Weekend Trip to Pine Cone Cabin

Small, cozy, and warm cabin. It snowed 2/3 days we were there, and wood stove kept us toasty! Dog’s enjoyed the little trail to the power lines in the morning. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

1 night at Total Eclipse Dome

PK was a cool host, super communicative and easy to get in touch with, and also made sure we had clear instructions for access and entry. We ended up staying in the cabin instead of the dome, but he was really accommodating and it was quaint, warm and comfortable. In the morning, PK came by and he let us know about some waterfalls and a gorge nearby that only took a short hike to get to. All in all, super host and lovely property - hoping to visit again.

Weekend Trip to Pine Cone Cabin

The cabin was a perfect retreat for my husbands birthday. Our dogs enjoyed all of the outdoor adventures and cozying up with the wood stove. There’s enough creature comforts to feel at ease while also enjoying the simplicity of being in the woods.

2 nights at Vermont Rustic Retreat

The view is beautiful! We were lucky to have arrived after a few inches of snow had fallen and it stayed on the trees the whole time we were there-it was absolutely gorgeous! We saw deer cross the road, heard owls and coyotes. Trails at the end of the road. As it states the cabin is small but Kathleen made excellent use of the space and 2 adults in there was just fine. Very cozy, more than enough wood to keep the woodstove going and have campfires. Everything you need is already provided. Was cloudy when we were there but on a clear night it would be a fantastic place to stargaze. Kathleen was a wonderful hostess. Very accommodating, very responsive and just a sweetheart all around.

Well, lemme tell ya, this here’s the view from my little ol' parking spot. We got ourselves some good ol’ electricity 'n' them fancy low voltage lights all 'round the place. Makes it real nice when the sun goes down, ya know? Perfect for a campin’ trip, if ya ask me!

Everyone would have there own site but you could all hang out together or have dinner at one site and breakfast in another. Great group overland site, Adv moto site, or group of friends in a car because it’s not far or technical from the main rd.

My friend and I had such a lovely time! Our host Ryan was beyond helpful and kind to make sure our stay went well. The site was well maintained and easy to find. We also had a great open sky to stargaze and fresh snow in the morning which made our experience so much more fun. This was my first Hipcamp experience and it was a wonderful first impression!

Weekend Trip to Rooted Acres Farm

We had such a lovely stay here! The host was incredibly responsive to all our questions, and the cabin was exactly what we were looking for. It came with a portable heater inside that kept us warm at night (just remember to turn on the gas outside first!). Without proper winter clothing, it might be a bit chilly to stay here during the colder months, but we went toward the end of October and it was still perfect! And the hot tub!! Such a clever and wonderful addition! Just a heads up: you’ll need to build a strong fire to get it hot within about 3 hours, and you’ll likely want to make two fires - one for the tub and another to sit back and enjoy. Be sure to bring lanterns, as it gets dark pretty quickly once the sun sets. Even though we had cloudy skies, we could tell that on a clear night the stargazing would be incredible. The cabin is well-equipped with dishes and running water for light cooking, brushing teeth, etc. There’s also a small convenience store about 8 minutes away on the main road. Overall, we would highly recommend this place. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be returning!

Weekend Trip to Vermont Rustic Retreat

We loved staying at Kathleen’s place! The cabin is very private, feels completely safe, and the view is fantastic. Everything was very clean and nicely organized, and the minute you arrive you have everything you need. Even though the weather was cold, we stayed cozy and warm thanks to the wood stove, which was surprisingly efficient. The kindling and firewood were fully stocked as well, making the stay easy and comfortable. A wonderful experience overall! Thank you:)

Weekend Trip to Mead Hill at Mount Cabot Maple

We stayed in the yurt for a weekend and loved it! Bed was comfy and thought the woodstove wasn't working, the space heater kept us cozy. Morgan and Rush were excellent hosts, answered all our questions graciously and made us very welcome. The woodfired hot tub was glorious. Hope we can visit again someday!

Great site with close proximity to Stowe. Seamless check-in; we just confirmed we had arrived. Host was helpful with restaurant recommendations. Others have pointed out that there are houses surrounding the site. I had read the reviews so this was no surprise. We angled our van so that we had the mountain views. I would camp here again.

