We love our little spot near the river, and we love sharing it with others who enjoy getting outside.  Located just 4 miles from Strasburg, Virginia, we are within striking distance of a variety of hiking and outdoor adventures, including the Strasburg River Walk (5 miles away), Signal Knob Trail (13 miles away), Elizabeth Furnace Recreational Area (13 miles away), Tuscarora Trail Eagle Rock Trail (19 miles away), Shenandoah River State Park (24 miles away), Overlook Trail (25 miles away), and Camp Roosevelt Recreation Area (27 miles away).  Downtown Strasburg also has tons of antique shops, Box Office Brewery, The Pancake Underground, Old Dominion Doggery, Burger Shoppe, Ice Cream Depot, and the Strasburg Museum, which is great for anyone who loves trains or history.  We are a short drive to Woodstock and Front Royal as well. Or take in a movie at The Family Drive in Theatre, just 14 miles away. About the listing Pitch your tents, vans, truck campers, trailers, and RVs at this quiet, private, secluded site. Enjoy the sounds of crickets as you fall asleep. There's a portable camping toilet set up in a pop-up tent (please pack your waste out with you when you leave!). The site also includes a private fire pit and picnic table, but no running water.  What to bring Drinking water We try to keep toilet paper stocked, but if you're picky feel free to bring your own Pets are welcome, on or off leash Camp cooking supplies (no kitchen or equipment is provided) Firewood if you intend to have a fire and there are no local fire bans in place. Welcome to our small Farm, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Madison County, Virginia. Located just minutes from Shenandoah National Park, we offer intimate nature-inspired cottages and camping on our 120-acre working farm. Camper vans are welcome at the main farm! Our farm store includes our Animal Welfare Approved products such as Eggs, Chicken, Beef, Pork, Lamb and Dairy, as well as produce, jams, coffee and other items from our local community. We offer camping essentials, local art, bike rentals, farm experiences and tours. The property has miles of trails along mountain spring-fed streams, a small pond and access to three private acres on the Robinson River, a stocked Trout stream, just 2 miles down the road. Our property is centrally located to White Oak Canyon (20 minutes) and Old Rag Mountain (10 minutes) trailheads in the Shenandoah National Park as well as many vineyards and breweries. There is evidence of civil war activity here and the old river ford is on our property. Creek and river access make this a beautiful, peaceful place that is full of life. The energy here is overwhelmingly positive. Our house was built in the 1850s and the neighboring farm was built shortly after—lots of history on this property. You will be able to camp right next to Glade Creek which is always cool, clean, and refreshing. Our goal with opening the land up for camping is to eventually phase out commercial farming on the property and transform it into woodlands using native plants and trees. Looking for a personal retreat or get away ? Escape to our beautiful, RUSTIC 32 acre wild homestead / farm. A lovely balance between wild and tame. We are 10 minutes from the Potomac River, 10 minutes from Opequon Creek, 20 from Antietam Creek and 30 minutes from the Shenandoah River. Harper's Ferry is 30 minutes way and downtown Historic Shepherdstown is just down the road. We are also close to several state parks. - What do we mean by "RUSTIC" ? The camping experience we offer is about unplugging from the modern world , getting back to basics, slowing down and re-connecting with the land. Simply put, this is CAMPING .... not glamping. (Our Cosmic Cottage is also rustic, despite the amenities that come with it). - CAMPSITES and TREEHOUSE - No electricity or wifi on the land. Campsites and TREEHOUSE are nestled in the woods. So although your vehicle will be parked within 50 ft or so from site, you cannot pull directly up to the site and get any closer because of the trees. - SHOWER and PORTA POTTY - roughly a 5 minute or less walk from sites to shower and / or porta potty. Shower hours are 8 am- to 8 pm. The shower has hot and cold running water . You can drive to the shower if you need to. - RESPONSE TIME - This is a working herb farm/ sanctuary and we so do not always have our phones on us. We will make every effort to respond to you within a few hours. Please be patient and you will receive a response. -BOOKING - If you are interested in booking and / or availability, go to the HIPCAMP BOOKING CALENDAR and enter the dates you are interested in. for the most up to date accurate info on availability. - Feel free to wander through the herb gardens, eat your meals in the garden pavilion (we have picnic tables there and hammocks), get your Zen on in the meditation hut , and stroll through the woodland medicine path where we grow endangered and at at risk plant plants. (heads up.. the woodland medicine path goes to seed by the Fall and is usually munched down by the deer by then, but is still a nice short stroll in the woods).

