This is our second time back at the ranch. We have been to a lot of the hip camps around San Antonio and this is our favorite one. Usually we like feeling far away from civilization so this is the perfect combination of a quick convenient weekend getaway while still being remote feeling. We still discovered new things and just spend our time exploring the ranch.

Eclipse Private Primitive Camping-2
This site was wonderful and so were the people who own the ranch. If we ever have the chance to pass through Texas Hill Country again we would definitely return to this beautiful ranch filled with wild flowers and tranquility.

Loved tent camping here my girlfriend! Very secluded for some very nice peace and quiet with the outdoors. The property is beautiful and well maintained. Theres a lot of wild life around. We saw a bunch of deer and turkey. Gretchen is a wonderful host and couldn't recommend enough!

A prettyboutique camping experience
Gretchen's land was amazing! Thank you Gretchen for sharing your beautiful land with the overlanding community! As a member of treadlightly.org, it was fun for me to actually use my Jeep Wrangler on a nice little relaxing trail leading up to the campsite. BLM land for public use in Texas is pretty much non existent so it's really a treat to see folks here on hipcamp opening up their private ranches for us to experience and explore responsibly.
Gretchen and his partner greeted me at the gate in the rainy cold weather (nice Texas weather by the way) to show me where my campsite would be. My campsite was very clean. Gretchen offered me some complementary firewood which was much appreciated as well.
The campsite I had was great for a nice little weekend getaway from San Antonio, perfect for a fun date night out in nature. I really liked how I didn't see anyone else on my trip. I like how the property does not offer a public restroom which helps make an area more quiet and feel more secluded in my opinion.
My campsite was close to a gate, and you can hear light traffic from the distance, but it's totally fine! It appeared I was the only one out here which was super nice. There's enough grass to camp out during a light rain too. This land is very beautiful and boutique. I believe this land also offers camping in cozy corner areas, and maybe in open areas too with nice views of the hill country. The wedding venue on the hilltop was very beautiful as well. My rating: 10/10.

Great stay and beautiful property. Gretchen met us at the gate and showed us to our site. She had already provided firewood but we bought and she delivered more. The property was very secluded and quiet— exactly what you want when camping. We were able to roam the property and enjoy the views. My dog especially enjoyed it!

These folks are super nice and their ranch is beautiful. It was a real privilege to camp there.
They met me at the front entrance when my eta was unclear and communication was excellent.

What a great place to stay while traveling thru Texas! We loved the campsite that has a fire ring and a small portion of fire wood provided for us. There were deer and fireflies around and a cool breeze to end a long day on the road. The host was very responsive and led us to the campsite promptly.

We had an awesome stay! Gretchen was a very welcoming and accommodating host. The property was beautiful with an amazing view up the hill of the surrounding hill country. We will absolutely be returning and don't hesitate to recommend this location for your next trip!

My stay was great. Definitely a primitive site so know what you're signing up for. If this is your niche, it's perfect. The Dunlap's were welcoming and friendly. Beautiful land. Will come back again.

We absolutely loved our stay at Gretchen and Mitch’s land. It was very primitive, the property was absolutely beautiful. The hosts had firewood provided which was amazing and so kind and they were beyond friendly. We can’t wait to bring our kiddos and dog back.
