Fairview Farms Airfield

17 sites 路 Lodging, RVs, Tents66 acres 路 Pine Grove, PA
The 66-acre property has been licensed as an airport (PS20) since the 1980s. It is currently an active, private airport. We don't sell fuel or offer services beyond camping so we primarily have only air traffic with few to no landings each year. In other words, it is very quiet here except during the occasional low pass. We are very eager for pilots to fly in and camp out! The beautiful sunsets and stargazing night skies are a real treat for anyone that comes to visit. Lots of deer, birds, and other wildlife can be seen out and about. Bring your telescope and binoculars to view all the property has to offer! Note that we are always working to improve our slice of heaven, thus we do have tools, vehicles, and equipment stored around the farm that if not used now will be one day. We appreciate your understanding that some areas are used for our personal / farm storage. If you're not into looking at our farmware, there are a few nearby campgrounds. The hot tub is located next to the owner's home. Guests are welcome to use this at any time but must reserve and pay for a time slot. * Book this through the Extras * We are within walking distance of Swatara State Park and close to the Appalachian Trail. Short drive to the local winery, bowling alley, pub/diner, and movie theater. Grocery stores and gas are also nearby. Miles of hiking, rail trail, single-track mountain biking, and kayaking are all right here! See our kayak and bike rentals under extras! Hershey Park is approximately a 30-minute drive from our location. Rausch Creek, Anthracite, and Reading off-road areas are also nearby. Note: Monthly rental discounts are available. Work-stay exchange programs are available. We are always looking for good reliable part-time help on the farm! Please ask! Fall leaves colors are looking awesome! Ironwood Trail & Private Campground

1 site 路 Tent5 acres 路 Boyertown, PA
聽 聽 聽It took seven years to carve this winding trail and two-level scenic聽 campsite into the wooded hill behind our home.聽 Now completed, I feel inspired to share their solitude and beauty with others who will appreciate it. From the top of a steep drive, a brief but precipitous hike leads you high up very quickly through a mature forest to some steps that lead the first of two camping locations leveled within clefts of rocks forming a pair of overlooks.聽A聽soft,聽level campsite awaits you there under a canopy of trees聽where you will find everything you'll need for a small-scale deep forest outing. 聽 聽 聽The lower level either聽stands alone (1-2 persons)聽or聽serves as a base聽camp for the Northwest Expansion聽area (3-4 persons)聽a very聽short hike away.聽 (Please inquire about additional campers.) The expansion聽features a roomy 13 x 15ft groomed tenting surface, a stone fire ring聽with steel fire pit,聽and plenty of extra聽space to spread out.聽 It provides an additional layer of聽privacy and a (leaf-permitting) northwest view that usually includes a sunset. 聽 聽 聽[Note: Reservations include use of both the lower level and聽the upper聽Northwest Expansion camping areas.聽 Keep in mind that聽the technical nature of the trail and terrain makes it unsuitable for most children under聽10 years old.] 聽 聽 聽Hundreds of feet away, there are a few homes residing below the camps,聽but you are high enough above the world聽below to enjoy a sense of separation from it.聽聽Were聽these聽camping areas聽part of any state or聽commercial campground聽in Pennsylvania they would easily be聽among the best tenting sites in聽the state.聽 Even among Hipcamps we were awarded a聽top-ten rating in聽2018 and 2019+聽- and聽we've improved since then. People聽love it here. 聽 聽 聽 Guests will find a聽huge, well-stocked chest of supplies聽at the lower level to furnish virtually聽any extra thing(s)聽that may help you聽camp in comfort, from a Coleman cookstove and table, an air pump, a kettle, a 8x10 tarp, plates and cups and cutlery-there's even a Scrabble game and playing cards. You get the idea.聽 ** We ask our guests to arrive prepared with their own supplies and to use the supply box as a backup for items that may have been forgotten or to fill in for things they do not want to purchase for a single outing.** (Please do not depend solely on the camp supplies to meet聽ALL of your camping needs!)聽聽We took items on most camping lists and tried to have them waiting in the box聽so you can visit without worrying about forgetting anything.聽 聽 聽 聽 Firewood bundles can be purchased at any time during your stay. We try to keep an abundant supply in a woodpile聽at the trailhead that you purchase聽as needed via cash, Paypal or Venmo.聽聽Wood can easily be gathered, there are even hatchets and hand saws in the聽supply box for cutting聽fallen branches down to size.聽聽We also provide a two-person hammock, plastic Adirondack chairs, battery powered lanterns, citronella torches, etc.聽聽Cell chargers聽and jugs of drinking聽water are available upon request.聽 聽聽 聽 聽 聽聽The woods are teeming with聽resident species of woodpeckers, owls, warblers and more, and vultures and聽hawks and聽can almost always be seen riding thermals overhead. If you're lucky the turkeys will come to roost in the woods above the area as they often do. The best part is that聽no one else will know you are up聽there. 聽 聽 聽In addition to overnight stays, daytime and evening hours are available too for morning bird walks, lunch breaks, herbal retreats, sunset cookouts--whatever guests might imagine doing in the privacy of the outdoors. Tree climbing and treetop聽camping are welcome and encouraged for anyone聽looking for a good place to hang their gear and enjoy the view.聽 There are scores of great campsites waiting to be discovered up there for experienced and responsible climbers. 聽 聽 聽Please check out our reviews for more relevant details and feedback from our guests.聽 We hope to see you here sometime soon!

