River View is located in Glenada. No bathroom or running water, but there are 2 electrical plugs (110V and 220V) available at the pole. We have a free-range farm atmosphere, with 2 kids, 2 large dogs, 2 cats, and 12 chickens. We allow Hip Campers to bring animals on the property with the understanding that they are not allowed in the tiny house and that they are good around children and other animals, as our kids and pets are often running around the land. We have firewood and fresh eggs for additional fees. THERE IS NO TOILET on the property. This is not a tent camping site unless you bring your own portable toilet set up. No smoking in the Tiny House. This rustic property is close enough to Hwy 101 and downtown to be convenient, but far enough away to enjoy all the wildlife the Siuslaw River has to offer. Bird watching at its finest! Not to mention the view of Old Town! This little slice of rugged heaven is just above the Siuslaw River and right off of Hwy 101. There is a steep gravel driveway, but once at the top, it is flat, and the view is pretty amazing. From camp, you can see Old Town. Gaze down at the Siuslaw River and all the wildlife that comes with it! We regularly see deer, red-tailed hawks, ospreys, and bald eagles. We have also had a bear that passes through, so beware of leaving food out. There are plenty of places to hike and visit nearby dunes, rivers, lakes, parks, and the ocean. Enjoy Florence's amazing food (ask the host for her favorites). It is quite an "up and down" walk to Old Town for dinner, or you can bring back take-out and eat it in the tiny house (no electricity or running water). Take a short walk to Prichard State Park for clamming or just relax with a book and feel the breeze off the river.  Whatever you enjoy, we’re sure you can find something close by!

Welcome to the river! This beautiful 10 acre property is located on the scenic main Umpqua River. Enjoy excellent, year-round fishing, kayaking, and swimming right from your private and secluded campsite. Our property is located between 2 boat ramps which makes kayak, canoe, or raft floats a breeze. The property features beautiful, mature trees, fun bedrock to explore, and an amazing swimming hole (in the summertime when the river level is low enough). Sit at the river’s edge and enjoy the sounds of the water. Be sure to watch for soaring Eagles, jumping fish, and the occasional mink on the opposite river's edge! There are multiple wineries nearby and lots of hiking trails within a short drive. There is no cell service at the property - please plan ahead and check local burn ban policies before you go. The "owners area" camping spot is a large, graveled, gated area that has trees between the road and parking. There is a port-a-potty for use in the summer months (Mid April through Labor Day Weekend - please message us for exact dates if you need it and are booking outside this window). There is also a fire pit on the lower level overlooking the river, a hidden tree swing, and deck with picnic table. PLEASE NOTE: This is not a fully manicured campground. There are bushes and grasses that grow year round. We do our best to keep things trimmed and accessible. Sometimes (especially in the spring) things grow more quickly than we can get to them. Please don't expect this to be a perfectly mowed, backyard-type site.

I had an amazing stay at this cozy yurt near Coos Bay, Oregon. The property itself is stunning—set on a vast stretch of woodland that is even part of a golf course, it felt like a peaceful retreat tucked away in nature. The yurt was warm, inviting, and the skylight made it extra special. Hearing the nearby stream in the evening and waking up to soft natural light were some of my favorite things about the yurt stay. The owners were incredibly kind and welcoming. They went above and beyond to make my stay memorable, even taking the time to show me where to find edible mushrooms on the property. It’s clear they genuinely enjoy sharing their land and encouraging guests to explore and connect with the outdoors. The sauna and outdoor-style shower added to the rustic, nature-inspired experience—simple, refreshing, and perfectly in tune with the setting. Overall, this stay was peaceful, unique, and full of thoughtful touches. As a solo female I felt incredibly safe and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, nature-focused getaway. 🌿

Absolutely stunning ocean front property and cozy bungalow equipped with small kitchenette, couch and cute rustic decor. The kitchenette had a coffee maker, electric kettle, microwave and mini fridge as well as necessary cutlery. The composting toilet was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. For being right on the cliffside, the bungalow was very dry inside and not a bit moist or musty like most coastal houses can be. The path to the beach is very steep but well maintained. Morning coffee on the beach is a must! Beach is low tide access only. My little dog was the happiest I’ve ever seen her. She was elated, running circles on the luscious property and scaling the rocks on the beach. 10/10 would love to stay again!

