The views were beautiful. Mornings (sunrises) and evenings (sunsets) are breathtaking. All the horses were just an added bonus. The huge pile of horse manure behind the stalls where we stayed was the only downside. It'd be nice if the used an open part of their property to store it away from camping guests. We enjoyed our stay.

This is our 3rd or 4th stay . It is a perfect overnite spot when traveling. It's so peaceful and quiet. Easy access. Electric & water. AND BEAUTIFUL.

We were surrounded by gorgeous horses, stunning sunrises and sunsets, and the Blue Ridge Mountains in every direction... what more could you want?! Friendly people and clean bathrooms too (no shower). Check out Layne's country store and Natural Bridge State Park nearby. We would definitely stay here again, hopefully when the cidery across the street is open!

Equestrian Center/ site#1.
Was able to get off roads while 2days of bad weather passed thru..
Not far from Natural Bridge S.P..
Stayed here month prior when heading to FL.
Close to main roads.
No road noise, full AT& T signal.

I enjoyed tent camping at Sydney‘s island. Property is beautiful. Communication was fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone who also love horses.

I love animals, so the idea of camping at an equestrian center was awesome. I found it when I was heading north on a long road trip but apparently, was driving into a snowstorm. This place was just off the highway easy to find. Everything was already covered in snow so it was hard to know where to park but the host’s brother in law saw I was a bit confused and helped get all set up. Sydney was also extremely responsive and reached out immediately. The storm passed and in the morning I was able to view the mountain range clearly - nestled on a hill.
My dog enjoyed the snow and space quite freely - there were no horses in the stalls outside because of the storm but I did get to see them in the distance and on my way out in the morning. I really enjoyed it and would come back!

I had a wonderful stay at Mane Gait Equestrian Center/#1..
The property was pristine and plenty of walking trails to enjoy.
And where else can you see such a beautiful view in the morning while having a cup of coffee?… the Blue Ridge Mountains along the skyline were really fabulous.

The host was extremely communicative to ensure we got to the right spot and switched to a more ideal location due to rainy conditions. Beautiful, well maintained horse farm that was nice to wake up to. All of the amenities were as described and useful. Quick but great trip!

It's a beautiful property with a friendly host!
Keep in mind - you'll be parked next to a couple barns in the back, potentially with big piles of manure. While we were there for a week, we did have some decently warm weather, meaning flies are abundant. When it cooled in the evening, it wasn't as much of a problem. We had several fans, but couldn't seem to get rid of them. Dealt with flies in our van for a couple days after leaving the property.

Arriving at night, it was hard to find the camping site. And when I parked there, I was surprised to find 2 or 3 cars with trailers already parked there. It was crowded. Meanwhile, site 1 was completely empty. And a word of caution, if you see horses in the stables, don’t pet them, even if they come to you. Angry redneck travelers might flip their sh*t. But overall, I’d stay there again. Also, The Pink Cadillac diner is your best shot for grabbing supper.

We absolutely loved our overnight at Main Gait. Communication with Sydney was prompt and helpful. We came in with a 36 ft class A towing a Jeep and site one was more than big enough for our rig. 50 amp service was a bonus. I highly recommend staying here, if nothing else, for the incredible view and beautiful horses.

It was a beautiful site, especially in the mornings with the fog banks rolling over the mountains. There is a compost pile near site 1 (which doesn’t smell all that much), so just stay far enough away to avoid flies. The hosts are very kind and the amenities are as advertised and well kept. All in all, I would definitely consider staying here again.

Sidney was pleasant and easy to work with! We arrived late, well after nightfall: downside was we had trouble finding the designated site, upside was the stars!! Beautiful! And waking up to the horses in the pasture as the morning sun burned of the mist... peaceful! :) Warning, you have to drive over grass (basically pasture) and uneven slope (watch hitch angle), but now that I know what to expect I'd definitely stay again.

Due to the rain and at Sydneys direction, I stayed at Site 1 instead of Site 2. Hint: There is a picture of the site locations that I didn’t see until after I parked. I only stayed one night and Sydney was very responsive. It was so peaceful and waking up to a walk with horse, does the heart good. :)

This is a beautiful property. The campsite was at the top of a hill with a gorgeous view of the horses, pastures, and barns, and mountains in the distance. Very quiet and no light pollution so the night sky was amazing.

Lovely horse farm, beautiful landscape to wake up to and good view of the stars! We stayed in a tent, could definitely smell the horse manure pile nearby and the bathroom is a 5min walk away which didn’t bother us but may be an issue for some.

Beautiful location with water and electric hookup. Kids got to ride their bikes on the grass while we cooked dinner. Perfect place to stay to enjoy the views. The flys from the manure pile behind the barn came out when we started cooking food but weren’t unbearable. And there wasn’t a strong manure smell either. Would definitely stay again if traveling to this area. KOA down the street we were able to dump our tanks for $20.
