We will provide shovels, rakes if you need!) - OVERLANDERS: You can bring your overland camper if you want, but you must park your vehicle in the parking spot across from your site at sites 1-3. You can sleep in your vehicle, and hang in the camping area, but not both in the same place. Site 4 is large enough to accommodate your vehicle and these rules do not apply there. No exceptions! It is a safety issue to block the entryway/exit lane. -This is a place for relaxation and reflection by the creek. No loud groups or partying allowed. -This is a pack it in, pack it out site. This includes food waste, dog waste, and any garbage produced. Please respect that :) -There is NO FISHING, kayaking or boating. Go for a swim and float, no prob! But please float in the vicinity of your camp, so as not to disturb other campers. - Lastly, please do not invite visitors to your campsite. The furthest we are open at any given moment is about six months Description of camp: At this camp we only allow one group at a time for privacy. The campsite is a big level hilltop clearing surrounded by acres woods. We have a stone driveway that leads to the site that gets you back into the woods. The driveway is wide enough for trucks, trailers, vans, etc. Since the site is up high it gets a great breeze which helps on warm days and gets good cell service. The campsite gets great sun and has shaded areas along the sides that make for good tent pitching. We have had people set up hammocks, tents, tarps, or camp in their vehicle. We provide a privy (outhouse), an outdoor showerroom/changing room, a charcoal cooking pit, picnic tables, and a metal fire pit with grill rack that you can put in the fire pit if you wish to cook/grill over it. The woods are hilly so biking is not recomended. On the property we have 2+ miles of hiking trails that are marked with fluorescent ribbon. PLEASE feel free to contact us for any questions. Willet Family Farm

Named “Favorite Hipcamp Site in the State of Maryland" by OUTSIDE MAGAZINE in 2020! The tallest structure on our farm is the windmill, constructed in 1874, and it quickly became the logo for our farm because a windmill is something that harnesses power for a specific purpose. For many generations, the windmill harnessed the power of the wind to grind grain or pump water, but now in the 21st century, Willet Family Farm hopes to harness the power of the outdoors to benefit every guest that comes to visit. The Willet Farm survived many hardships including The Great Depression, the 1999 tornado that destroyed the barn, and cancer that claimed the life of family members too early. In 2006, The farm had to be sold outside of the family, but in an effort to honor past generations and preserve the heritage of what the farm stood for (faith, family and hard work), Jeremy and Kathleen Willet purchased the farm back in 2017. The 13 acre farm is perfectly located in the middle of over 200 acres of farmland owned by parents and cousins. Since that time, we have welcomed over 200 guests from 20 different states and 4 different countries! We are a small family homestead, board horses and are a Renewable Energy Farm completely powered by the sun through a comprehensive solar design on our barn.

About

The Star-Spangled Banner, America's national anthem, was written during the War of 1812. It is only fitting then, that the historic 290-mile trail is named after the song. The trail stops at all the important sites along the Chesapeake Bay, including Fort McHenry, the inspiration for the song. The trail goes as far north as Port Deposit and all the way up the Potomac to Washington D.C.

With all the hiking — and possibly kayaking — along the trail, you'll see plenty of natural beauty. There's the Prince William Forest Park, Piscataway Park, and Elk Neck State Park. Elk Neck has camping sites, hiking, and fishing. There are plenty of camping sites along the entire trail. They offer new scenery and a breath of fresh air between historic sites, battlefields, and museums.

When visiting the Star-Spangled Banner Trail, give yourself plenty of time to really immerse yourself in the historic and natural aspects of it. Visit during late spring or early fall to avoid the heat and humidity of summer or the winter snows. This way you get the beauty of spring flowers and fall foliage. You can pick up the trail at any of the historic locations and stops, but for more precise details, download a guide at the National Park Service website.
