Excellent Group Site! We only host one group at a time so you can be with your family and friends in a large, flat and private space. We listed the site for up to 12 campers but feel free to reach out if your group is bigger. Please check out the newest addition of our cabin bunkhouse. Take a look at the pictures - you can add it to your stay as an extra when you book! The land was originally purchased in the 1980's. Since then, it has been used by four generations of the family as a place to gather, relax, camp and even celebrate. I had my wedding on the property in 2010. For a few years we held an annual music festival with the very inventive name of Samapalooza. Up to 400 people would attend the day filled with live music, food and drinks. You will still find the stage and bar we built as an outdoor kitchen and dining area. Around 2008, my father and I planted our first olive trees. Many have been planted since which has gifted the land the timeless sense of purpose it deserves. My father dedicated his last years to tending the young trees and now I have taken the mantle to carry the farm forward. 'The Property', as it is known amongst family and friends has always been a place to camp. I have sat around the same fire ring for decades, rain or shine. I hope that fellow hipcampers can find the joy that my family and I have experienced here. This is a very private camp on a small olive farm. Geographically close to highways and the town of Novato, Sonoma and Napa wine country, this camp feels remote and secluded. Only one camp on the property to keep it private and special. You basically have your run of the land. We have just updated the land and made some nice improvements. Located on ten acres, you will drive past a small olive grove before reaching the spacious and open campground. Just up the hill from the camp is a private pond where you can fish, take out a small boat or just sit and watch the birds. It can be great swimming on hot summer days. This spot has been used by the family for decades and is now open to share with fellow nature lovers. Just a note: While the majority of the time you can expect complete privacy, this is a working olive farm. From time to time you may run into me (Sam) or someone else associated with the land. We will always do our best to respect your space.

Your designated parking space is a 6-minute walk from the campsite (downhill on arrival, then back uphill (steep) in the forest), so we recommend traveling light. Our campsite is nestled within the same property as our charming little farm. Our goats roam the land all day and may visit you for pets and nuzzles. They are gentle, but please do not feed or let them inside the tent. Recharge from the day with a hot shower. Grab your fresh towels from your tent and go to your outdoor allocated bathhouses, where you’ll find an indoor shower and well-appointed restrooms. They are nicely lit and stocked with bath products. A sink area is available for dish clean-up, and a bbq/picnic area. KM is famous for its hiking and biking trails nestled amongst the redwoods. Excellent Group Site! We only host one group at a time so you can be with your family and friends in a large, flat and private space. We listed the site for up to 12 campers but feel free to reach out if your group is bigger. Please check out the newest addition of our cabin bunkhouse. Take a look at the pictures - you can add it to your stay as an extra when you book! The land was originally purchased in the 1980's. Since then, it has been used by four generations of the family as a place to gather, relax, camp and even celebrate. I had my wedding on the property in 2010. For a few years we held an annual music festival with the very inventive name of Samapalooza. Up to 400 people would attend the day filled with live music, food and drinks. You will still find the stage and bar we built as an outdoor kitchen and dining area. Around 2008, my father and I planted our first olive trees. Many have been planted since which has gifted the land the timeless sense of purpose it deserves. My father dedicated his last years to tending the young trees and now I have taken the mantle to carry the farm forward. 'The Property', as it is known amongst family and friends has always been a place to camp. I have sat around the same fire ring for decades, rain or shine. I hope that fellow hipcampers can find the joy that my family and I have experienced here. This is a very private camp on a small olive farm. Geographically close to highways and the town of Novato, Sonoma and Napa wine country, this camp feels remote and secluded. Only one camp on the property to keep it private and special. You basically have your run of the land. We have just updated the land and made some nice improvements. Located on ten acres, you will drive past a small olive grove before reaching the spacious and open campground. Just up the hill from the camp is a private pond where you can fish, take out a small boat or just sit and watch the birds. It can be great swimming on hot summer days. This spot has been used by the family for decades and is now open to share with fellow nature lovers. Just a note: While the majority of the time you can expect complete privacy, this is a working olive farm. From time to time you may run into me (Sam) or someone else associated with the land. Dino’s place was great! The property was cool, spacious, and peaceful. There were miles of hiking trails right out the back of the property, and a little boat ramp about a 3-5 minute walk that we would have used for paddling if the weather was better. The town of Locke is a very short walk and was an amazing bit of little-known history, also had some cool shops. There are a couple restaurants a short walk or drive away. Dino was very hospitable and we loved our stay! We’ll be back for sure. Oh, and I should add our dogs enjoyed exploring the area too :)

