Just up the road is the popular Silver Lake and State Park, great swimming, sunbathing, paddle boarding, kayaking or canoeing. We are close to interesting activities, such as the White River National Fish Hatchery, Billings Farm, the Queechee Balloon festival, and more. Near by farm stands sell fresh organic produce, eggs, grass fed meats, homemade food products and crafts. What is there to eat and drink? Nearby restaurants include The Barnard Inn, Cloudland, Toziers, Tessi’s Tavern, Locust Creek Diner, The Bethel Sandwich Shop, Cockadoodle and Village Pizza. Babe’s Bar in Bethel offers amazing creative cocktails in an old railway station. In the village of South Royalton 12 miles away is our local Co-op. There you can access lots of healthy food choices, many locally sourced and lots of drinks, it's our go to market. Three miles up Route 12 is the Barnard General Store and gas station they have just about everything a camper could want. They stock ice, fresh baked goodies, fruit and vegetables, prepared foods and many locally produced delights such as ice cream, kombucha and fresh baked goods. Their meat case features, sausages, thick pork chops, fresh air chilled chicken, local grass fed beef and they always have fresh Farro Island salmon. They also offer wine, beer and ciders. A mile away on 107 is the Locust Creek General Store and gas station, they uniquely offer block ice, diesel and kerosene, drinks, simple fresh sandwiches, many frozen foods and lots of newspapers. Our Regenerative Herb Farm sits on 15-acres of rolling hills full of wildflowers and gardens. We owned an ecological landscape design/build company for 15 years so the gardens, meadows, woodlands and trails are wild with biodiversity and color. The farm is a certified Bee Friendly Farm through the Pollinator Partnership. We give guided tours weekly upon request and discuss the ecological restoration efforts that are underway as well as our 'Seed to Soap' project that is Farm Craft VT. Our Farm Store is open daily from 8-8 and is self-serve. All sites have fire-pits (don't forget to order a firewood bundle), room for a group of 4-6, and views of starry skies. Please Note - none of the campsites are accessible by car. They don't have electricity or air conditioning - yup it's camping, just a wee bit more comfortable. For the complete Farm Craft VT experience, book a guided-farm tour on our website where you can smell the herbs, taste the honey from our hives, learn about how essential oils are distilled, how seed oils are pressed and handcrafted soap is made on site. A quiet, beautiful private setting with brook side camping, a large field or in the woods. Located three miles up on Stoney Brook road with a beautiful stretch of the brook passing through the property. Stoney Brook feeds into the White River, which has multiple amazing swimming and fishing holes, and is great for kayaking, canoeing, and tubing. On site activities include fishing, swimming, hiking, and skiing. Situated close to Killington, Woodstock and various local points of interest. Know Town welcomes well mannered pets (2 per site). We are 420 friendly and geared towards hosting those interested in arts, music, meditation, and ecology. We are currently building a Geodesic dome that will be available to rent soon. However it is currently a bit of a construction site, so pardon the appearance. Also, it should be noted that there is currently no Wi-Fi or cell service. Please be aware that Vermont prohibits out-of-state Firewood. In the future we hope to have firewood for sale, until then firewood can be purchased locally. There is also plenty of dead wood on our property to scavenge.

“Ubuntu” Def: An ancient African word meaning “Humanity to others”. It is a reminder of “I am what I am because of who we all are.” We do our best to bring the spirit of Ubuntu to our lives and property that we have been graced with. We hope your visit to Ubuntu will be peaceful and rejuvenating. Ubuntu was the PERFECT place to observe the Northern Lights on Friday and Saturday (May 10-11). Campers at Ubuntu found the perfect spot to observe the April 8th TOTAL solar eclipse. There are no lights, no neighbors in sight, and they had the freedom to choose their campsite or observation point, whether it was on the flat, nestled in the trees, or on top of Carney Mountain. RV’s also easily found a spot to camp. New friends were made as everyone observed the eclipse. It was totally awe inspiring in so many ways!! The open areas and the top of Carney Mountain, which is a short hike with panoramic views of the area, were perfect spots to experience the solar eclipse, Northern Lights, sunrises and sunsets. The 115 acres of Ubuntu offer many opportunities for camping, hiking and enjoying the abundant wildlife. There is a wet area that sometimes becomes several ponds if the beavers have been at work. There is a path leading to the ponds and also one that runs through the woods to the right of the ponds. The location is private and quiet but still very accessible (only 10 minutes from Exit 34 off the Northway) to all the Adirondacks has to offer, such as biking, jogging, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and hiking. Ubuntu is located only 45 minutes from Lake Placid and the high peaks areas, Saranac Lake is about one hour away, Lake Champlain is 20 minutes away, and Montreal is one hour away. The ferry to Vermont if you wish to cross over the pond (Lake Champlain) is about 45 minutes away. And Exit 34 off the Northway is only 10 minutes from Ubuntu. And if you love equestrian sports, the Willow Hill Equestrian Center is less than 1.5 miles away. Bring your horse and stable your buddy at the Willow Hill Farm, or sign up for a lesson with one of their accomplished instructors. Your furry pets are welcome, but we ask that you keep them on a leash if they tend to chase game or do not have a reliable recall. Please use good judgment. There are many deer on the property, so yes we do have ticks. Please take the necessary precautions. Generators are allowed but in keeping with the peace and tranquility of Ubuntu, please run them only between the hours of 12:00 - 2 PM, especially if other campers are present.. Fern Hollow

Our property is nestled in the foothills of the Mad River Valley, close to the headwaters of the river. The property is composed of wetlands, agricultural meadows, old apple trees, and hardwood forest with 700 feet of elevation. All structures on the property are solar-powered and a rainwater system feeds the sink in the outdoor kitchen. There are a handful of individual camp sites available in the spring, summer and fall, as well as a communal outdoor kitchen with lighting, a fire pit, a stone pizza oven and a sitting/yoga deck. We also offer more of a "glamping" experience in our 14 ft yurt, which comfortably sleeps 2-3 people with wood stove heat and a solar battery for lighting. We love sharing this space with others and offering a rustic forest getaway.