My friend and I brought our pups up here for a night and can’t recommend it enough. The site is private, close to a few wineries/breweries, and has great views. Be sure to follow the 4WD guidance - we didn’t have to use it but I can see how rain a day or two before could make for an interesting drive up. The leaves this time of year also made it a bit slick. Overall, the campsite was exactly what we were hoping for and we’ll be back if camping in the area again!

This is the second time that my family and I have stayed at this site. We liked it so much that we brought friends this time! The location is incredible and Greg is an outstanding Camp host. He’s quickly responsive to all of our questions and needs. He absolutely goes above and beyond to make the stay special and especially to find ways to make it really fun for our kids. May daughter loves seeing the resident cats and Greg’s very chill dogs.I also appreciate how flexible he was when some of our plans changed. I will be back to this site many times.

Arrived after dark. The signage was not clear but quickly found a spot (open field) and set up camp. Didn’t download directions to Old Rag but found it quickly with directions from the lodge. Dinner buffet style at the lodge was fantastic. Overall a great camping adventure!!!

The Hilltop site was wonderful with beautiful views of the sunrise in the morning and the stars at night. The trees provided privacy from other campers and great birdsong throughout the day. The site itself is pretty bare bones so come prepared -- Greg is super helpful and will bring firewood and other necessities if you ask, though, so it's really not a big deal. Speaking of Greg, he was super kind and offered great recommendations on what to do during the visit. Be sure to ask him about the cave along the C&O Canal path -- we explored it and saw a sleepy little bat that was a highlight for the whole group! :)

This camp sote was perfect for the colder fall weather. Not too much other campers, so we nearly had the place to ourselves. Yurt was the best feature, in my opinion. We got some rain both mornings and did not have to worry a bit. Got there late and were relieved we didn't have to set up tent and such. Campsite was nice with some easy water access you could rinse kitchenware off and even bath I can imagine during hot, humid summer months. Took a pair of waders just to fool around and discovered the creek bed to be relatively shallow. Take that as you wish with whatever activity you wish to pursue. Firepit was also decent, you could have a nice manageable fire. The only thing I would say that I would change different but cannot for obvious reasons is the train by the river. Pretty loud. Owner can't help it either, so he's at no fault. Other than that this is a great site.

Easy to find site but definitely have an off road capable vehicle to cross the stream. Low slung sedans won't make it Camp site was clean, flat, and private. Only major criticism is easier access to the Porta John. You need to drive back across the stream to get to it as the sewer pipe cannot be used to walk across. Driving out isn't always a option with tents in the way. My other personal opinion is the fire ring could be bigger. Seemed too small for such a large site

In addition to camping, we got to help feed the animals both mornings and our kids were thrilled. Had a great time!! It is a very special property and Jennifer was kind to show us the animals and tell us more about the history. The little cabin was comfortable and had all the basic cooking items we needed as well as plenty of water for dishes/handwashing! We enjoyed a complimentary wine tasting at a nearby winery that Jennifer gave us, but overall just hung out at the property and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Also, the outhouse is difficult to see if you arrive at night, but it is there, just a few feet off the trail by the solar lights :)

Had a great time tent camping here! The site was the perfect size and nicely situated next to the creek and away from other sites. We had a little trouble finding our way to the site but we were in the dark 😅 had no trouble crossing the river and the area felt very safe. Would recommend!

My husband, myself, our kids and grandkids all met up at this amazing farm just overnight for a wonderful and rare campfire get together, but wished we had stayed longer. The grandkids loved all the animals but especially Zeus, the big, super sweet dog of the property! The expansive property accommodates RVs well with plenty of space to be private yet camp amongst the animals. Our camp host greeted us, got us set up with power, and told us all about the workings of the farm and all that was available to us on the property. These extras that you don’t normally get at most Hipcamp properties was really cool! A barn with a restroom and gathering area where chili was available the night we were there along with many homemade and local goodies like shortbread cookies, honey, dried lavender sachets and produce for purchase. We happily donated a small amount toward taking care of the rescued animals on the farm. A couple of our kids and their families live in the area so we will definitely be back! Thanks Juanita it was a pleasure!!

The campsite was great for what we needed. Our dog enjoyed walking around the site and meeting the friendly horses. We're very low maintenance so it was a good match for our stay. The stars are super pretty at nighttime and the area is quiet enough to enjoy the camp. The locals were friendly and we felt very safe being here.
