Nearby parks and refuges include Sebastian Inlet State Park, where you can fish or surf, St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park, where there are 60 miles of trails and Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge, home to the first NWR in the US.  Vero Beach is about 15 miles South and Melbourne is about 20 miles North.

Great views of rocket launches, just a few miles from Publix, other shops and other restaurants. About a mile to the Indian River, about five miles to the Banana River (and Kelly Park for windsurfing or launching boats) about 12 miles to Port Canaveral and the beach at Jetty Park or better yet (my fav) Cherie Down Park. CDP is great for surfing, beach fishing, viewing rocket launches or just beach walking. While there please visit Port Canaveral's host of bars and restaurants. Also, about 25 miles to the Space Center. PLEASE! Best way onto property is go west on Canaveral Groves Blvd 1/2 mi. to Alan Sheppard, left and left again at 1st. street (Atlanta St.). Had an amazing and relaxing weekend. The campsite itself was very private, and the proximity to the “private-ish” beach was the best part. It felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. It was the perfect private getaway. The only downside was that the mini fridge at our site wasn’t working, so we had to rely on our cooler. Aside from that small issue, it was a 10/10 experience. We’ll definitely be back for the peace and quiet.

We booked a 2nd night. The outdoor shower is amazing. We stayed on lots 2 & 4. Will rebook on 4 (just my preference). Its all about what you're looking for. I haven't stayed at a site that has recent pics on the hip camp site. Don't expect it and you wont be disappointed. I LOVED THIS PLACE. I dont know any tent campers that would not love this place ( I know 0 Glampers). There are hidden treasures all over this property. We had a ball. Enjoy and DONT SKIP THE HONEY! There is reportedly an alligator in the pond. I didn't see it and we all left better than we arrived

All reviews were in accordance with what we expected and experienced - we had one overnight stop going south and returned for another 3 nights going north. We were the only ones at the RV side of the pond so it gave us lots of privacy. Lovely people, nice outside shower and no other “noise” than the traffic on the road. But that is just the way it is. Having alligators in the pond made it also exotic for us. An easy spot to find and close to the main highway too.

If live music and other campers here are not a fit for you, we recommend visiting us on a weekday or off-season. But please know the camp sites are far from music stage, pavilion, and festival area, and the music is usually ONLY during the afternoons and over by 4pm, so the evenings are quiet. Many of our HH customers come back several times a year for our weekend entertainment. Since we are a working farm property, there may be farm activity early some mornings, usually weekdays. You can see how the old orange groves worked as we haven't filled in all the furrows yet. The old orange Grove is now home to cattle, horses, goats, ducks, and our little family. Learn more about this land: Bring your RV away from the hustle and bustle of the city to the wide open spaces of the country. The only sounds you'll hear are cows mooing, goats baaing, and horses neighing. Sunsets and the stars are a site to see out here. THE PROPERTY: The owners live on the property with their 2 children and are willing to be helpful in anyway. Children are more than welcome to tag along. Being kid friendly is a plus for us as our kids might be running around enjoying their property. Can't forget dog friendly either. Our dogs love to greet our guests. NEARBY ATTRACTIONS: If beaches are on your agenda, South Causeway and Fort Pierce Inlet State Park are only 25 minutes from the beach! Our favorite place to grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner is Carter's Grocery, which is only 4 minutes from our property. ACTIVITIES: We have chickens that lay eggs and are great for eating so if you'd like some fresh eggs, feel free to go over to their house and grab some. We have a Pavillion with a fire pit that is welcomed to be used. Our dock provides a look out on our pond. Please feed the fish some food if you'd like. Also, take time to fish in our pond and catch some tilapia or blue gill. The kids have a blast fishing as the fish are easy to catch. THE SPACE: The site you'll be staying at is close to the owners house. There are 2 parking spots on asphalt that are available for the campers vehicles or park directly at your site. The ground will be grass that the camper will park on. Please note: we have 2 gates with gate codes that shut automatically. Please be sure each gate closes behind you! We have free roaming cattle and other farm animals outside the camping area. We are always open to recommendations on how we can make your stay even better! Our space is totally private, fenced in, and features a clean swimming hole with a beach!  About the property Our property is near Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park and Lake Okeechobee.  If you’re looking for places to visit for the day or services nearby, you can head to Okeechobee, which is only 20 min away. Lake Placid is only 40 min, Vero Beach is only 1 hr, and Melbourne is 1 hr 30 min.  All of the listed locations offer great opportunities for fishing, hunting, swimming, and beach hangouts. Each of the sites allows for watching the livestock, hanging out at the watering hole, and sitting around the communal campfire. Our favorite things about our property are privacy, amenities, and all of the roaming mini livestock throughout the property! Your hosts do not live onsite however, will be available to you during your visit. We are friendly and as non-invasive as we can be. We do love meeting our guests and are available for any questions that come up. Our primary purpose when developing this property was to create a safe space for children with special needs and their families. We are a no judgment zone and adhere to Hipcamp's inclusion policy. Golden sands and misty seascapes stretch along the Atlantic Coast at Sebastian Inlet State Park, where surfers congregate to ride famous surf breaks like “First Peak” and “Monster Hole.” If you prefer tranquil paddling to crashing surf, the central Indian River Lagoon provides a scenic spot for boating and kayaking, along with snorkeling, scuba diving, and saltwater fishing. Don’t miss a visit to the McLarty Treasure Museum to admire treasure from an 18th-century Spanish shipwreck, then check into the Sebastian Inlet Campground, where the RV and tent sites all have full hookups, fire rings, and picnic benches.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. You can reserve one of 51 full-facility campsites at Sebastian Inlet State Campground via the Florida State Parks Reservation website.
  2. Sebastian Inlet campsite reservations can be made 11 months in advance for Florida residents, or 10 months in advance for non-residents.
  3. Campsites can book up fast, especially in peak season (April-September) and over holiday weekends, so book at least three months in advance.

When to go

Summer is peak season at Sebastian Inlet State Park, so arrive early to secure a parking spot and expect crowds along the beaches. Spring and late fall through winter are the best times for birding along the coast, when migratory shorebirds flock to the coast. If you’re visiting in June or July, this is the chance to spot loggerhead sea turtles nesting along the beach, but you’ll need to book a ranger-led tour to do so.

  • Sebastian Inlet State Park is 20 miles southeast of Melbourne, about a 30-minute drive away.
  • There are day-use fees for all Florida State Parks, and campsite booking fees also apply. 
  • Facilities at Sebastian Inlet State Park include boat ramps, picnic areas, a playground, beach showers, a Visitor Center, a restaurant and gift shop, and bait shops.
  • You can bring your own boat and watercraft to the park, but boat launch fees may apply. There are no lifeguard patrols at Sebastian Inlet, so swim at your own risk and pay attention to warning flags indicating water conditions.
  • There are ADA-accessible campsites, fishing jetties, restrooms, beaches, and other facilities at Sebastian Inlet. Beach wheelchairs are also available.

Sebastian Inlet Campground
Zero shade, so 75% of the year this stinks. Also the sites are very close together and there is no feeling of privacy. Once I camped here and saw a co-worker a few sites down. Yeek! Sometimes you just need to get away from it all and this is not the place to do that. If you love to fish and love to be crammed into lots of people and sweat a lot, this is your place.

Great place for fishing! There is also hiking and bike trails and of course the beach! The state park camp sites are great with water and electricity hook ups. Also available is primative camping at the Sebastian inlet marina, still on state park property and passes are provided to get you in the North and South gates.
