This site is located behind our RV sites and offers a shady spot nestled in oak trees where you can park a van or pitch a couple of good sized tents. If you enjoy dry camping this site will accommodate a small pop-up camper. Just keep in mind there are no hook-ups and we do not have a dump station. We are just 10 miles outside of Bandera so we offer the peace & quiet of the country. We DO NOT allow guests to have visitors so if you want to share your experience with your friends or family they need to book their own site. We are a family friendly campground so if you are looking for a place to get wild and party, keep looking. If you are looking for a place to get away, relax and enjoy the river then keep reading! The site offers level ground, plenty of space, a picnic table and a fire pit so don’t forget the S’mores! You also have access to the community grill beside the observation deck. We offer river access for floating, paddling, swimming or fishing. We do not offer a boat launch so if your water toy is on a trailer leave that at home! Please note this is our least private spot and its best features are deer viewing and its proximity to the bathroom. If you are looking for a more private experience please look at our cliffside or riverside sites. Our tent sites are primitive and do not have power or water at the site. There is water in the bathhouse and a wash station next to the bathhouse with a small sink and an outlet to charge a phone. We do not have trash service so you are required to take your trash with you when you leave. This site will accommodate 6 people, 2 pets and up to 3 tents. Please don’t ask if you can bring more people or pets, the answer is no. We include 1 vehicle with the site and you may bring a 2nd vehicle for a $10 charge.
Boulderdash Cabin & RV Park is located on 4.8 acres with serene views on the Medina River. Be aware that river levels vary widely. Sometimes we have a lake, sometimes a river, and sometimes a stream. Check for recent photos on our FB page or on Google to get an idea of the river levels. Even when the river is low we have a great swimming hole so bring your chairs, hats, sunscreen and shades. Come spend a weekend or longer at our little slice of paradise. Remember to invite your friends or family to stay at one of our other 3 rustic tent sites, 3 RV sites, the cabin, or our retro RV “Stella” so they can enjoy some downtime too! Bandera is just 20 minutes away and there is always something going on. It offers some great restaurants, a museum, several shops and best of all, Cowboys! If you like to hike the Hill Country State Natural Area boasts 40 miles of trails and is just a short drive away. If you are into horses there are a few local businesses that offer horseback riding. Come on down y'all, play in the river and enjoy the views!

Had a great time! River was beautiful. Swimming was fun. Campground was peaceful, quiet and clean. Host was available for any problems, but also gave us space. Great place! Would definitely recommend.
Site was prettier than expected! The host had no problem letting us switch sites to be closer to the river. Well worth it! Facilities were clean and the amenities were convenient to have. Definitely looking forward to going back.
A little slice of hill country heav
The site was definitely what we expected, if your looking for a spot to just get away and enjoy the outdoors this is it! We were on the upper level next to the host and were able to go down closer to the river and check out the other camp spots which are a little more remote and isolated so we can't wait to try one of those spots next time. They have a really cool horse trailer that was converted to a restroom and was clean and cozy for all your hygiene necessities. Safe to say we will most definitely be back !
We had a great time! The hosts were there when we arrived to show us the way which was super helpful! The bathroom is so cute and such a nice perk. Campsite is really spacious and has a nice fire pit and a picnic table. I even saw the hosts put food out for the deer and the deer came right out, which my son loved. River is really close by and really nice. Already booking again for my son’s birthday.
Small but more than adequate.
We booked our site (Hilltop #6) as a last minute thing because our previous location canceled on us due to the current Corona virus situation. We were searching for a nice place to get away from all the craziness for a week. Boulderdash fit the bill. We originally only booked for three days but extended for another three because we enjoyed it so much. The Medina river is beautiful although it's very low this time of year. But a short ride up to Bandera and you can enjoy their city park and river as well. So all was good. We will book here again but probably go for the river side site next time. I was afraid I couldn't get into it with my truck and camping trailer. But it is very accessable. Thanks for a great get away!
Coming in from Houston on Friday evening the drive in was dark so we weren't sure what to expect. Our last minute reservation was for tent site 3 which we were told was at the top of the hill. In the dark we were guided to the spot by Paul and set up for the night. It was quiet and very peaceful. Waking up early per usual, the sun was peaking over the hill and the deer were out looking for their breakfast. It was so serene after being cooped up working at home due to Covid-19. We spent Saturday at the city park in Bandera then came back later in the evening. There seemed to be more interaction with the other guests at the observation deck but we went straight to bed. Sunday morning again brought the deer along with woodpeckers and a fox. We hung out in our campsite almost until check-out at 2. We went down to the river for a little bit and then decided to go home. We were greeted and acknowledged by our hosts and everyone was very friendly. The whole campsite was very well kept and clean. We will definitely recommend to friends and would like to return some time soon.
A relaxing stay on the medina river
The gf and I had a great time at Boulderdash even if our trip was cut short a day by some spectacular storms. I booked late and didn't get a sweet riverside campsite, but I saw them and they looked awesome. We were at #3 up the hill and it was nicely nestled in the shade of a few trees and caught cool breeze. The quaint, clean, converted small horse trailer bathroom was nearby. the park host was hospitable and not at all intrusive. The river was really low but there are some deepish spots in the area amongst the boulders to chill and enjoy a frosty beverage in. We will be back soon to stay at one of the riverside spots.
