My wife and I stayed at Indian Creek for 5 nights. It was absolutely perfect. If you like having a camp to yourself, enjoy sitting on the side of the river, viewing wildlife, and swimming, this spot is the one for you. The river is perfect for kids. There’s a long stretch of shallow slow moving water that leads into a deep swim hole. Best of both worlds.
Miranda and Jeremy were great hosts. We had access to the facilities at the RV park just up the road (water, WiFi, bathrooms, and showers, etc)
Prepare for wind. The coastal winds turn on in the morning and generally go through sunset.
A wonderful quiet spot by the river. The water was clear and nice for swimming. I saw frogs, salamanders, fish, otter, deer, and many birds. A great place to peacefully enjoy nature and give yourself over to it. Would love to come back here!

Dont miss this HipCamp! And dont forget your floatie!! Exceeds description. Miranda's field and the chrystal clear, secluded, Elk River Beach are private access at its natural best. A perfect place to beat the heat. We enjoyed curious cow visitors and picked a bucket full of big fatty blackberries! Side note: we did not use them but included with our stay was access to the Miranda's Family RV park for showers and other amenities a very short distance up the road. Miranda even had a couple of bicycles at the campsite for campers to use. Cant wait to return!
Private swimming hole amongst cows and starry sky.
We've camped here a few times in the past and enjoyed coming back once again. A great spot with plenty of room for the dogs to explore
We had a wonderful time on this private creek side spot! We had the whole strip to ourselves and our pups. They loved the freedom of being off leash! We had tranquil sounds of many birds, cows mooing here or there and saw frogs & salamanders. Just the nature recharge we were craving.
Miranda and her husband met us upon arrival to make sure we had everything we needed and escorted us to the spot. Back at the RV park we had access to a clean bathroom, shower, club house with lots of amenities and even coin operated laundry. A little drive down the road but really nice to have access to it.
Super close to many hike trails and beautiful southern Oregon coast beaches. We love this area!
Coot creek campsite is right next to the road & not easily walked to from the river for older dogs. The site does not fit a sprinter van or anything over 7' tall at the entry. Mirandas father generously offered us a gravel bar next to the RV park which was awesome.

This location on the Elk river is beautiful, very private and peaceful. It was quite windy during our stay, so being able to hang out by the river, which is sheltered, was wonderful. There are bikes to use, which is a thoughtful touch. There are great swimming holes in the river, and our blue heeler absolutely loved being able to swim to her heart's content! The site is a short distance from Port Orford and provides easy access to the surrounding area.
We were self-contained, which would be my preference if camping here, so you do not have to drive to the RV park to use their facilities. Only small rigs should attempt to navigate the path to the river for camping, so assume you will be camping in the mowed pasture.
Read the fine print carefully. The RV park with restrooms and showers IS 1/2 mile down the road. You DO have to go through cattle gates to access the site. Two gates must be kept closed, and the one by the river is not easy to open and close. There ARE cows around to be aware of.

This is an amazing, isolated spot on a lovely stretch of river. Great swimming hole. You can hear the ocean at night, as well as coyotes. Feels like another world. Can hike the property and they provide bikes to get to the showers. We really enjoyed our stay.
The site was beautiful and secluded, but with easy access to Port Orford. Great swimming hole with lots of skipping rocks.

Beautiful, private spot. Super windy! The cows definitely came to pay a few visits but minded their own business. Our pups loved the river.
This site was so serene. Absolutely beautiful private bend of the gorgeous Elk River. Clear views of the Milky Way if you catch a clear night. Most friendly cows. Easy to get to, helpful directions and hosts. Hopefully will be back! 10/10
It is a lovely, private spot. There's a big swimming hole right by the campsite. Miranda was very kind and showing us the way.

Peaceful, private, and beautiful. We loved our stay at the river. Be aware the cows are very curious and you will get visits. But if you want a river spot to yourself, this is a great stop! Miranda was a great host too!