Big circular drive with lots of space. I like it. Ryan was quick to respond and he checked in to make sure all was well. Little details are welcoming, like lights, toilet stall, picnic table, and fire ring. Statewide fire ban while I was there. The highway is close but the noise wasn’t too bad for me. I fly fished the river but did have to drive for public river access.

Easy Come Easy Go - right off 302 and has a circular gravel driveway easy for RV pull-in with a picnic table and fire ring. --------------------------------------------- Located in Bethlehem at the top of the White Mountains close to endless hiking and biking. Both downtown Bethlehem and Littleton are within a 15 minute drive, supplying many choices for food and shopping. Rainy and need more options? Take the beautiful 1 hour drive east on 302 to North Conway and visit the big outlet stores. If the weather is better, and you want a more scenic way there with hiking -- take the 25 minute drive down to Lincoln and travel the amazing Kancamangus Scenic Byway (Route 112). This is 35 miles through the White Mountains with no gas stations, so you might want to top off while in Lincoln. Thirty minutes east is the Mount Washington Cog Railway, and you will pass the historic Mount Washington Hotel on the way. Fifteen minutes south and you can be at Franconia Notch State Park.

Bug spray is recommended. Although black bears are generally shy and usually avoid humans, they are opportunistic and will search for human food supplies when natural foods are not available. Maintaining a sustainable bear population in New Hampshire depends on minimizing human-bear conflicts. It is illegal to intentionally feed bears in New Hampshire. Intentional feeding can create problems within residential areas and can result in fines. It also may threaten the life of the bear, if it becomes a nuisance animal as a result of this feeding. Please keep your food in your car when you are not at the site and when you are sleeping. The property has views of Mount Martha and the Presidential Mountain Range. There are easy walking trails throughout the property. There is a field to play games; Soccer, wiffle ball, corn hole and yard croquet can be used. About

Situated on the shores of both Spectacle and Island Pond in Vermont’s northeastern highlands, Brighton State Park is one of the state’s most remote and wild state parks. The dense forests in this corner of Vermont provides the perfect habitat for moose, bears, coyotes, and hundreds of songbirds. Hiking, paddling, fishing, and swimming are popular activities in the park and the campground at Brighton State Park offers 54 campsites, 23 lean-to shelters, and five cabin rentals. The park also features two swimming beaches, a nature center, playground area, and boat rentals.

Tips for snagging a campsite

Reservations are strongly recommended, especially during the summer months and on weekends. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance online or over the phone.
Brighton State Park does not have any designated first-come, first-served campsites, but campers are welcome to stay in the campground without reservations, space permitting.
Same day reservations can only be made by contacting the park directly.
The five waterfront cabins can be reserved up to eleven months in advance. Book early, cabin rentals fill quickly.

When to go

The Brighton State Park Campground is open Memorial Day weekend through Indigenous Peoples' Day, the second Monday in October. The park remains open the rest of the year but access and services are limited. Thanks to its remoteness, Brighton State Park does not get as busy as other Vermont State Parks. Campsites are often available in summer, even without a reservation. July and August are the best times for swimming and boating and fall colors often peak in late September.

Know before you go

Campsites include fire rings, picnic tables, and access to flush toilets, coin-operated showers, and a dump station. There are no hookups.
Kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards are available to rent at the campers’ beach.
The park’s interpretive center offers nature crafts, night hikes, and campfire programs.
Dogs are not allowed on beaches, designated swimming areas, in day use areas, or in most cabins. Dogs are allowed elsewhere in the park.

Brighton Campground

Editing this post: Brighton State Park has 84 sites, 5 of those are cabins that have electricity. 26 sites are lean tos. Most sites accommodate up to 8 people. However, only 2 vehicles per site. There’s no hookups or WiFi and that’s what makes it a great place to get away from it all!

Brighton State Park is a hidden jewel in the northeast kingdom of Vermont. The perfect place for a relaxing getaway. A peaceful place to spend time in nature, whether you’re hiking the shore trail on Spectacle Pond, kayaking, fishing or watching the lions. It’s a magical place to camp!

Brighton Campground

It's a beautiful, out of the way State Park! We biked around Island Pond, and swam, boated in Spectacle Pond. Will go back some day!
