Weekend Trip to Sacred Nectar Sanctuary

Nick's whimsical land was the perfect location for a group of old friends getting together with our young kids to share in our love of camping with them. With numerous well-maintained tent spots, we were able to fit a large group without feeling like we were all on top of each other. The site felt private and secluded with almost no evidence of other campers nearby. The amenities, including the "Poophouse", are top notch. We had an intense storm on Friday night which got a few of us wet but in general the water drained well from the site and didn't pool around our tents.

My son and I loved this unique glamping experience! Everyone was so kind and welcoming, and we even met someone who is also from Maryland, like us! We especially loved the hammock by the water and the cats. Such a beautiful, peaceful space. Thank you for sharing with us!

We had a nice 2 night stay in the area. Check in was very easy and got a brief tour of the area before settling into our car camping spot. (If car camping, take it slow on the hill as there are a few dips that may scratch). All in all, nice stay and would come back! Thank you for having ua!

We had a great time on Jon & Ann's site - the facilities were clean and functional, the wifi is strong, the area is quiet, safe and pleasant to stay in, it's an easy 20-minute drive to Montpelier and we even got some good birding advice! The swimming pond is about a 30-minute walk away and there's also good kayaking spot right next to the site. Recommended!

Beautiful spot on the Saco! Short walk back to the river from the parking and good wayfinding/lighting (we arrived after dark). The tent sites are pretty close together but it was peaceful and quiet. We loved going for a morning dip in one of the communal swim spots.

As a mountain biking fanatic, I was blown away by how ideal this location is—smack in the middle of the trails, letting us hop on our bikes and dive into the singletracks without missing a beat. The forested surroundings, mountain views, and the constant hum of wildlife—birds, deer, and even a curious fox—kept the place feeling alive and immersive, making every moment a true outdoor adventure. Your setup was fantastic: the campsite was spotless, well-kept, and had everything we needed, from a great fire pit to a perfect spot for our tent. The bike washing station was a super nice touch, making it easy to clean our gear after a muddy day on the trails—such a thoughtful addition for riders! The fresh eggs from your farm were an absolute highlight, totally worth the extra few dollars for that farm-fresh taste at breakfast. Your directions to nearby trailheads and local spots for food and supplies were spot-on, showing how much heart you’ve put into making this a stellar spot for campers and bikers, unless you’re into glamping, which looked absolutely amazing! Betsey's camp site was perfect for my solo personal retreat. It was restful to come to a beautiful campsite that was already set up for sleeping and eating - laying in a hammock, or sitting by a fire! The other campsites nearby made it feel like a small campground. It was quiet and peaceful. Nearby activities which I enjoyed: hiking Mt. Pisgah, swimming in Lake Willoughby, biking Kingdom trails.

Jon & Ann's property didn't disappoint. Was a little hard to tell what we were coming to for the first time based on pics but it was perfect. Enough partial shade with a level pad for our 24' trailer....and the bath house was just perfect and well maintained. The wifi was super strong and reliable ta boot! Jon's a heck of a fellow and we got to swap great experiences with him while we were there.

Betsy was an amazing host. Everything was thought through, very clean and comfortable mattress and great lighting. She even put hot water in the shower basin in the afternoon so it was a perfect temp when you needed it after biking. They have built some fun jumps on the land which was entertaining for my kids. We really appreciated being able to bring our dog.

Betsey has created the most beautiful sanctuary space on her property with Green Mountain Glamping. The Pine Haven canvas tent was perfect for my family of four! The tent was so cozy and comfortable and we all slept so well! A major bonus was the hammock. We didn't have room in our car for all of our camping gear along with our bikes, so Pine Haven was just the answer. I so appreciated the French press to make coffee along with all the necessary dishes. We highly recommend Betsey and Green Mt Glamping!

Simply the best tenting you can find in the White Mountains. The campground to get away from campgrounds, where magic touches every corner. Sacred Nectar rests on the land of the Wabanaki Tribes. This land, now known by it's view gifting fields, is one of Sandwich's top treasured gems. The Historic Farm was purchased by Townsend Thorndike from the first colonizing family to claim ownership of this unceded land, the McCrillis family. It was Town's place to get away from the busy life. As time went on and his money dwindled and plans to sell off some of the land arose. Townsend's son, Nick, foresaw a devastating development of conventional homes that would diminish the soul of this sacred land that held so much magic. So, Nick decided to move back to the homestead to create an example of what a healthy life for the land and its inhabitants looks like. HipCamp was the first step towards sharing and opening up the land to create an Intentional lifestyle. One in which we hope to share our way of being that brings awareness to the natural world we have fallen so far from. Nick and his tribe of like minds are creating a holistic, educational, retreat, workshop, and event center where people can come to learn how to co-exist in a harmonious relationship with nature and each other. Green Mountain Glamping

