have to balance privacy with anonymity. I really enjoyed the experience, enjoyed the beach and having a great fun night. Not sure if we will return.

Epic. We Loved our stay. Rustic for sure … but that is what we were hoping for. Our pups had the time of their lives playing on the huge private beach We will be back❤️ Jinger was very helpful and gave us some great stories about the local history. She also gave us a few lessons in horticulture and succulents.- she’s done a tremendous job planting absolutely beautiful gardens of succulents on the property.

This place is magical! The campsite is on a cliff over the ocean, so you have amazing views, and the sound of the waves crashing below. There are trails to explore, and you can even go down to your own private beach. The entire property is gorgeous, with views of the rolling hills. It's incredibly peaceful, and the perfect getaway!

It was incredibly calm and peaceful in the greenhouse and throughout the property. We could hear the ocean at night. It was really nice to be able to let our pups run around off-leash inside, especially in the morning so I could sleep in. Be sure to bring a towel for the shower.

What a magical experience and stay! Great for families, brought our two little ones and they loved the animals, the stars, the passing trains, and the private beach. Pizza oven was a hit! The girls loved making pizza and watching it cook. Also loved exploring the various greenhouses, we left inspired for our own home garden. Appreciated the fresh drinking water and running water for washing our dishes and showering after a day at the beach! Beautiful sunsets and moon rises. The lighting in the greenhouse at night was so cozy. Kept our food closed up in a snap lid bin (especially at night) had hungry visitors like raccoons and mice sneaking around. Overall, fantastic weekend!

Everything about this place is magical. Camping in the greenhouse was perfect for us to help contain two toddlers and a dog, as well as giving us a beautiful, private place to relax. We loved cooking with the pizza oven. Bring a cast iron skillet! It was great to be able to walk to the beach, and even have it to ourselves most of the time. We hope to be back!