Loved everything about Sana and William’s - we were greeted by Meowsicle the cat upon our arrival, we enjoyed beautiful sunsets over the forest and ocean views straight from our tent, and ate farm fresh eggs every morning! We also loved being visited by the friendly goats (who loved chin scratches). Sana and William were both very friendly and helpful whenever we needed them. I would absolutely stay here again.

This is an incredibly peaceful site, where the only sound at night is the ocean and the only reminder that you are close to a major city are the planes flying in and out of SFO in the distance. We saw lots of wildlife like a family of quails hanging around the edge of the site. Our dog loved exploring the area. We were hoping to hike on the redwood forest trail that ends near the site, but realized dogs are not allowed there, so we just walked down the road from the site instead and enjoyed the beautiful valley views until we could see the ocean. It definitely would be more of a primitive camping experience if not for the pristine Porta-potty, which we didn’t mind. The picnic table and chairs were a nice bonus, though the umbrellas were missing some parts. As others have mentioned and the host shared with us, things will be quite wet in the morning. Rebecca gave us super helpful recommendations on which nearby beaches we could take our dog

Unbeatable views, location, and wonderful trails. I also loved having the rolling carts to help get stuff to the site and the potable water coolers at the dome. I will be back. The only thing I think would be nice would be a privat place to hang up solar shower for people who are motivated to byo solar shower bag and fill up with water at the trailhead. Because the only limiting factor of not wanting to stay longer was feeling grimy.

This is a beautiful, 20-sided shingled cottage set on 2 acres of oak trees, with views of the San Francisco Bay through the trees. The property is gated with off-street parking. This unique guest house offers one bedroom with a queen bed, and a full size sofa bed in the living room. Windows in every room look out into the oaks, where you can see deer, squirrels, hummingbirds, and occasional rabbits. For its location, it feels incredibly private! The cottage is just 2 miles from charming downtown San Rafael, and just 1 mile to mountain biking, hiking, and picnicking at China Camp State Park. San Rafael is the perfect location for day trips to San Francisco, Mt. Tamalpais, and all of Marin, Sonoma, and Napa counties. The cottage was built with the finest materials, including slate roof with copper gutters, bamboo and slate floors, granite counter tops, tumbled marble shower, and maple cabinets. A deck with glass railing encircles the entire house. There is a full kitchen, wireless high speed Internet, and cable. The only other other structure on the property is our main home. The best camping in Mount Diablo State Park, CA guide

About

From the summit of this mountain, you’ll be able to see all the way to the Sierra Nevada on a clear day. Bring some binoculars and you might even be able to make out Yosemite’s iconic Half Dome.

Standing at 3,864 feet, this iconic mountain towers the nearby city of Walnut Creek. Bonus: you can drive to the summit! Beyond the views, Mt. Diablo State Park's massive 20,000-acres offers plentiful opportunities for climbing, biking, and hiking.

Check out Boy Scout rocks or Pine Canyon for some of the best climbing the Bay has to offer. Just be careful, the sandstone here is delicate. It’s a good rule of thumb to wait three days after a rain before climbing.
For a real challenge, try the infamous Mount Diablo Challenge bicycle race every October. The current record to the top is 43 minutes, 33 seconds. If you complete the course in under an hour, you’ll get one of the coveted "One-Hour" T-shirts. Talk about bragging rights.

Hikers will be over the moon when they discover the park’s extensive trail system. Our favorite hike is the Mount Diablo Grand Loop, a trail that circumvents the entire mountain. The gates here close at sunset, so make sure you have plenty of time to get back to your car.