Experience all that the northeast kingdom of Vermont has to offer while staying at Green Mountain Glamping. Ride the Kingdom Trails right from the property! Nestled among the trees, our bell tent sites feature comfortable beds, pillows, linens, towels, a picnic table, smokeless fire pit, large ADA portapotty and more! We also have two sites for those that want to bring their own tent, camper or RV. New for 2025 is an outdoor shower! These are private sites on our property. You'll drive past our home, garage, and garden to get to each site and you'll be able to see our buildings from the sites. We have a very large English Mastiff and some hens. Both are contained in our fenced in yard. Eggs can be purchased upon request. We also have a some dirt jumps if you need to get warmed up before your ride, and a simple bike wash station ready to go when you get back. Lots of wildlife inhabit our area of Vermont. During your stay you're likely to see whitetail deer, squirrels and chippies, rabbits, and hawks. There's a chance you may see a fox, black bear, moose or even a bobcat! We ask that food is secured in your vehicle and not brought into the bell tents, for your own safety. We do have a basket of safety equipment in each tent. The basket contains bug spray, bear horn, simple first-aid kit, fire extinguisher, and a flash light.

Free Verse Farm

Our farm & campground features stunning, panoramic views of the First Branch of the White River in the verdant hills of central Vermont. It overlooks the village of Chelsea, the shire town of Orange County. Free Verse Farm is a hilltop herb farm run by two art-making, herb-loving farmers. The property boasts twenty sloping, knoll-laden, open acres overlooking the First Branch of the White River as it passes through the scenic village of Chelsea, Vermont. We have incredible views, forest trails that offer magical woodland wanderings, and spacious campsites in our fields. We also invite you to explore our cultivated fields of herbs and vegetables and become acquainted with the wide variety of tea, culinary, and medicinal herbs that we grow and process on our farm. You can also visit with the cows that spend their summer munching our delicious green pastures. Our full line of herbs and herbal products are for sale via our website or at Free Verse Farm Shop, located just one mile from our farm in downtown Chelsea. Our Farm Shop offers a wide variety of fresh produce, provisions, fresh baked goods, alcoholic (& non-) beverages, and more to enjoy during your stay or as you continue on your journey. AMENITIES: we offer a hot outdoor shower & sink, as well as an outhouse with a composting toilet. Each campsite has a firepit and a picnic table. CAMPSITE DETAILS: We currently have 2 campsites open. The village of Chelsea hosts a weekly summer farmers market May-September on Fridays from 3-6pm (mid-May through September). In downtown Chelsea there is also a pub (The Wagon Wheel), gas station (110 Quickstop), two town commons, a small library, and a general store (Will's Store), and a farm stand (Chicken Wiggle Farm). Within 20-45 minutes of our farm you can reach the larger towns of Montpelier (state capital), South Royalton, Randolph, Woodstock, White River Junction, and the Upper Valley Region (Dartmouth College), all of which offer a wide variety of attractions and services. In the heart of the White Mountain National Forest, Franconia Notch is the perfect setting for adventure. Jump in Echo Lake, climb the stone cliffs, or mountain bike along the Recreational Trail. The park’s 10 hiking trails include a section of the Appalachian Trail, as well as the otherworldly Flume Gorge path. If you prefer to check out the scenery from the comfort of your car, you can drive on the I-93 between the high peaks of the Kinsman and Franconia mountain ranges then hop on the Cannon Mountain tram for an elevated view. The forested Lafayette Place Campground has 97 tent sites, while Cannon Mountain has seven sites for RVs with hookups.

Tips for snagging a campsite

Of Lafayette’s 97 sites, 88 are by reservation only and seven are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Reservations are not required for the RV campground but are highly encouraged, especially in summer.
Bookings can easily be secured online or by phone, up to 11 months in advance.

When to go

As the most popular activities in the park are swimming, paddling and fishing in Echo Lake, summer is the busiest season. There’s plenty to do year-round, however. Hiking and biking are excellent during the cooler months of spring and fall, while winter offers the chance to snowshoe on multi-use trails and ski in the park's Cannon Mountain Ski Area.

Know before you go

During the off-season, between mid-October through May, only electricity is available so RVs need to be self-contained.
Bike rentals are available from Sport Thoma in Lincoln. Shuttle service to Franconia Notch is available.
Pets are permitted in the designated dog walks near the Tramway and Flume parking lots only, not in the campground.

HUGE campground but the only one that is at the trailhead for the fantastic Franconia Ridge loop so its worth it. Hit the trailhead early and you will be back in camp while everyone is still on the trail which makes it perfect for a mid afternoon snoozer. Showers are incredibly nice, fifty cents for 4 minutes.

Best place to go if you are not familiar with the area or don't want to drive far as there are many trails that start at the campground, from mountains to bike trails to leisure trails. I have been coming here since I was little and have never had a bad experience.
