40 ft truck camper · With pets · This location on the Elk river is beautiful, very private and peaceful. It was quite windy during our stay, so being able to hang out by the river, which is sheltered, was wonderful. There are bikes to use, which is a thoughtful touch. There are great swimming holes in the river, and our blue heeler absolutely loved being able to swim to her heart's content! The site is a short distance from Port Orford and provides easy access to the surrounding area.
We were self-contained, which would be my preference if camping here, so you do not have to drive to the RV park to use their facilities. Only small rigs should attempt to navigate the path to the river for camping, so assume you will be camping in the mowed pasture.
Read the fine print carefully. The RV park with restrooms and showers IS 1/2 mile down the road. You DO have to go through cattle gates to access the site. Two gates must be kept closed, and the one by the river is not easy to open and close. There ARE cows around to be aware of.
