Amazing camping spot with fantastic amenities. No better feeling then waking up along the river. Nice and secluded but easily to access. This is THE spot for camping in Vermont.

We camped in Site 1. It was easy to find. The site is peaceful and has amazing views of the Vermont country side. There is also access to Clyde River and campfire, wood and grille

Awesome Clyde River Csmping
Ron’s Clyde River Camping sites are a “must stay” when you come to the Northeast Kingdom in Vermont. It was my second time returning to Ron’s place, this time I brought a line for friends. Without saying we will be back next year. If you are looking for a unique camping experience, wanting to get away from the crowded summer state’s campgrounds, Ron’s Hipcamp property is the place.

Camping by the river
A great location for paddling the Clyde River! Very private, sweet spot on the river. We were on Site 1 with a 16 foot camper. The hosts were friendly and even provided firewood.

Clyde River Camping Site #1
Site #2....the way to go!
We had a restful and quiet night once we got switched to site #2...site 1 is close to the road and a bridge where people parked to fish or kayak. We wanted seclusion, so that wasn't working.... The sites are fairly close and site #2 has better river access and view and further from the road.
Very clean, great picnic tables, and plenty of firewood....no complaints there!
We walked into the property, swam the dogs in the pond, and followed the Clyde...mushrooms, bear scat and we saw a long tail weasel and kingfisherss fishing.

What an absolutely wonderful spot to stay! Ron’s land was gorgeous, the site was convenient to get to, private, well maintained and such a beautiful spot by the creek. We had plenty of space with picnic tables and Ron provided a plethora of firewood. The outhouse was clean and such a great amenity. We absolutely loved chatting with Ron and he was so kind to give us a bunch of garden fresh veggies as well. We loved the close proximity to lake willoughby and surrounding areas. Would definitely stay again.

Clyde River Camping Site #2
Ron and Laura have put a lot of effort into the campsites on their property. Site 2 is well maintained and close to the poshest outhouse I’ve ever seen😉 The site has a wonderful view of the river with plenty of space for our tent.
There is no need to leave the site, but it is close enough to some lovely towns and restaurants. This is a beautiful part of VT. My husband and I are already looking forward to our return trip.

Clyde River Camping Site #1
A Northeast Kingdom gem.
It was my first stay at Ron's property and it won't be the last. I could tell Ron takes pride in his stewardship of his beautiful land. Our spot was at the river's edge and fully stocked with plenty of firewood. There was a newly built composted outhouse near our campsite. I look forward to my return trip there in '23 if not sooner. Thanks Ron for being a great host and I will tell friends about your place.

Ron was such a great host. The site was exactly as advertised, the outhouse was clean and comfortable, and Ron offered to let us use his kayaks. He even set up a tent over our picnic table when our trip took a rainy turn. Would definitely stay there again. No cell service for Verizon (which was nice).

first off Ron and Laura are great people! beautiful property off beaten path. perfect spot for me traveling on motorcycle for the night. flat grassy area by a river with fire pit and wood for you. definitely stop again if riding the area.

This was my first experience with hipcamp and we loved our stay with Ron and his wife. A beautiful property on the Clyde river and they were generous in allowing us use of their swimming pond etc. great location to base for some biking in the Kingdom. Following two days in state park suffered by comparison!

We loved this campsite. It’s right on the river and a decent distance from the other site. The host was very friendly and they provide a firepit with free firewood and 2 picnic benches. Great view of the stars at night and you can see the haze of the Milky Way galaxy. We heard what we think were otters slapping their tails in the river at night. Oh and there is also a clean shared outhouse right next to the campsite. As well a farm stand just 15 minutes walk down the road. Would definitely recommend it!

Great spot on the river
We loved camping on Ron's land! It was the perfect respite from the Clyde River that my group of canoer's were looking for after a long day of paddling. The picnic table, fire wood, and new privy were💯. Ron and Laura, and their dogs, are great hosts!

Ron and Laura are the kindest most creative people. It’s seemed like we were saying “look at this!” the entire time as it is full of thoughtful touches that make the experience more personal and relaxing. The space is very remote and allowed us to have our energetic pups off leash and the location along a river with hiking trails and a short drive from Lake Willoughby is unmatched. My Subaru easily drove right to the site and the (very nice) outhouse was right there. There is s sink that pumps river water but you should bring your own potable water. This is a true gem and I am already plotting when to return. I cannot thank Ron & Laura enough for opening up their beautiful land and for their generous hospitality. Maybe we’ll all go to (Frank’s?) Pizza together one day?

Clyde River Camping Site #1
Ron & Laura were AWESOME hosts! They greeted my boyfriend when he arrived to set up and gave him a tour of the property, which is beautiful. Campsite 1 was great, right on the river. We saw ducks and even were visited by a beaver during the night. The composting toilet was clean and they had stocked firewood for us. The location was close enough to town to grab supplies when we decided to stay an extra night but felt more remote. I think next time we would choose campsite 2, just because it is closer to the potty and you can make your tent a little more secluded.
Overall, we were very happy with our stay and will definitely be camping there again!
Bonus: They have very friendly pups!!

Magical place with the best hosts!
My friends and I had an incredible time staying mostly at Site 2. I would definitely recommend booking Sites 1 and 2 for a large group (and so affordable!). Site 3 is more remote (not near sites 1 and 2 so a lot of privacy!) and would be lovely for a couple or small group. It is absolutely beautiful! You have river access, a compostable toilet, and lots of room for dogs to roam!
And so much I could say about the incredible hosts Ron and Laura (and their pups Ted and Shaggy). They immediately gave me a tour of their 90+ acre property of trails and river access and offered to help in any way possible throughout the weekend. They graciously offered us coffee, access to their pond, kayaks/paddle boards, and even had happy birthday table cloths on the picnic tables (we were celebrating my birthday, so thoughtful!). My friends and I just felt so special, safe, and welcome!
Definitely our new favorite spot!

My friends and I had an incredible time staying mostly at Site 2. I would definitely recommend booking Sites 1 and 2 for a large group (and so affordable!). It was very easy to pull in so friends could come and go, you have river access, a compostable toilet, and lots of room for dogs to roam!
And so much I could say about the incredible hosts Ron and Laura (and their pups Ted and Shaggy). They immediately gave me a tour of their 90+ acre property of trails and river access and offered to help in any way possible throughout the weekend. They graciously offered us coffee, access to their pond, kayaks/paddle boards, and even had happy birthday table cloths on the picnic tables (we were celebrating my birthday, so thoughtful!). My friends and I just felt so special, safe, and welcome!
A couple of things to know is that there isn't easy access to drinking water (although the hosts offered to let us fill up at their house which isn't too far), and those with Verizon service do not have service at the site (Which I appreciated the break from!). Definitely our new favorite spot!

A tranquil place on the river.
Ron & Laura were great hosts during our stay. We loved how we had morning coffee and breakfast with the view of river. We would definitely stay there again.