We had a great stay! Super quiet and private and easy to get to. The creek was awesome and our dog had a blast. The whole place felt really relaxing and well kept. We’ll definitely come back!
Wow what a special place. So peaceful and truly private (which is huge when traveling with two dogs that will bark at anything). It was such a sweet oasis. I will say that if you input the coordinates into google maps it will take you across the river. My mistake for not listening to the clear directions Miranda gave. I did get woken up pretty early by the cows and bulls mooing and screaming haha but it’s a small price to pay for the beauty of the spot. I haven’t been able to find another camp spot that comes close to this one. I highly recommend if you don’t like campgrounds.

Really relaxing spot. Getting through the three gates is a process but worth it in the end. Host didn’t respond to messages when I arrived to find the gates locked but a very nice woman at the RV park was able to help.
I like dispersed camping. Not a fan of RV parks or state campgrounds. This was perfect. Close to Cape Blanco and Port Orford. Quiet at night. Right by the Elk River. Watched birds and enjoyed seeing the cows. Note: there is no shade. For us not a big deal because it wasn’t super hot. Great host. Highly recommend.

A really nice spot with wide open spaces. Limited shade and protection from the wind but not a problem. This was our third visit and will return.
We loved camping here! It was so peaceful and quiet with complete privacy on the river. We'll be back! Highly recommended.

Great for people with dogs. Swimming in the river is amazing. Wide open space with great star-gazing at night. It can get quite windy and there is no shade. Working cattle pasture, so don’t be surprised to meet cute and timid cows.

Beautiful camp spot! We loved having a secluded area all to ourselves. The kids played in the river all afternoon and had the best time. The camp hosts were also kind and helpful. The RV park nearby was useful for bathrooms and showers, but do know that it is a short (5 min?) drive away. Overall a wonderful experience!
This was my first time using hipcamp so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The site itself was OK, a mostly flat mowed area of cow pasture right next to the elk River close to 101. There was no shade and no wind break and it did get very dry and dusty. The section of river we had to swim in was very clean and cool and lovely for the kids. It says $55 a night. I now understand that as you add people onto reservations, the price goes up. We were a group of three families and the final cost was a whopping $210 a night. i’m sorry, but that is very overpriced for a mowed section of cow pasture next to a river. No facilities at the site. Nowhere to dump trash. You were able to use the bathrooms and shower at the elk Creek campground nearby. The shower I had there was one of the best I have ever had in my life.
I suppose what you are getting for that price is camping next to a river and PRIVACY. However, we did not have privacy. We were encouraged to leave the gates open. One of the nights some van lifers followed us in, parked 50 yards away from us on the river and spent the night. It made several people in our group very uncomfortable. I did reach out to the host to see if the cost could be adjusted based on this issue and I never heard back. Also note that if you have people in your group arriving at different times this place is impossible to find and GPS does not guide you there. There is no cell signal so have a rendezvous set ahead of time to guide everyone in.
Miranda was a great host and her place exceeded our expectations! My wife and I full time and have stood at many Hipcamps and this place goes down as one of our favorites.
We have a 36ft Travel trailer and had no problems getting to the site. The road to the site is a bit bumpy but just take it slow. We were easily able to make a u turn once at the site and positioned our RV about 50ft from the water.
It wasn’t too warm and a bit windy while we were there but that didn’t stop us from getting into the water. We even Kayaked a bit up and down the river. It was so peaceful hearing all the birds.
If you’re in the area, I wouldn’t pass this place up, very few hipcamps are this good and you get to enjoy it all by yourself.

Such a beautiful place to be, stunning spot along the elk river, good swimming spot if you’re up for it, stargazing was amazing too! The wind can get pretty intense out there. Overall it was just what I was looking for as a place to be at peace and play in nature :)
Beautiful secluded spot just off the 101 with plenty of room to camp. Swimming in the creek and watching the sunset over the hills was the highlight of our road trip up the coast from SF to Portland for sure. A little breezy and chilly at times, but definitely looking forward to returning in the warmer part of the summer - highly recommend!