Tim's place was absolutely amazing, the endless possibilities and beautiful sounds and views 😍 we will be back. The sites where way bigger than we expected, we had plenty of room for all of us. It was so nice. We could hear the Elk and sea lions all night and the morning before we left we seen some whales just a couple of minutes down the road. It was an experience.

The spot was easy to find. The view is really nice. We booked for only one night as we were just looking for a safe night to sleep while fishing the Siuslaw. We sat up our sleeping mats and blankets and slept inside the little tiny building in the property. We brought our own bathroom set up. It worked out really nice for what we needed. Welcome to Sunset Bay Meadows! We have several tent/RV sites, a yurt, and one group camping site. Once a dairy farm and part of the old Simpson estate our property offers mushroom picking seasonally whey you may find Chanterelle & Hedgehog mushrooms. We're close to the beach and the Sunset Bay Golf Course is on the same property. Lots of hiking trails and you can connect with Sunset Bay State Park our neighbor. We have a private, secluded campground that is wind sheltered with approximately 20 acres of space in which to use our covered table, picnic tables, fire pit, fire rings at individual campsites, BBQ, sauna and outdoor propane-fired shower. The camp area is tucked away among large spruce trees and open meadows which lead to endless trails on the property, with the option to buy a round of golf at Sunset Bay Golf Course, which is right next door to the camp area. We’re just short of a mile from Sunset Bay, where you will find kayaking, fishing and a great spot for kids. The Whiskey Run mountain bike trails are a short drive away and are truly world-class trails. The Sunset Bay State Park has a huge trail network that spans the cliff line all the way from Sunset Bay to Cape Arago. Chuck’s Seafood in Charleston is a great spot to pick up local seafood. BBQ some oysters on the grill or pick up some fresh fish and enjoy the bounty of the coast. Charleston, just 3.5 miles away, also has some great restaurants and local shops to truly make your stay memorable. Only friendly dogs allowed and leashed or under voice command.

Grassy mowed area along the Sixes River on our cattle ranch and cranberry farm. We provide an outdoor shower and composting toilet shared by the 5 camp sites. The shower water is filtered water from a shallow well, but bring water to drink. This campsite lies about 1 mile from the pacific ocean at about 15 feet elevation so it will be cooler than inland camp sites. I believe we are the closest camping to the south side of the Blacklock Hiking Trails. Also next to the Cape Blanco State Airport. (call if you want to fly in and get transport to and from the campsite). Access Road is a single lane in and out (gravel, dirt, and grass). Any towed trailers need to be pulled by a 4-wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicle to climb back out (in and out procedures for trailers will be provided) Bring a fishing pole or a kayak. Sea-run trout are in the river during the summer (no motorized vehicles allowed in the Sixes River by law. No motorized vehicles in campsite besides automobiles by rule.) - Please be accurate with the number of guests in your party. Please note about lack of signage: The "walters landing" and "92220" on airport road are the only markings to indicate our entrance. We don't want to put any "campground" signs to avoid curious trespassers into the property (we only want invited guests). Campsite Rules: 1. Enjoy. 2. No motorized vehicles besides your auto. 3. Make sure your fun doesn't detract from the fun had by other campers. 4. No illegal activity. 5. Clean up after your pet in the camp and river bank area or anywhere people will be walking or playing. 6. No unfriendly pets, even if they are on a leash. Must be safe with other children and pets and livestock.

