Shaker Mountain Refuge sits on 300, mostly wooded acres at the foot of the Green Mountains. With outstanding views of Camel's Hump (Vermont's second tallest peak), the refuge is a wonderful place to sit back, relax and enjoy the natural world. There are numerous hiking trails on site, as well as a beautiful swimming pond. Access to Camels Hump hiking trails is a short drive away. Nearby, Camels Hump Nordic ski and bike center boasts incredible mountain biking and nordic ski trails. Just down the hill, the Huntington River has an abundance of swimming holes and fishing spots. Just over the Appalachian Gap are the Mad River Glen and Sugarbush ski resorts. There are many excellent restaurants within a 20 minute drive.

Coyote Lean-to

100% (27)
Quirky · Sleeps 12
Coyote Lean-to is a 3 sided log structure with amazing views of Camels Hump. It has a queen size bed with mosquito netting and 2 comfortable chairs. There is electricity for bed side lights and charging phones. Although relatively close to the main house, it is extremely private with dense vegetation surrounding 3 sides of the structure and blocking it from view. There are multiple campsites adjacent to the lean-to, which for an extra fee, can be used by your friends or relatives, but will never house strangers while you are there. Cell phone service is spotty, unless you have AT&T. Sometimes the internet from the main house will work at the lean-to. It is very rustic but will be a fun adventure!

Conifer Cabin

100% (10)
Cabin · Sleeps 4
Conifer Cabin is tucked back into a spruce tree stand with outstanding views of Vermont' second tallest peak, Camels Hump. It sits just above a beautiful swimming pond and is situated on 300 acres. The cabin has a full size bed in a loft, a sleeper sofa on the main floor, an indoor sitting area, a covered porch, and a fire pit. There is a BBQ grill with a propane burner for cooking. There are basic pots, pans plates and utensils. The site shares a porta potty with a neighboring Lean-To that sits about 500ft uphill, but is not visible from the cabin. There is electricity, but no running water. A 5 gallon potable water jug will be filled and on site. No fridge, so bring a cooler.
