Our property is 85 very private acres with an open field surrounded by forest and open wooded areas with many trails. The forest is very diverse including some old growth maples and birches, as well as hemlock and pine trees. The campsites are at the edge of the field set back into the woods. I have recently added sand and gravel to improve drainage since the heavy rain we have had this year. We have a portable composting toilet outhouse and a hot outdoor shower. Feel free to explore all of the trails on foot or mountain bike. You may see some turkeys or deer out there. There is a small pond with lots of frogs and salamanders near the camping area, and a few seasonal streams on the property. You can hike a one mile loop on our newest trail. It is medium difficulty because of the hillside it is built on so hiking boots are recommended unless you are on a mountain bike. Rock walls built in the mid 1800s circle the property almost entirely so the borders are easy to see. The Deerfield river is a few miles away where you can fish for trout or go for a swim or kayak. The Connecticut river and the green river are about 15 minutes away as well. We have tubes, a canoe, and a kayak that are available to rent for some floating! Historic Deerfield village and Yankee Candle store and factory are about 10 minutes away. We are about 20 minutes from Northampton and Amherst.Choose between camping in one of the wooded nooks at the edge of our grassy field. A stone fire pit is located at each site. We have plenty of firewood for campers so no need to bring any. Our composting toilet is available as well as our outdoor hot shower. Listen to owls and frogs serenade you to sleep! You might see a family of deer at dawn or dusk and you will definitely hear lots of birds. Bring your mountain bike or hiking boots and you can explore over a mile of trails on our property and easily get to the Deerfield river using the two mile long Mahican-Mohawk trail which leads to Conway Station where two rivers meet and you can see the ruins of a trolley bridge. The street we are on was recently designated part of the Franklin County scenic bikeway which takes you along the Connecticut river valley and many points of interest. We are a 10 minute to Treehouse brewery, Berkshire brewing company, historic Deerfield, yankee candle and mount sugarloaf reservation. We are 15 minutes from the Franklin county fairgrounds and Camp Keewanee.

Open forest campsite
Willis's campsite was perfect for us! It was nicely located a few hundred yards away from his home along the tree line. He was easy to communicate with and I would recommend this campsite for those looking for a low-key place to camp.

Good place to stop
You need to believe GPS coordinates and take a right @ 72 Mathews St. William does a great job, nice site w/ firewood. Hot show in the morning made my day.

Site was a bit more rugged and less private than expected. The outhouse needed a cleaning. The area around the fire pit was fairly muddy and it took a bit of trial and error to find a spot where one could place a camping chair. The large rock the fire pit was built against began to chip off as we were prepping a cooking fire (I’m guessing from heat + rain?) which was a bit startling as we didn’t expect rocks to be dropping into a lit fire. There was also no cooking grate on site which is shown in most of the pictures so be prepared for that. Overall not a bad camping site but the upfront expectations could have been set more clearly.

Quiet, friendly, great location
This was our first Hipcamp experience and we weren’t disappointed! Willis was very prompt in responding to our messages. The campsites are on the edge of a forest filled with birdsong and is quite private. There is another campsite through the woods about 100 feet away — our neighbors were polite and friendly. The hot shower was excellent after a long day hiking and biking in the area. The location is convenient to Northampton and Amherst. Also, we were able to drive right up to our campsite in our car. Thanks Willis!

The family was welcoming and accommodating. The spot is beautiful and serene. My campsite was clean, had a great fire pit and picnic table. The shower and toilet were rustic but clean.