Grampy's Red Rock Rabbit Ranch

2 sites 路 Tents50 acres 路 Schwenksville, PA
50-some years ago, the legendary Grampy David made his way to The Red Rock Rabbit Ranch. There he resides: a good-hearted curmudgeon, a handyman, a grumpy, Ywengling-drinking philosopher, the wittiest mason, carpenter, roofer, etc. you'll ever meet. I'm his grandson, a documentary filmmaker helping to make ends meet here by sharing this glorious space with Hip Campers. 50 acres of serene woods, fields, a pond, and Mine Run Creek. Spring Mount Adventures is nearby. The Perkiomen Creek Trail is only a mile away. Crawfish, sycamore trees, foxes, pileated woodpeckers, and more! Caring for the land: please do not collect your own firewood on the land. That wood is decomposing and contributing to the health of the forest, providing numerous habitats for bugs. Note on dogs: we run a dog-sitting business, so there may be a pack (2-5) of dogs that come through the woods with us on walks. All dogs we sit are friendly towards humans. Food recs: Raw Replenish in downtown Schwenksville has healthy smoothies and salads. Thai Spice is ten minutes away. Trouble's End brewing is 15 minutes away in Collegeville, with delicious beer and a Spicy Chicken sandwich.

The best camping near Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site guide

The history of Philadelphia's iron plantations comes alive at this early 19th-century site. The park holds the remnants of the Hopewell Furnace, which operated from 1771 to 1883. Spend a day here for a glimpse of the industry that helped fuel the nation's booming economy.

Once you check out the exhibits at the visitor center, take a self-guided tour through 14 restored buildings. Don't leave until you visit the ironmaster's home and the blast furnace. The park holds charcoal burning demonstrations and live history programs during the summer. For some great photo ops, pose with the volunteers decked out in their 19th-century garb.

The historic village is the park's main draw, but there's more to see. Take time to hike the historic footpaths and roadways. If you're traveling with kids, the farm animals are a must-pet. Lambs, chickens, and horses roam just like they did in the 1800s.

French Creek State Park surrounds the historic site, offering even more outdoor recreation. Hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and boating opportunities await across the 848-acre park.

Hopewell Furnace is open all year. But if you really want to make some memories, catch the apple harvest from September through October. Don't be shy鈥攜ou can pick your own apples while exploring the park's orchards. Don't forget to pay before you leave.

Early iron plantations paved the way for the modern steel industry, making this site an important piece of the American story. History buffs and nature lovers alike are sure stoke the fire of their own spirits with a visit to this fascinating park.
