An established Western facing four point sacred Medicine Wheel site being established on Askari Ridge - our name for the slope starting with the two fire pits - 'Askari' being Swahili for night guard. Here is where we envision a great touch-point area for those leading groups to be for a base-camp by day or night, where eventually a multi-use tenting platform/performance stage will be constructed for outdoor entertainment, creating an authentic 'stadium style' seating on the hill. You will see on your way up to Salamander Hollow main clearing - the Kula Bata Tiny Kabin on the left of the dirt road- now available to rent with its small guest room for two, infrared sauna, hot shower, kitchenette, dishwasher and laundry.

Moon In The Pond Farm

5 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents35 acres · Sheffield, MA
Well off the beaten track, it's scenic, private and peaceful. Camping at Moon In The Pond Farm is a little bit of heaven. There are six separate sites to choose from. All are in separate, different locations around the farm, so you have your own secluded spot to enjoy. (Though you may be sharing a field next to our Scottish Highland cattle!) Two are tent sites: the PondSide and the FieldEdge. There's one site for small/tiny RVs or Campervan. There's the BellTent--a bit of "glamping". And finally there's the HiddenCabin--a bed a roof and convenience. Each has a firepit with a small grill to cook over the fire. (all firewood provided) Our campsites are located in quieter areas of the farm. One overlooks the pond, three others are under the trees on the edges of different farm fields, one is a cabin nearer the farmstead. All require a beautiful, bucolic trek of 150-350 yards from the roadside parking--ensuring the quiet, natural experience. During the day times, you may see or hear farm work. At night it's lusciously dark and serenely quiet. You'll hear owls hoot, frogs croak, crickets chirp, foxes yowl and coyotes howl! In June and July the fields and trees light up like Christmas with fireflies, and you'll see the stars. During the week is the absolute best time--the local hot spots (or cooling down spots!) are much quieter, and all our campsites have reduced weekday rates. If you can, take advantage by adding a Thursday or Sunday night to a weekend stay. Wanna hike? We've got an awesome, easy hiking trail on adjacent Nature Conservancy preserved land. It meanders through woodlands, around rock ledges, through wetlands (on a 600' of boardwalk) and ends at a beautiful stream and pond with a gigantic beaver dam. Not far from here are numerous well-marked hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail (with famous Bash Bish Falls) and several offshoots (Sage's Ravine, Race Brook Falls), Bartholomew's Cobble, Umpacheenee Falls, and others). Also in the neighborhood are opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, off-road, gavel-road and country-road biking, snowshoeing, cc skiing and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. Or... you can just chill and relax, sleep, or read the day away! Love food? This is Farm-to-Table for real! Never so close--the table's AT the farm!! Bring your cooking gear and get some of our wicked fresh organic food--veggies, chops, sausages, eggs, bacon, granola, yogurt, etc. Sear yourself up a real treat! Very nearby, as the Berkshires is an alternative cultural mecca, there are also numerous entertainment opportunities from many great restaurants to art, dance, music, spas, galleries, antique shops, museums, cafes and much more. It's still amazingly quiet at the farm where the Milky Way is clearly visible.

Wilder Hill Gardens

2 sites · Tents5 acres · Conway, MA
Wilder Hill Gardens is a working farm nursery. We grow nursery stock using sustainable methods. On the land, you might see a robust flock of laying hens, pigs in a portable pen cultivating new ground, plantings of medicinal herbs, and gorgeous sun and shade display gardens. A half acre of pick-your-own pears, currants, gooseberries and blueberries yields organic fruit from mid-July through September. With pristine water from our well and forests all around, you will camp amid our gardens and orchards. Visit the chickens and pick fresh, organic fruit in season. Walk down the country road to the Bear River for a dip or explore nearby Shelburne Falls. We have a newly built outhouse. Enjoy a rustic “bucket bath’ or outdoor shower while looking over the wooded hillsides. Wilder Hill Gardens is very peaceful, guaranteed you will be greeted by bird song every morning and the evening sky is bright with stars. We are in a lovely rural neighborhood yet centrally located to any number of natural wonders and cultural activities. There is a limit of two tents on each site and four people. Each site has a separate fire pit, water source, and private camping area. Sorry, but we are not accepting pets at this time. There are two farm dogs, Viola and Jackson at Wilder Hill Gardens. They are friendly, well trained and mostly work along side me. But they do have free range of the farm and if anyone in your party has a fear or dislike of dogs this is probably not the best choice for you. We have PYO fresh fruit, vegetables, cut flowers, eggs, and all of our nursery stock for sale in season. There is a newly built garden shop and art gallery with a 12 Ft. Mosaic made of thousands of handmade porcelain pieces. We accept cash or checks or Venmo but not credit cards. Check out our Extras!

Never bored, as here, we answer the question, who are we, what do we want, and what is the world we are here build. Life can be beautiful and easy. We champion Edible Ecological Restoration. Every year the Native Fruit.Nut Nursery Grows, sell more plants, and hosting more free public plantings, while our leather shop supports our lives. It;s time to restore the Earth. We all have a role to play, and this is where WE are hiding out, for now, the enact our greatest work, and have a great time doing it. Care to join us. This is a safe and sacred environment. Learn more about this land:Come stay in the forests of Shelburne, MA. Our site offers private camping in the woods, and easy-access to meadow, view of a large pond and ever-expanding permaculture gardens. The 'Healers' Headuarters' is our haven, where we grow native Fruit, Nut and Medicine plants, that we sell and use for free public plantings in towns and cities. This is the headquarters where plants are grown for our non-profit planting campaign. Likewise, we run an artisan leather shop, using a roadside barn on site that has been converted into a studio-gallery. Check out our grass-fed bison leather bags, belts, armor and sculptures. It's time to Restore the Earth! It's time for a better world! Here, we are doing the work that we believe in, answering the call to restore our planet and help people, spreading native plants for edible-restoration, while planting a living, edible-ecological model on site! It's time to build a better world. This is our small, growing-community's space to create and SPREAD the world that we KNOW all can share in the future! Medicines, healing arts, crafts and tasteful projects abound. We are on the path of personal and planetary growth. This high-traffic site allows our work to reach the most people! HOWEVER! If you are incredibly sensitive to ROAD PRESENCE, VEHICLE NOISES, PROXIMITY TO TRAFFIC, it might be off-putting.That said, as soon as one steps to the back behind the property, it is an oasis.