The best camping in Sunset Bay State Park, OR guide

Overview

About

On the edge of the Pacifc Ocean, a short drive from Coos Bay, Sunset Bay State Park offers easy access to Sunset Beach, plus hiking trail access to two day-use state parks nearby: Shore Acres State Park and Cape Arago State Park. The mid-sized Sunset Bay Campground features a mix of yurts, tent sites, and RV sites, plus hot showers and flush toilets. Group sites are also available for large parties, as is an interpretive program offering guided educational experiences such as tide pool viewing and nature walks.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Campsites and yurt reservations are available as early as six months in advance up until one day in advance. Reserve your spot online or over the phone through Oregon State Parks.
  2. If you're looking to reserve a specific site, a cabin, or a group site, you can search for the next available date or create an email alert to be notified when spots open up. 
  3. Same-day campsites are sometimes available in person due to last-minute cancellations. Your chances of securing one of these sites increase the earlier you arrive.

When to go

Sunset Bay State Park is open for day use and camping throughout the year, but things can get pretty cold and chilly outside of the summer months. July and August are particularly crowded, but once kids go back to school in September, things tend to calm down. If interested in whale-watching, consider visiting during one of the two migration seasons: December and January or April and May.

Know before you go

  • The best place to pick up groceries and supplies is Coos Bay, a 20-minute drive away.
  • Pets are welcome in the campground, and four pet-friendly yurts are available.
  • The Cape Arago group camp is a three-mile drive from the main campground, while the Norton Gulch group camp is a short walk away.
  • Due to wildfire risks, campfires and even propane and gas stoves may be prohibited in summer or early fall.

Clean peaceful only draw back is, I atleast had no cell service. Reasonably priced I guess for the time. A little less than others in the area. 4☆ would be 5 with cell service.

Report from your Shirtless Host on Whale watching at the cape Iam the Host at Sunset Bay S.P. and I have been enjoying Whale watching now for about 3 weeks now. Now is a good time for Whale watching the weather is getting better (. Not good but better ) I have seen about 100 whales in the past month or so. The bad weather has kept them off shore aways but you can still see them off shore. As the weather starts to break the whales are getting closer to shore. There heading South to give Birth then back to Alaska. So if you miss them going you can catch them coming back . Hope to see you at Sunset Bay S.P. Coos Bay Oregan. Shirtless host Steve!!

Report from your shirtless host on Holiday lights at Shore Acres S.P. I just got back from the lights watch runs from Thanksgiving to New Years Eve. The lights started back in 1987 by the friends of Shore Acres. They decided to string a few lights that year about 6000 total. Now it is up to over 400000 lights. 26 large Christmas trees at least 15 to 20 large landscapes lights. Dozens of small L.S. light. The moving light were awesome to see. They get 40 to 50000+ visitors a year each season. They come from every State and other countries. Enjoy refreshments in the garden house. It takes about 1500 volunteers they start decorations in min Oct. It takes 6 weeks to get done. Thanks you friends of Shore Acres and Volunteers Shirtless Steve

Report from your shirtless host on Sunset Bay State Park. Oregan This is one of many State Parks that you must stay at on the Oregon Coast. It is about 11 miles off Hwy 101 in Coos Bay. The park has 29 full hook ups,,. 34 Elec. And water, 66 tent sites and of course 8 Yurts. The 4 loops have something for every type of camping. Clean Bathrooms and Showers. In each loop. In the D loop showers you have to turn two of them on to get hot water. Hike and bike in on the back side of loop C. The day use has hoop and volleyball courts Large picnicking area next to the Bay. The Hiking trails are along the coast line and one goes all the way to Shore Acres which I will tell you about later. The Hosts are great . Shirtless host Steve hi

Sunset Bay Campground
Gorgeous campground. Three loops with bathrooms in the center. One has showers, all great quality. The roads are paved and very smooth. Campground has quite hours that seem to be taken very seriously - it was eerily quiet at 9pm which was nice, except for being worried that our kids might be too loud if they didn't fall asleep! Fire ring and picnic table at each site. Yurts available as well. A wonderful flower garden and lighthouse are nearby as well as the Sunset Bay beach. The plant life makes it feel very tropical and unique.
