Welcome to the most unique and varied glacial land and waterscapes on private land in Vermont. Pristine forest trails along babbling brook with rockslides and waterfalls. Magical Pine Forest. Magnificent, expansive views of Willoughby Lake from large field in this exquisite private, gated compound. Forest, (Shinrin-yoku), brook, and sunbathing all in one quiet paradise. 10 minute walk to Willoughby Lake, and the only General Store for miles. Wildlife watch or fish in pristine brooks.

Waterfall Meditation

Hike 15 minutes from your vehicle to Waterfall meditation camp. Meditation benches and a firepit overlook a babbling brook with a 12 foot waterfall. There is a steep ridge here, so this site is not suitable for small children. Gaze over the canopy, smell and hear the sounds of a lush forest brook. At times it's a special treat to hear the call of Loons as they fly up the waterway for a snack. Take a 10 minute hike, and picnic in a beautiful field with ancient apple trees overlooking Lake Willoughby. You may see the nesting Meadowhawk, Bald Eagles, and Vultures in the field. This pristine forest site, (Shinrin-yoku worthy), in a gated compound is quiet, private, and magical. Perfect spot for the foraging enthusiast. Ramps, mushrooms and other magical flora and fauna.

Such a lovely spot! Complete with apple trees and friendly horses. Liz was wonderful as per all the other reviews! Tip - make sure you note the directions carefully ;)

This was a great place to spend the night before getting out on the lake the next day. The waterfall was beautiful and it was lovely to fall asleep to the sound of the stream. Would stay here again.

We had such a wonderful time at Elizabeth's HipCamp and can’t recommend it enough. One of the highlights for us was definitely the horses — they were so friendly and added a really special touch to the whole experience. The location itself was absolutely stunning, especially the area around the waterfall. It was the perfect spot for swimming and fishing, and we spent time there just relaxing and soaking it all in. The site was incredibly peaceful and secluded, which was exactly what we were looking for. It felt like our own little retreat away from everything. We also really appreciated the thoughtful touches — the gift bag and firewood waiting for us when we arrived made us feel so welcomed right off the bat. Communication after check-in was great as well. Elizabeth provided us with places to eat and check out around the area and even offered to let us use the shower in the cabin if needed! If we had to suggest one improvement, it would be having clearer directions on Elizabeth's HipCamp listing or at the entrance gate. We were a bit unsure at first about where the site and parking areas were located, but once we got in touch with Elizabeth, everything else was smooth sailing. All in all, a truly memorable camping experience — peaceful, beautiful, and thoughtfully hosted. We’ll definitely be back!

This site was amazing. The stars were crazy the night we went and there’s a waterfall that runs year round right next to where we camped. I highly recommend this site

The location is fantastic! Lots of land to roam around on and not too far from the lake or lake store. It was a great stay and we would definitely stay again!

We absolutely loved our visit to Brookside Trail Camp! Elizabeth is a warm and welcoming host, and being next to the waterfall was pure magic. The site was incredibly private, with trails all through the woods. We loved spending time tucked into the woods near the water, and making frequent walks to the nearby field with a view for picnics, sunset, and stargazing. I look forward to visiting again!