If you would like to take in a sunset, spend the night at Juniper, Live Oak, or Mount Diablo Group Campground. (Juniper has the best views.) Be sure to bring plenty of water, it gets pretty dry up there.

Food locker: 2x. We used the one beneath the tree - raccoon did not get inside. Parking: vehicle fit on roundabot right next to campsite. Privacy: secluded by surrounding bushes Spacious: can fit at least two+ tents Trash/Recycling bins: plentiful Minor cons: -minimal view from campsite #16, tall bushes provide privacy. better view from the overlook. -Flies/bees active buzzing at campsite. -If sitting around picnic table at night, make sure snacks are not out on picnic table, but kept in lap. Raccoon was not shy about jumping on inactive stove top.

Camped at Juniper Camp, would strongly recommend. Great, easy ridgeline hiking with incredible views and tons of wildlife -- rabbits, snakes, birds. Great sunset and city night views from the top of the mountain. Our campsite didn't have a view but we were able to walk 50 feet to the parking lot which has an amazing view. Extremely aggressive raccoons -- I thought they were dogs. Only major downside is the ban on wood fires that is in effect throughout almost all of the summer (charcoal fires only). It can get windy, so wear layers and make sure your tent is has plenty of mesh, or bring earplugs to deal with the sound of the wind! Our campmates who didn't do either ended up sleeping in their car.

Stayed at Site #11. Wonderful campground with stunning views. Rangers are very helpful and friendly. Our food locker door was broken and had to keep food in our car. Restrooms are clean. Showers were not working when we there.

Camping here can offer a fantastic view at sunset, but the raccoons and park rangers make for a horrible experience in camp. Our group was harassed and interrogated at length about alcohol (which we didn't have). It seems to be too big an ask to be treated with some decency rather than presumed as hooligans. Be prepared for rudeness (and maybe get some names to report back to the CA Parks admins.)

Stayed st Juniper campground in Mid-February, it was super windy! We feared out tents would blow away when we left, and it was hard to sleep.. We all ended up in our cars by the morning. It has a great view on the western side of the city lights, but call a ranger and see how the wind gusts are for that night before you make the trek!

Wouldn't recommend using the food lockers. They are terrible and do not close all the way. Raccoons will definitely get in. We kept waking up to them tearing open bags of chips, and even if you block the door, they'll get in. These raccoons are huge from all the snacks they steal! And there is trash everywhere in the brush from them. Also, the rangers are not very chill. Alcohol is not allowed and they will make you pour it all out. We were threatened repeatedly of getting kicked out and they even made us take our hammock down for no reason. So keep your beers and food in the cars. There are amazing views so definitely worth a trip.

We woke up a couple times because of raccoons in the food locker. At one point there were baby raccoons inside the locker. The door to the locker was in pretty bad shape prior and they were able to squeeze in. We had to let them out then use the firewood box to try to block the door. 5 minutes after getting back in the tent, a bigger raccoon appears to try to open the box again. I would recommend wearing earplugs and not pitching too close to the food locker if you don't want to be disturbed. They are loud and not afraid to keep trying. Took a 3.5 year old on the hike from Juniper campground to the summit. Found ice cream at the summit visitor center, the little one was pleasantly surprised. It says no dogs on the trails, but we saw 2

Great views, although you don't quite get the "isolated from civilization" feeling I like so much when camping. Easy drive-up spot, relatively dog friendly, we were able to get campsites that were relatively isolated. The raccoons are no joke- not afraid of humans, or dogs. Guard your food!

Mount Diablo Group Campground
Beautiful views at sunset!! Last year we went and there was a massive fire ban, so you could only cook on stoves. Still worth it. Pets allowed, but not on the trails :(

Juniper and Live Oak Campground
This We just stayed here - this is an amazing campground with spectacular views. There are some raccoons and they're not afraid of humans.

The park can be very hot and dry, so make sure you bring lots of water and sunscreen.

If you’re camping, bring your own firewood and check ahead of time to make sure campfires are allowed (this changes depending on weather conditions).

You can drive to the top, but really if you can, we suggest doing the Grand Loop Trail
