We had a cozy stay at the Just Be cabin. We arrived after dark and the trail to the cabin was well lit and easy to find. Stacey took the time to build a fire in the woodstove before we arrived so the cabin was very warm, and it was easy to keep warm throughout the evening. For a small cabin it felt very spacious. Really appreciated getting to stay at this sweet retreat!

Weekend Trip to Cozie Nook Homestead

We’ve done several Hipcamps before and this I by far our favorite. The owners are very nice and are available if needed. The campsite was perfect with a large platform that can fit our huge 6 person tent. It was quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed saying hello to the farm animals and going for hikes nearby. I highly recommend!

I visited Riverhaven in late October for a solo reading retreat, and the environment was exactly what I was looking for when I envisioned a peaceful, secluded place to read. The fall colors were beautiful, the rain and the running water added to the ambience, and everything necessary was provided to make my stay stress free and comfortable. Renel was very communicative leading up to my stay, which was very helpful with my trip planning. I would recommend Riverhaven to anyone and will stay again if I ever find myself back in Vermont.

The campground is well maintained. The environment is very nice.. grass lawn clean. The trail nice is nice for Hiking. It is located around my route 9. It is convenient for in and out. The owner, Gus , is very nice. When I checking, he came out welcome to us and showed us where the campsite is and how to get there. My campsite has a tub of 5G T-Mobile. Will come next time definitely.

We loved camping on John's unique property! It is situated at the end of an unpaved road but we had no problem with our 24' motorhome and tow vehicle. We unhooked the tow and maneuvered into a fairly level spot adjacent to the fire pit. We enjoyed a very private and peaceful evening and the fall foliage was gorgeous! Thank you John

Directions to the property were clear. The site was clean, flat, private, and peaceful. Although we didn’t use the firepit, everything was there. The outdoor shower had perfect temperature and pressure. Willis was friendly, met us upon arrival, and made sure we had everything we needed.

A small family farm that has been in Dennis's family since 1914. The old county road once existed in front of our house. Where horses and wagons would stop to off load part of their load to continue up the hill. They would return to pick up the rest and continue on. Since inheriting the farm, we have moved towards sustainable farming. We follow grass fed measures while raising our sheep the poultry free ranges to control the flea and tick population on the farm. Our vegetables are grown organically. We harvest only what is needed to heat our home from the forest leaving under growth alone. Last fall almost a hundred acres, of our farm, went into land conservation protecting it from urban sprawl.

We are a safe place for women who are traveling alone. We ensure everyone's quiet experience by not publishing our actual address. Please note: We ask for photo ID. Once we receive your photo ID via text we will provide exact directions to our property. Please plan to check in no later than 4:30pm as we are not available for later check ins unless we agree to meet you. It is dark at 5pm so early check in is critical. We host NYS Police along with local police/sheriff deputies here through our organization Hearts in Hand Horsemanship LLC. Don't be surprised if you see a NYS trooper or police unit parked up in the field near the horses. Fires: We allow small fires in specific spots, namely the fire ring at Camping on Blueberry Hill, at Ft Sky and inside the Tipi. Campsite fires are allowed weather permitting, when it's not windy and must be kept small. If it's windy then you can still have a fire in the tipi. No large fires or bonfires. All fires must be completely out unless you are physically with your fire. We supply 5 gallons of water and more is available to drink, wash dishes and put your fire out. Please respect our rules. Fire safety is necessary to keep everything safe here for all of us. Thank you for understanding. Here in the mountains we can experience very cold nights. We supply a small pile of firewood for a small fire at no charge. If you like, you can gather more dead wood (not live trees) in our forests. Winter is coming soon. We are 10 minutes away from Cherry Plain State Park (which has a gorgeous lake and kid-friendly sandy beach), and even closer to the Taconic Crest Trail. Our location is nestled between the Taconics of New York, the Green Mountains of Vermont, and the Berkshires of Massachusetts. Come share our paradise, bring your outdoor adventurer gear (you will be glad you did) and we will share our favorite local destinations with you. We ask that all hipcampers who are primary guests be 21 years of age or over. Children are welcome but we will not knowingly rent to anyone under 21 years of age. We have been the caretakers of this land and cabin since 2015, when we bought it from the builder of the modest cabin on-site, Steve. It is our family camp, but we love to share it with friends and fellow nature-loving campers. The land is partially wooded, and partially 'old field' that is slowly re-foresting through natural succession with some intentional interruption in order to introduce edible native trees and shrubs that are not naturally present. In this way the land is a slowly developing food forest and also a nursery for its plant-loving stewards. Learn more about this land: Escape the city and find yourself in this off-grid hillside cabin with a deck overlooking the Taconic mountain range. Wander through field and forest, and cool off in the nearby stream. The cabin has two rooms, and there is a kids playground and tire swing making this an appropriate family camping getaway. There is a solar panel providing indoor lights and phone charging capabilities, a fire pit with a grill, and a simple array of pots, dishes, and utensils. There is a spring-fed 55 gallon reservoir of potable water that will slowly refill as well. Though not far off the road, there is very little car traffic, and the surroundings are very peaceful. The din of the running stream is a constant, while the sounds of coyotes and owls can be heard at night. As the name indicates, the east-facing hillside is often witness to incredible moonrises, and the stars are always bright. Nearby Attractions: The Beer Diviner small-scale brewery and taproom is a stone's throw away from the parking area with a selection of tasty beer and some food options available. In addition to regular hours, there are special summer events, and live music every Saturday night. Cherry Plain State Park is a 'less-traveled' state park and campground just 3.5 miles up the road, offering lake swimming, boating, hiking and mountain bike trails. Other nearby outdoor attractions include: Williamstown MA, The Taconic Crest Trail, Jiminy Peak Resort, Hancock Shaker Village, and Mt. Greylock. I loved the grassy sights with just a hint of shade. There's serious hiking - lakes, ponds, waterfalls, and peaks - all from the campground, or just a short drive away. North Pond is perfect for swimming, and there are year-round cabins.
