If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
The Camp - was a fun change of pace! The property was easy to find, but definitely away from everything. Has a very classic Florida feel.
It's camping in the most primitive way (which I love). They do have chairs, a hammock, and a fire pit area, however. Otherwise, you're on your own. Bring friends, food, beverages and you're all set for a fun night.
We stayed during a cold front, so it dropped down to the 40's. We're a bit bundled in the photos - but I think that also got some of the local wildlife excited. At night I passed out to the sounds of coyotes, which is an absolute thrill to me.
I wouldn't hesitate to visit again.
Fun spot to camp
This was my first time using hipcamp and Wow all I can say is that was such a great experience. This is an awesome platform especially for a spontaneous camping Adventures for those that aren't big on planning. My boyfriend and I couldn't find any campsites anywhere and then we found hipcamp and loved this area. There's even a little creek in the woods down there. We were happy to find picnic tables a fire pit chairs and Etc. It was very awesome spot and we can't wait to go back. Thank you to the host as well
Primitive camp site
as advertised, this is a primitive camp. Owner did not answer phone calls, and voice mail box was full, but she did answer ALL questions quickly on text. The site was quite remote and quiet. There were alot of things laying on the ground at the site, plastic lawn furniture, kids plastic pool, tarps, etc.. left behind from previous campers maybe? Its a beautiful piece of property otherwise, remote, quiet and exactly as described. Huge storm came through this area recently - alot of down trees, etc. - but "the camp" was working, serviceable and open for business. Thanks!
The site was ok for primitive camping. Just expect nothing. There wasn’t a toilet on site, as stated there would be. And the place they said you can bring the garbage is not there, trust me, I thought it was the big blue dumpster and I got yelled at for throwing a bag away. Between the dog across the way barking all the time and the tiny houses owner blaring his music all the time, it wasn’t as relaxing or as peaceful as expected. I also parked on site because it said that anywhere is game as far as parking... this is kind of a half truth. If you have a Vehicle that is high off the ground with solid tires, park anywhere. I have a mid size suv with all wheel drive and I had to pay $80 to get a tow truck to come get me unstuck. And while some of you may think that was drivers error, the professional tow truck driver got stuck as well. There are too many stumps, and the sand is super soft. So the steaks for the tents didn’t stay in the ground. The area would be perfect with a few adjustments. Also would have been nice if the property owner had come by at some point and introduced themselves and answered any questions we had. Overall we booked the site for 6 days and ended up leaving after 4.
Left upon arrival
We left as soon as we arrived. First, it is not private-there are run down “cabins” on the same property with junk cars, etc. Second, the ground was not cleared or even remotely flat...for driving it’s ok if you have a truck or suv. But for camping/pitching a tent-bring a rake, I guess. The “card table” advertised is, I’m assuming, the folding table that was covered in clothes, in front of one of the “cabins. It says your dog can stay (on leash), well, what does that matter if the dogs that live nearby roam freely....into the area your camping with your tied up dog?!? Another review mentioned loud music-we didn’t stay, but there was a stereo sitting on the “cabin porch,” so I’m assuming that could be accurate. I didn’t see the compost toilet that was advertised, but we weren’t impressed with anything else, so I didn’t search for it. They did have some chairs, scattered. If the host actually cleaned it up, leveled it out, had a designated fire/sitting area, signs for this toilet they speak of, and cleaned up some of the junk, it might be decent. I camped my way from NC down to key west and up to the panhandle and back....this was the only site I left without camping!
Place was trash. Got there and left. Looks like someone was living on one of the camping lots working on their cars. Too close to other homes, barking dogs, trash everywhere. It honestly just looked like an unimproved lot turn to "camping" to make money.
