My partner and I had such a beautiful stay here. The river, the trees, the smell of wood when you walk into the cabin and the little gas stove. A beautiful place to unplug and tune in to yourself and the earth. We were cozy and warm despite the low temperatures during our stay and had a lot of fun cooking on the grill and over the fire pit. Would definitely stay here again! Pro tip: say hi to Renel and her family if you have time, her kiddos are the sweetest. :)

I visited Riverhaven in late October for a solo reading retreat, and the environment was exactly what I was looking for when I envisioned a peaceful, secluded place to read. The fall colors were beautiful, the rain and the running water added to the ambience, and everything necessary was provided to make my stay stress free and comfortable. Renel was very communicative leading up to my stay, which was very helpful with my trip planning. I would recommend Riverhaven to anyone and will stay again if I ever find myself back in Vermont.

A cozy, quiet getaway

Everything about this place oozes peace and tranquility. I was looking for a quiet place to be on my own for a few days and Renels River Haven offered just that. The accommodation was much better than I was expecting (pictures tend to be better than the place itself, but not the case here), the bed was super comfy, the cabin extremely cozy and clean, with a very easy to operate grill right outside the door. I felt safe the whole time here and struggled leaving. I'll be back for certain at my next opportunity!

Rushing water and under a canopy of trees - what a great spot. It truly was great to disconnect and be in nature. Even with rain all day and night it was so cozy to just be in the cabin relaxing. They’ve thought of everything. - and but don’t forget to do a tick check every day.

Beautiful cottage surrounded by trees and a river right outside your door! We had a remarkable stay, the site is complete with a picnic bench and fire pit! Renel sent us clear instructions and was available for any help! I cannot recommend this stay enough.

This is the cutest little cabin on the river's edge, beautiful little view and the sound of the water was so relaxing! The setup was amazing, everything we needed and perfect binder to help us along. Thank you for a mini weekend getaway!

We had a wonderful time at Renel's beatiful, well maintained, and well appointed cabin. The location was easy to find, yet very private. The powerful river lulled us to sleep each night. When the rain fell and we were lounging around, the expansive doors/windows made us feel close to nature. There are are a number of great restauraunts and breweries nearby in Bennington and Willmington for those looking to adventure.

My husband and I had such a cozy time in the Riverhaven cabin! We loved the convenience of the bathroom and bbq so close to the cabin. We wished we could have stayed longer! What a beautiful place :)

The little cabin was so welcoming. It was clean and neat and we felt comfortable, like going to a trusted friends home. We were looking for a place to be together unplugged and unbothered. We found that here. We always bring our own stuff, but they had the basics. If we had headed out on a whim, we would have been fine with what they provided. And the bed was comfy! I would suggest bringing a umbrella in case you have to cook on the grill when it's raining. We lucked out and were able to cook over the open fire, but it did rain later one of the nights. It was funny; with the sound of the river, we couldn't tell if it was raining unless we looked at the ground! Oh and, their well water was so nice, we filed our water bottles with it to take home! (I hope that was ok!) The water from the river was clear and we had no qualms about using it to wash dishes and our face and hands. Nice area and the hosts seemed like nice people. We are so grateful we were able to stay somewhere that put back some pieces of our soul. I will always remember this place with a smile in my heart. Thank you both for sharing it with us

Riverhaven is a beautiful spot with a comfortable and cozy cabin! It was easy to find and a great jumping off point for hiking and visiting Bennington. We only stayed one night, but we'd stay again for longer!

I had a wonderful stay at River Haven! You can tell how much care and consideration went into building this cabin and we're lucky it's being shared on Hip Camp. It was too cold out to build a fire, but the cabin warmed up quickly with the propane fireplace which made for a very relaxing evening. I would love to stay again in warmer weather to enjoy more of the trails and river.

We recently had the pleasure of staying in a tiny cabin nestled along a peaceful, flowing river in winter, and it was nothing short of magical. The cabin’s rustic simplicity, romantic touches, and well-thought-out essentials made for a perfect off-grid escape. It was an ideal place to unwind and truly disconnect from the outside world. Renel and Joe were wonderful hosts, and their love for the cabin is evident in every detail. The space was impeccably maintained and thoughtfully designed, reflecting their passion and care. One of the highlights of the cabin’s location was its proximity to the river—just outside the front door. The constant, gentle flow of water created a soothing ambiance, and even under a blanket of snow, the landscape felt alive. Despite the frigid cold, we built a fire outside, roasted marshmallows, and watched the stars with the river as our backdrop. It was so peaceful and meditative that we could have sat there for hours. A great advantage was the cabin’s proximity to the owners’ home. We could park in their plowed driveway and easily reach them if needed, yet the cabin still felt wonderfully private and secluded. This balance of accessibility and solitude was perfect for a winter retreat. Inside, the cabin was warm and inviting, thanks to the efficient gas stove. We loved this cabin! It was snowy and the view of the river and trees is beautiful. The cabin is lovely and comfortable, and was cozy even in very low temperatures with the stove. We also enjoyed the card games and books on cabin building. Renel was very helpful with recommendations on food, activities, and parking. We enjoy snowshoeing and took her advice in some great local trails. Would love to stay again!
